I'm not one for remastered albums, especially given that so many albums these days are labelled as remastered but haven't been done from the original recordings. Too much of the time it's just labels wanting to re-release albums with, or without, the bands consent. Remastering is often also just one knob twiddlers version of what they think is great, look at how many people 'remaster' albums on Youtube with headings like "this is what X should have sounded like". I don't have a problem with labels selling remasters, or people buying them, but to me buying them, especially if I already have them is a waste of money.

It's been a long time since, but I've finally given Forbidden a shot. Four songs in and I'm not feeling it. Tommy Iommi carries the album, everything else has been poor so far. Hoping it gets a little better at least!

Hey Sweets, have you got all your knickers organized into the ones you'd like to keep and the ones you think you could spare to lob up onto the stage? I hear that Blaze is quite an attractive man. He radiates sex appeal.

Make sure you put your name on the knickers too because he might wear them as a do-rag and you want everyone to know their yours!!

blaaacdoommmmfan gave a Damn to SurgicalBrute in Why so few all female metal bands?
Oh, I don't doubt they're some out there, particularly with Japan's obsession with all-girl pop bands. Seems like exactly the kind of situation that would cause some "anti-diva" pushback from the right kind of ladies. I was more curious about the "Japan leads the way" aspect of that comment. A bit of google searching took me to a few different lists, but of the ones I checked out, most sounded like pop-punk or radio rock bands...Nothing wrong with that, but I was wondering what kind of bands we were really talking about here.
Haven't listened to Kovent since their demo. I remember liking it okay, just didn't grab me super hard

Depraved is a light for me to on the forum too. Full of wisdom. Lots of interesting comments.  I'm sure she will appreciate your comments when she next logs in. Good luck getting your daughter to play music. 👍

Blaze bailey tickets to his UK tour at Bedford uk. Something to look forward to on the day I hit 40.
My parents always said comps are disjointed because there mixing music from potentially a big period of time and it's just going to sound not as good as getting the bands best album/s. I agree with them. I don't buy compilation albums any more. Also comps miss those tracks that are not so famous but in my experience I enjoy more than the big hits.

Balor you've boudless knowledge, you know it😉
That's disappointing that said musician was arguing with fans discussing his work. Especially all the stupid and immature comments,  definitely a case of liking there music but being disappointed by there personality. My uncle used to write Hollywood scripts and he liked the money but not working with the stars. Well he disliked working with most of them☺️

Indeed, my knowledge is boundless!  haha
Yeah, it was other drama that I will not bring here.  The situation was pretty much a guy from the mid 1990s underground turning up after a few decades of nothing and then starting to argue with the few people that still talk about his music (for no reason).  Not just "embarrassing" kvlt posturing, but actual stupidity/immaturity from someone who had received longstanding respect in some circles.

Balor knows all😉good to hear from you. Ok didn't know that about the un named black metal kvlt musician embarrassing themselves years later. I still embarrass myself  but at least I don't advocate burning buildings down.  When one of the members of emperor apologized for the church burnings they once supported. I decided to get some of  there albums which I've liked. I would have got them alot earlier but that stuff put me off. I remember reading articles from 1990s and thinking not for me.  Politics and music for me don't mix.

I think a psychologist could probably explain exactly why some of us 'elitists' take comfort in music that ticks the right boxes and doesn't push too many boundaries. I know I don't need every band to reinvent the wheel and indeed most of the time when bands have tried I haven't liked the results. Don't want my boundaries pushed. Which isn't to say I think that's the right path for everyone, but it certainly works for me. I can totally understand why others say they find certain music stale & boring, derivative and predictable. Meat & potatoes. Static, Doc would say. Those things just happen to be positives for me. Fortunately we're so spoiled for choice these days that there are plenty of bands on each side, either doing what they're told & sticking to the plan, or being more adventurous & experimental. Forward thinking as I've heard it described. So that's a win for music lovers in general I suppose.
As far as the black metal live shows, I haven't experienced anything like what you've described, sweets gobbler. No church burnings, no animal blood or sacrifice, no violence, beatings, rape or torture, no Satanic rituals, I've just seen black metal bands that have taken the stage and played their music. Not saying some of this stuff might not happen some where some time, it just hasn't ever happened anywhere I've ever been. Haven't had the privilege of seeing an abundance of live black metal because a lot of these bands I'm into don't tour for various reasons. But I've been fortunate enough to have seen more than a handful and things have always been cool.
Believe it or not many of us black metal hounds are in it just for the music and tend to eschew much of the silly accoutrements and nonsense that can often be associated with the genre by casuals and the rock press. I'm sure there are musicians from other genres that are bad people or who have done bad things too. I find it kind of annoying that the actions of a few scumbags have tainted the sub-genre for 3 decades now and I imagine they will be tainting it for many decades to come. So many people can't look past that shit and aren't willing to even listen to the music. I've run across so many mainstream metal fans who seem to like a little something from all different metal sub-genres except for black. Their loss I say.

At least that stuff lives up to some (albeit stupid) "kvlt" status!  I was thinking more of people who reemerge out of the past to embarrass themselves (as a certain underground musician did on a different forum I am on).

I think everyone is entitled to there view but I'm not necessarily going to agree with them. When gaal was asked about church burnings he said he agreed 100% with doing this and he wanted more of it. This kind of response just puts me off listening to his music. Chainsawkikimbo(think that's name) said on previous thread on this forum said all the burning of buildings puts him off listening to some black metal bands. I'm with him on that.

This debate has raged on many a forum for many a year, it's funny to see how many people don't think forums are social media. The only real difference between forums and FB is the moderation level.
I'm not a member of any group that required an invite so I only see public posting from bands and with FB blockers on I don't even see comments unless I choose to see them, so from my experience FB is little more than a good advertising tool for bands. I know shit goes on there, I know some people live to post their opinions on there but I don't see it unless I choose to and in twenty something years I've never made a post of my own.
I was a member of some WASP group that was invite (all you had to do was ask and they invited you) but all it was was people posting the same images over and over, people complaining that Blackie never commented, and people reliving the same stories every few days. It was as boring as hell and something I dumped very quickly.

It’s been a long time coming but as of today I can officially say fuck all social media. I know my uni lecturer said journalists need to have social media but honestly having a platform to spread my opinion isn’t worth the racism, sexism, bigotry, and all around shitty Ness that is rampant across Facebook, Twitter, and so on.

I’m starting to get into reggae a little bit. I started listening when I got the chance to play guitar in a reggae band a few weeks ago. If you like reggae, please list your favorite artists and songs. The main artists I like so far are Bob Marley (One Love/People Get Ready) and Barrington Levy (Black Roses).

There are no rules for subgenre's. If you give a shit about somebody thinking you "HAVE" to wear corpse paint and you "HAVE" to worship satan to play black metal, tell 'em to fuck off.

Doing great!  Just started a new job this week, so I haven't been on here in a few days.  Hope you're doing well, too!
There's an ambient project called How to Disappear Completely, and their 2019 album "Seraphim" has been my go-to lately for that style.  I also enjoy some depressive piano-driven atmospheric music by Nights Amore.  I believe it's only one person, but I can't swear to it.  A lot of those pieces are just haunting.

blaaacdoommmmfan gave a Damn to Malice-in-Wonderland in Sad songs like Doom metal but without growling
I have no idea if your even still looking at this post or not but I ran across it looking for some new cleanish vocal doom bands, I've come to accept that most of all them have a little growl here and there, but many many in my opinion anyway just ruin the entire feel when they start growling, I've been a metal head for 35 years and don't get me wrong I love some good gutteral demonic vocals, but not so much in my doom. Anyway in the off chance you might read this here's a few of my favorites if you haven't heard you should definitely check out...1st I can't believe no one has mentioned Pallbearer yet, Katatonia...Novembers Doom...My Dying Bride. Pallbearer is a must, the other 3 are fantastic as well but do have some growling here and there. My Dying Bride's newer releases not so much. Also DeathWhite, Ancient Wisdom although u might have to spell it Ancient VVisdom with 2 V's to find them sometimes, I love them though. Let's see, Bathory...Below...Blackwater Holylight (awesome chick group)...Cathedral (old school father's of Doom, I fell in love with their newer release 'The Last Spire' though)...Dawn of Solace...Dax Riggs...Fvneral Fvck...En Minor...Down...High Reeper....King Buffalo...Lunar Funeral... Lunatic Soul...Mad Season... Magna Carta Cartel...Mammoth Storm...Merlin... Servants to the Tide...Sorcerer...Spirit Adrift (amazing newer band)...The Blackwater Fever...The Dead Crows...Void King...Woods of Ypres (they have growling more than others, but their former singer RIP is amazing when he does cleans, he has plenty of full songs that are all cleans)
Well that's all I can ramble off the top of my head, hopefully you'll find a couple of those to your liking and maybe even a few new favorites, I guess hopefully u even read it first of all lol....but if I had to pick say 5 of those to only listen to forever it would be (no particular order) 1. Spirit Adrift 2. Ancient VVisdom 3. Down 4. DeathWhite 5. Pallbearer

James t good to hear from you. Hope your doing good. Yeah I agree not enough blaze fans especially of the X factor and virtual 11  which I like alot.
Mettalica played last year in UK and maiden are only doing download festival. I don't fancy 3 day festival, especially the mud fest that often happens at UK download festival.
Cool you like ambient stuff. Slows deeper in the space.......album  is worth a listen. Kind of eerie but very atmospheric and interesting to listen to.   Actually most of the stuff I considered ambient are just long doom tracks i.e 45 mins and up. Out of interest what ambient stuff do you recommend.
