  11. I am not sure that that is necessarily the case either. There are a myriad of examples of metal albums with cover art that does not evoke the aesthetics of horror movies at all. For instance, many atmospheric bm bands use pictures of forests.
  12. Horror does not necessarily mean bizarre, though. Many horror movies, stories, characters, etc. have become deeply ingrained in modern culture (at least in the U.S.). Some are just as typical as movies of any other genre.
  13. 7/10 Great riffs and guitar tone. It sounds very deep and dark. I like how the notes blur together, as it creates a nice flowing atmosphere to the song. I like to vocals, but not too much in this context. The deepness of the singer's voice causes his growls to blend in too much with the background music. I also liked the smooth drone swell at the very end.
  14. 6/10 I really liked the guitar tone on this song. It sounded heavy and distorted, but still clean and precise. The riffs were also catchy, and I especially enjoyed the solo part around the halfway point. Despite this, I did not care for the vocalist too much. His tone was good, but I simply found it unremarkable.

    Slayer

That was awesome - I have definitely been missing out on this band. While I still prefer Araya's vocals, the guitar work was hard to argue with. Their solo actually went somewhere too, unlike the shredding messes that Slayer usually create.
  17. That Burzum song wasn't on "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss." It was part of it for promotional purposes, and was later replaced with "Tomhet." A great song nonetheless. 4/10 I do not like how differentiated the guitar and bass are from one another. While I like having a clearly recognizable bass line, the stark difference in guitar tones makes the song sound a little bit broken apart. in general I do not care for the vocals too much. I think that they are too high for my taste. There are a few riffs throughout the song that sound pretty cool. The guitarist is clearly very talented.

For some reason, Exodus never engaged me as much as Slayer did. I will have to check them out again.

Darn, how could I have forgotten about "Decade of Aggression." I think album might jut be the best thing that they ever produced. As for their performance with Holt, I think that it is true that they got better. I remember being really impressed with the live videos I saw of him with Slayer.
  20. This site is amazing. How have I never found it before! Thanks for sharing.
