To be honest I'll go with you. Having a higher education does not mean that you can't express your thoughts simply and in a clear way. There are many critics that write their research papers in a language that will be understandable for the general public. When you mention a name, a theory, don't presume we all know it-even if you read a lot you can't know everything. It's actually a requirement for my researches as well-if I mention a name/a theory, I have to spend some time making clear what it is.
