I broke up with my girl friend the other day. I dumped her because all she really wanted was my money' date=' and there's scarcely any of that.[/quote'] Am I one of the few girls who don't care about money. I really hate that when girls only want a relationship because of the guy's money. A random fact about myself: I love to read books.

Bad though that is, it's a darn sight better than using the gonad criterion as the sole measure - which seems a surprisingly common and broadly accepted method of determining a given man. At least gold diggers are practical if a bit soulless. Not that I'd know too much about it, I'm not so much a sexual magnet as I am an acerbic porcupine.
Aww' date=' you sound lovely [img']http://metalforum.com/images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif (not to be creepy) xD girls like you are the ones that should be treasured icon_e_biggrin.gif
I'll vouch for Dave's integrity on this.

I feel like I'm one of the few guys that are repelled by trashiness.
Don't know if you've ever noticed this but I find in my experience girls like that tend to have excessively cutesy and bloody meaningless modern first names, allied to usually German surnames, like Hayley Lehman or Lindsay von Schwarz.

That kind of thing would turn me on ;) I love girl's legs' date=' but I do agree it is pretty trashy.[/quote'] By your own admission the very word 'boobs' raises your heartrate, so the potency (ar har har) of this particular method of titillation is probably a bit difficult to gauge with you as the subject.

Re: Facts about yourself!

I'm no fan of booty shorts as well. You can almost just walk in your underwear' date=' same effect :P.[/quote'] Oh well, I can agree with that :D But still girls shouldn't expose themselves quite as much in public, they wear things like that, and then they give you a funny look if you're checkin them out! Ridiculous!

You can almost just walk in your underwear' date=' same effect :P.[/quote'] What a magnificent idea. ...on a more serious note, I find that a measure of dignity helps people see past seemingly nymphomaniac clothing choices. My youth group had a pretty strict dress code (on paper), but I found I could actually listen to and appreciate the insights of a dignified and intelligent girl in a spaghetti strap top and short shorts much more readily than I could the blitherings of an inane twit in a three-quarter length denim skirt hitched up to about chest level and the most formless t-shirt available. The assumption that teenagers are driven by sex might be accurate, but it served as a way to unfairly marginalize girls with enough force of personality to be interesting on a mental level, because otherwise nobody would ever have any reason to talk to the numbskulled prudes in the first place without some leveling. Still, I draw the line at belly shirts. Only Starfire from Teen Titans gets a free pass on that, and that's solely because she's an alien.

And when they choose to just wear leggings alone... Did you paint your legs a different color? Maybe I'm just an asshole, I don't know. Short shorts I don't usually have a problem with because they don't exactly make shorts for women. I know some people that hate wearing them because of how much leg they show, but at the same time it gets too hot and they don't want to wear their sweat pants or jeans. I get a little disgusted when I see someone wearing booty shorts or only leggings. It rubs me the wrong way... I also find that a lot of women in the metal community have this really trashy feel about them. No offense to anyone here, I'm just saying as a generality it's pretty fucking common for metal chicks to be trashy.

this is where I'm blessed because when you can't really see who you're talking to it is all about personality as the first point of reference so I'm able to engage with girls on that level first and as my eyes adjust to the light or lack thereof I get a better idea of what they look like. I've been fortunate I suppose in that the girls I've met at uni have great personalities and are actually quite attractive as well.

It's actually pretty awesome that you can cut that out of the equation for selection, as personality is the factor that doesn't age poorly, but can still appreciate a woman's physical beauty, even if not right away. You ought to play up the blindness a bit more and use it as an excuse to "see them more clearly with your hands", lol. As far as how women dress, I don't really care. I'm married, so it's not as though I need to judge people on how they look for the purposes of mating, and I tend not to like most people anyway, so physical appearance doesn't play a large role in my life anymore. Not that a good looking woman in skimpy clothes won't still catch my eyes, but I don't really care to critique what they where, as I'm not into fashion, nor do I desire more than a look. However, when women intentionally show off too much, but get upset when people look, I get annoyed. Dave Chappelle said it best: _uscmRI9ZrE Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2

It's all down to personal preference though isn't it. Some people think that girls should dress that way whilst others will think the same girl would be more attractive if she wore a little more clothing. I subscribe to the latter view a girl can show off her curves without having to look like a $2 dollar hooker

hahahah guys having a talk about girly clothing. What a precious glimpse inside your heads I have :D I personnally can't tolerate one thing, and this is seeing someone's ass above the jeans. It makes me want to puke. If I think of myself, I don't like to wear trashy clothes because of comfort reasons. Like this your skin sticks everywhere and collects all the dirt from all the places you visit. And in the summer it is simply unstandable. But on the other hand I never learnt how to flirt&play on sexappeal, which seems to me simply as a manipulative social game.

Enjoy it, you won't see it too often. it's not a subject most people (especially feminists) want men thinking about, even if it's completely absent any lecherous guile.

    • Whichever tier of thrash metal you consigned Sacred Reich back in the 80's/90's they still had their moments.  "Ignorance" & "Surf Nicaragura" did a great job of establishing the band, whereas "The American Way" just got a little to comfortable and accessible (the title track grates nowadays) for my ears.  A couple more records better left forgotten about and then nothing for twenty three years.  2019 alone has now seen three releases from Phil Rind and co.  A live EP, a split EP with Iron Reagan and now a full length.

Notable addition to the ranks for the current throng of releases is former Machine Head sticksman, Dave McClean.  Love or hate Machine Head, McClean is a more than capable drummer and his presence here is felt from the off with the opening and title track kicking things off with some real gusto.  'Divide & Conquer' and 'Salvation' muddle along nicely, never quite reaching any quality that would make my balls tingle but comfortable enough.  The looming build to 'Manifest Reality' delivers a real punch when the song starts proper.  Frenzied riffs and drums with shots of lead work to hold the interest.

There's a problem already though (I know, I am such a fucking mood hoover).  I don't like Phil's vocals.  I never had if I am being honest.  The aggression to them seems a little forced even when they are at their best on tracks like 'Manifest Reality'.  When he tries to sing it just feels weak though ('Salvation') and tracks lose real punch.  Give him a riffy number such as 'Killing Machine' and he is fine with the Reich engine (probably a poor choice of phrase) up in sixth gear.  For every thrashy riff there's a fair share of rock edged, local bar act rhythm aplenty too.

Let's not poo-poo proceedings though, because overall I actually enjoy "Awakening".  It is stacked full of catchy riffs that are sticky on the old ears.  Whilst not as raw as perhaps the - brilliant - artwork suggests with its black and white, tattoo flash sheet style design it is enjoyable enough.  Yes, 'Death Valley' & 'Something to Believe' have no place here, saved only by Arnett and Radziwill's lead work but 'Revolution' is a fucking 80's thrash heyday throwback to the extent that if you turn the TV on during it you might catch a new episode of Cheers!

    • Full length number 19 from overkill certainly makes a splash in the energy stakes, I mean there's some modern thrash bands that are a good two decades younger than Overkill who can only hope to achieve the levels of spunk that New Jersey's finest produce here.  That in itself is an achievement, for a band of Overkill's stature and reputation to be able to still sound relevant four decades into their career is no mean feat.  Even in the albums weaker moments it never gets redundant and the energy levels remain high.  There's a real sense of a band in a state of some renewed vigour, helped in no small part by the addition of Jason Bittner on drums.  The former Flotsam & Jetsam skinsman is nothing short of superb throughout "The Wings of War" and seems to have squeezed a little extra out of the rest of his peers.

The album kicks of with a great build to opening track "Last Man Standing" and for the first 4 tracks of the album the Overkill crew stomp, bash and groove their way to a solid level of consistency.  The lead work is of particular note and Blitz sounds as sneery and scathing as ever.  The album is well produced and mixed too with all parts of the thrash machine audible as the five piece hammer away at your skull with the usual blend of chugging riffs and infectious anthems.

There are weak moments as mentioned but they are more a victim of how good the strong tracks are.  In it's own right "Distortion" is a solid enough - if not slightly varied a journey from the last offering - but it just doesn't stand up well against a "Bat Shit Crazy" or a "Head of a Pin".  As the album draws to a close you get the increasing impression that the last few tracks are rescued really by some great solos and stomping skin work which is a shame because trimming of a couple of tracks may have made this less obvious.
