  3. I know this thread is mostly about alcohol, but on the off chance anyone cares, I wanted to talk about a soda. I recently obtained a bottle of Baikal soda. Baikal was the Soviet answer to western colas such as coke and pepsi. It has a tea/lemon/pine taste and I quite recommend it. As for alcohol, last night I had MONK’S CAFE FLEMISH SOUR ALE and, while it was good, it was damn sour.
  4. Recently watched the movie Stalker on blu ray by Criterion Collection, and loved it. This was my second time viewing the film, and my wife's first, and we were both blown away. It was made in the soviet union, so the idea is not to make a great sci-fi movie with flashy visuals and special effects, but rather to make a great sci-fi movie with a lot of philosophical content and engrossing atmosphere. A top notch movie that was actually recommended by Varg Vikernes. Unfortunately, many involved with making the movie died of cancer because it was filmed in a toxic waste dump.
  5. Babylon Whores - Deggeal (A Rat's God) The Misfits - 12 Hits From Hell Burzum - Fallen Alkaline Trio - Good Mourning
  6. I don't know much about this. Why does Deafhheaven get so much hate?
  7. Samhain - Initium Darkthrone - Under a Funeral Moon Motorhead - (I'm not incredibly familiar with Motorhead's catalogue, but I listened to a bunch so I could put together a mix C.D., love the cover of Bowie's Heroes.) Glenn Branca - Symphony No. 1
  8. I saw something in the what are you listening to thread and thought I should comment here so as to not derail that thread. Several people seem enthusiastic about a band called Ice Nine Kills. I had never heard of them, and knew nothing about them, but I freaking love the book they got their name from. They are not listed in the metal archives, yet wikipedia says they are a metal band. So what do they really play? (I'm guessing that the word, "core," will be involved.)
  9. I was in Denmark, and it said, "rocket," on the menu at a sandwich shop. I asked what it was, and was told it was lettuce. It didn't look like any lettuce I had ever seen. Now I know what I ate.
  10. Nine Inch Nails - Fixed Nokturnal Mortum - Lunar Poetry Loits - Vere kutse kohustab Jerry Only - Anti-Hero
  11. I definitely prefer real tobacco as well. My favorite portioned is Nick & Johnny Americana. Siberia scares me, I've heard that there is just ridiculously enormous amounts of nicotine in those. Back to the topic at hand, I always have music on while doing household chores. It seems to make them go by faster.
  12. Attila is my favorite, Maniac second. None of the others made much impression on me. Nothing about Dead's vocals sound special to me, and I always just assumed people were into him because of the story and his personality. I'm sure some people genuinely appreciate his performances, but I've just never heard anything special about them.
  13. I usually read while I listen, but very often use snus while listening to music as well. What kind do you like? I just opened the limited edition Jakobsson’s Glögg & Kanel Lös.
  14. Nokturnal Mortum - Lunar Poetry Loits - Vere kutse kohustab Jerry Only - Anti-Hero And these incredible orchestral covers of Burzum I found on youtube:

  16. Haven't been here in a while, return just to find out that someone I don't even know has accused me of being a liar. I knew there was a reason I don't come here often.

Relax man, I do sincerely apologize if I've offended you. Wasn't trying to call you a liar, I was just incredulous that there could be anyone in the world with internet access who hadn't heard about Spotify in 2022. I tend to forget sometimes that some of the newer or more sporadic posters might not realize when I'm taking the piss.

@GoatmasterGeneral Hey, as I once confided in an other user here, I have what was called Asperger's. I usually don't have a problem in person but, online, without being able to see your expressions or body language, I have a hard time guessing at anything but a literal interpretation of your words. This has caused me many problems online, but, I know this is my fault, not yours, so I should apologize. As I said before, I knew spotify was an app, and I probably figured it was for movies, TV shows, music, or etc., but I didn't know it was specifically for music. I'm 46 and I only really socialize with my wife and family. I have some young nephews and nieces, but young people don't often sit their middle aged uncle down and explain the latest technology. So, this spotify thing, do you have to pay? I use youtube because it's free. I know it doesn't have everything, so sometimes I go on bandcamp but, does spotify have anything I'm missing out on. Again, sorry for being over-literal.

No man it's cool, absolutely no apology necessary. No way I should be having a go at any random posters that I'm not familiar with using that kind of language, I should be more conscious of limiting my joking around to just the people I know are comfortable with my savage sense of humor. Again I do apologize, it was totally my overstepping of boundaries, not any fault of yours. But I am glad you seem to have forgiven me. I honestly meant no harm.

You might be 46 Parker, but I'm 61. Pretty ancient for a metalhead. That's why I figured if I know what it is by now then surely everyone else must. But I don't have a Spotify account myself. I have never used it to listen to music, although it seems like almost everyone else around here does. I suppose that's how I know about it, from the guys on the forum. It's just a way a lot of people use to listen to music they might not feel the need to purchase. They can either use it sort of like a metal radio station or many times they're evaluating something they're not sure yet if they'll want to purchase or not.

I personally use Youtube for this purpose like you do. I think since my tastes tend to run pretty underground, I see a lot of comments on Youtube about how people wish some of these albums were on Spotify, so I figure Spotify probably wouldn't be a good fit for me because there's a lot of stuff they don't have. Between Bandcamp and Youtube I feel like I'm covered with the majority of new stuff I might want to check out. Definitely don't feel like I'm missing anything by not having Spotify.

Yes there is a nominal monthly fee as with Netflix or Hulu or any of the tv streaming services. But apparently Spotify also has a free version just with some functionality like the ability to make playlists held back excusively for the paying customers. I guess this gives people a way to try before they buy. If you decide to check it out lemme know what you think.

Thanks for reaching out, I feel better now than the way we left things last time. Hope you come by the forum and post something sometime. My feelings have always been the more the merrier.

  17. I knew it was an app, didn't know what it was for. Believe what you want.
  18. I'm old, and I don't know what a spotify is. If I'm home, I listen to music on youtube or bandcamp, if I'm in the car I listen to CDs or the radio.
  19. 😆 LOL, absolutely not! But thank you for getting me to chuckle. Nasal Snuff is finely ground tobacco that is sniffed up the nose.
  20. Hey guys, what can you recommend as the single most extreme/brutal/aggressive/insane Black Metal song that you have heard? For me, this award goes to Pandemonic Hyperblast by Anaal Nathrakh. What do you guy recommend?
  21. Recommend Unusual Blood Experience TURK
  22. First, to echo an earlyer sentiment, fuck cancer. My wife's brother is fighting it now, and I sure hope he survives. Two random ass things: Does anyone else use nasal snuff? I've gotten into it recently and it's really fun. It's impossible to find in New England so I have to order it from England. I've heard that It's much more popular in Europe than it is here. Does anyone else know of/follow the antics of Chris Chan? This person is a bizarre tragicomedy that will leave you bewildered but fascinated. For those that dare, watch the Chris Chan comprehensive history documentary on youtube, or check out https://sonichu.com/cwcki which is an entire encyclopedia dedicated to this person's incomprehensible shenanigans. They are right now siting in jail for raping they're senile 80 something year old mother. Good lord.
  23. Danzig - Danzig II Lucifuge Black Whitchery - Upheaval of Satanic Might Judas Priest - Screaming for Vengeance Jean Sibelius - Symphony 4
  24. My parent gave me shisha for Yule (for some reason they call it Christmas), so I thought I would leave some comments on them here. First, one of my old favorites: Starbuzz Lebanese Bomb Shell, which is cedar flavored. Next, Al-Waha Pan Rasna; I'm not sure what, "rasna," means, but pan or paan is a leaf that is rolled with spices and such and chewed as a breath freshener/mild stimulant in India. This shisha was nice, but the flavor was almost too strong. Oddly, the Al-Waha Chai Latte had almost no flavor at all, just sweet and vaguely floral, a definite fail. Trifecta Indian Kheer was very nice, but also on the weak side. Finally, Social Smoke Pistachio Breeze was very good, tasted like pistachio and wasn't too strong or weak. I think the pistachio and the kheer will mix very well.
