Then discuss and give reasons for your views. Simply stating your negative conclusions about the quality of a band does little to stimulate a positive or productive discussion. Fair view, I think. They are certainly not the greatest band in metal. My guess is that most of the "hero worship" emanates from people who are not deep into metal that harbor more romantic views of the band.

While their new material does not match the classic albums that they produced, they are nevertheless a very good band. When I was first getting into metal, I always thought that Metallica had great, moving riffs. Metallica has some of the most consistently solid singing that I have heard in any band. Besides something is only overrated in respect to the opinions of other people. Why not just listen to what you like, and not waste time bashing bands that you do not care for.
  7. Looks like you misspelled black metal... It is clearly the best genre!
  8. They were the band that based some of their songs on Stephen King's The Dark Tower right?
  9. More Absurd tracks and "Goatmoon" - Goatmoon.
  10. I find it interesting that the sound of Drudkh had changed so much over time. All of Roman Saenko's other projects appeared to focus on a specific concept - if he wanted to explore a different one, he would create a new band. It seems that Drudkh, though, has explored multiple sounds over the course of its existence. Part of me wonders if the end of Drudkh is near.
  11. Are you talking about their later material? Their later albums were also a bit of a let down for me, as they do not have the same rich atmosphere that some of the earlier albums had. I have been listening to some Goatmoon tracks recently. Cool band!
  12. Iron Maiden was one of the band that helped to get me into metal music! I am mostly into Black Metal, and often prefer the ambient and atmospheric varieties. My two favorite bands are Burzum and Drudkh.
  13. If you liked it then check out "Autumn Aurora," "Estrangement," and "Blood in Our Wells." They are some of Drudkh's best material.
  14. First one that you bought, or the first that you have listened to? The murder kept me away from them for a while, but I am now trying to explore their music. It seems to me that the murder sort of conflicts with the image of an NSBM band. Feeling so threatened by a kid that you decide to kill him does not exactly make them seem strong. Then again, it might just mean that they are extremely callous.
  15. Wecome! Those were some of my favorite bands when I started listening to metal as well.
  16. The first song was one of the best on it in my opinion too. I have been listening to a bunch of random Absurd songs. I am liking their music much more than I anticipated that I would.

    Mayhem

I didn't like him as much on Deathcrush though, for some reason. However all of his subsequent appearances were great in my mind. Part of me would like to buy this if I ever found it somewhere... very historical. What songs did they cover?
  19. It is a shame that this thread has not gotten more attention, as war metal is an interesting subgenre. My contribution to this list is a Russian war black metal band called Doomsday Cult. They only produced an ep and one album, but they nevertheless are solid musicians that I would highly recommend. https://doomsdaycult.bandcamp.com/album/warmongers-of-the-doomsday-cult

    Mayhem

It's nice to see Grand Declaration of War ranked so highly. It is definitely one of my favorite albums of theirs (and in general). However I would dispute ranking Wolf's Lair Abyss over Chimera. I thought that there was not enough variation in WLA, and that Chimera had more interesting guitar work. I got into Mayhem through Chimera, thus I think that it will always be slightly biased towards it. Overall, I tend to like the era of the band where Maniac was the vocalist the best.
  21. "Behold.Total.Rejection." - Revenge All poor thoughts I have had about this band are gone. I guess that I have another item to add to my list of things to buy...
  22. I will make sure to check it out. I am just getting into Peste Noire. I really like the guitar style in their songs, and their documentary was pretty funny. Which album of theirs do you like the best?
