  1. I just found this band today. It came on my radio after my new favorite album, Demilich-Nespithe. Apple thought I might like this band and they were right!

  5. Phobophilic - Enveloping Absurdity, Fargo ND 2022. I bought this last fall but haven't listened to it lately. Saw it on a bunch of year end lists and now today Josh had it at #2 on his list, so I figured it was time for a refresher. Tomb Mold - Aperture of Body EP, Toronto ON 2022, same with this NYP demo. I've grown weary of Tomb Mold over the last few years, think they're a bit overrated so I haven't listened. I'd forgotten that I had even grabbed this little 3 track 13 min EP last year until Josh's list reminded me.

  7. This is my late to the party list. I was working a ton and didn't listen to as many releases as typical, but still managed to find some I thought were quite good. I find it hard to rank albums that are very different in style, but I rank them based on how much I played them on repeat. 1) Worm - Bluenothing (EP) 2) Phobophilic - Enveloping Absurdity 3) Daeva – Through Sheer Will and Black Magic 4) Wormrot - Hiss 5) Tomb Mold – Aperture of Body (EP) 6) Immolation – Acts of God 7) Undeath – It’s Time… To Risk From the Grave Honorable mentions: Spiritworld - Deathwestern

  10. In the end I suppose all that matter is we'll have a spare pair of restraints for the new comer.

Hey...I'm the sanest person I know. In fact, my court ordered therapist says they'll be taking the restraints off any day now. Oh yeah..welcome!

  12. Just voted for Cyanide - The Dying Truth. Nothing wrong with it but it does not hold my interest. I hate to agree with the GG but it is just above a MEH but not quite a GOOD.

  13. The dumpster dive involves trying to find largely forgotten old obscure albums and then have people listen to them and give their opinion on the album. I call it the Dumpster Dive because it refers to looking for treaure among thrown out rubbish.

  14. This approach doesn't always yield rewards in my experience - not that there is anything wrong with following recommendations from others but I have learned to see them as just that, recommendations. For me, the essential releases/bands were the ones that I look back on now and recognise how they shaped my metal education (dumb term but all I can think of), so I didn't actually know at the time they were essential at all - even though I might have thought I did. Just my experience and yours may be different but wanted to share anyways. NP: Onslaught - Killing Peace (2007) DISCLAIMER - Not an essential release by any means.
