  1. I think that videos that actually show the band members playing instruments are always preferable to clips of text. I guess as a guitarist I just generally do not care about the lyrics to songs too much. Besides, I find the computer generated text and repeating background images to be sort of irritating.
  2. I have been listening to some of the songs off of the new Sleep album, and I like what I have heard. There are some really nice drones. "Embrace The Emptiness (KR-44)" - Evoken
  3. I generally liked the riffs, especially the intro portion and the first slow part. There were a few areas where I thought that the guitar flourishes took me out of the song. I also did not care too much for the sound of the vocalists voice. 5/10
  4. "Katharos" - raison d’être "The Slow Ascent" - raison d’être "Inner Depths of Sadness" - raison d’être "Demo II" - Peridexion Tree
  5. I think that if you bought an early copy (or preordered) the Mayhem collection, then it came with a special patch with the cover artwork on it. I was not lucky enough to find one with the patch though. Apart from that, I agree that the collection itself was not too special, especially if you already own the albums. However, I did not have any of them, so the collection was simply a way for me to save some money.
  6. "Voitto tai Valhalla Part I" - Goatmoon
  7. That Mayhem collection was really nice, it has some of my favorite albums on it. I had no idea that Dungeon Synth was ever performed live, but that sounds awesome. Let me know how it goes!
  8. I have heard of them, but never listened to them much. To my understanding, Earth was very influential for the members of Sunn. I will have to check them out.
  9. "Wormwood" is one of my favorite Marduk albums. It has some great riffs. I have been listening to songs from "Frontschwein" for the first time recently, and I must agree that the album represents some of their best work.
  10. "Nacht" - Paysage d'Hiver "Pesta Kommer" - Erebos This was extremely good. I would highly recommend it for fans of Burzum and Dungeon Synth.
  11. From a purely utilitarian perspective you are completely right. I guess that I just tend to think (for many of the reasons stated above) that actually owning a physical copy of an album is more interesting. To add to the conversation, I think that this interview with the guy behind Paysage d'Hiver is really interesting. In the very end, he described the importance of a holistic view on music production, in which the artist treats the music, associated visuals, logo, and other aspects of production as all being important. I think that solely relying on digital downloads would cause much of this art to be lost. Thus, I think that physical products are not only better for fans, but for musicians as well. http://www.invisibleoranges.com/paysage-d-hiver-interview/
  12. That stinks. I am just getting over a pretty bad cold.
  13. Also completely true, how could I have forgotten!
  14. Initially, I was repulsed by their history and tried to avoid them. However, as soon as I heard some of their songs, I thought that they were too good not to listen to. In my mind, they have had some of the best bm vocalists and riffs of all time.
  15. Welcome! I like Black Metal a lot too. You wrote that you like Dark Ambient in your bio. Do you have any recommendations? The latest Nightbringer album was pretty good. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
  16. 9/10 Solid vocals and great riffs. The only thing that would have made it better would have been the inclusion of a good solo.
