  2. Re: best metal guitarist (your opinion) we finally agree on something, kinda wasn't expecting that noticed you didn't talk about Satriani or Morello though
  3. Re: Suggested bands? kinda came here by mistake and don't know much about doom metal but um pretty sure Sabbath were more traditional heavy metal, in fact they were kinda the first truly metal band and pretty much invented it, but thats probably just the opinion of someone who doesn't know what doom metal is, so far as divisions within genres I think what you've said probably applies to all subgenres in metal, its like if you play thrash but tune your guitar a certain way suddenly its a subgenre of thrash (sorry for the thrash reference but I know a hell of a lot more about that then this genre)
  4. Re: Rob VS Ronnie VS Bruce I know what you mean, I saw Maiden last year when they headlined the Soundwave music festival with Slash and Slayer (really it was this year but they billed it as Soundwave 2010), Bruce was way off even when he wasn't singing the high parts, its a shame too I was really looking forward to seeing them for the first time, Slayer were awesome and Slash was pretty good just to go off topic a little (I created the thread so I think I can do that lol) Alice Cooper and Van Halen were meant to play Soundwave 2011 but pulled out to be replaced by Marilyn Manson and Slipknot, man an I ever glad I didn't buy tickets
  5. Re: Tattoos If I'm ever gonna get a tat I want it to be something meaningful, for example I used to do Tae Kwon Do and wanted to get the Korean symbol for warrior tattooed over my heart when I became a black belt, but since going to uni I just haven't had the time to train anymore
  6. Re: I'm starting to like it here. its great to have something like this man, its cool to not here people saying stuff like "your music is so shit" or "when are you gonna stop listening to that garbage" man being the only metalhead in my family is tough so when i'm here its like hanging with friends
  7. Re: Say Cheese I've got a pic or two, but can't figure out how to put 'em up here
  8. Re: Facebook friends. if you want to add me as a friend on facebook pm me here and I'll send you a link to my page, better that way then to have it floating about on here
  9. Re: How do! Another die hard metal fan joins the forum, welcome to the family dude
  10. so a lot of established bands will tour either playing one of their classic albums all the way through or tour only playing classic material without any of their new music included, what do you guys think is this a good or a bad thing? I think it's a bad thing, sure they're exposing newcomers to songs they may not have heard before but for those who have seen the band before just hearing the same songs over and over gets pretty boring, personally I'd actually rather see a band tour with only new material as opposed to playing one classic album all the way through or only play their classics
  11. Re: Rate the song above you! that was pretty good, guitar was very good, vocals were good, 8/10 not sure what the hell this song means or if it is even metal but anyway
  12. Re: Bruce Dickinson I've got all the albums with Bruce on them, I want to add Iron Maiden and Killers to my collection but I wouldn't get the Blaze era albums even if you paid me, I did hear Bruce do Lord Of The Flies on the Death On The Road DVD and it was pretty good but I saw Maiden at an Australian music festival called Soundwave last year and Bruce's voice was way off, I hope it was just that he was sick because otherwise it means his age is really starting to show
  13. Re: Judas Priest one of my biggest regrets is not seeing Judas Priest the last time they came to Australia, I hope they'll come back one day but I don't think they will, still the fact that Rob sounds about as good now as he did when Priest first started is amazing
  14. thought I'd do something a little different and compare different incarnatins of the same band, so which do you guys think was better, the original Black Sabbath or Ronnie's version I love both versions of the band, but musically I think they were better with Ronnie and thats taking nothing away from Ozzy, a lot of his stuff was great too but Ronnie took things to a whole new level
  15. Re: Ronnie James Dio Another legend I wish I could have met, I love Ronnie's work, his voice was always incredible and his songwriting was just as good, since I never got to see him live I'm trying to find any live albums he was on, but so far all I've found is Holy Diver Live, anyone know some other live albums he was on?
  16. Re: Dimebag Darrell Cemetary Gates was the first metal song I ever heard and it just blew my mind, the way Dime went from playing clean to that brutal riff, when I first heard that I just wasn't expecting it, I now own every Pantera album, and two weeks ago I bought a guitar from his signature series, the Dean Razorback Skulls, the first song I played on it was Walk, which conincidentally was also the first song I chose to learn I wish I could have met Dime in person or seen Pantera live. R.I.P Dime we miss you
  17. Re: Ways To Kill Justin Bieber Poll this whole thing is kinda stupid, but anyway I say lock him in a room with Kerry King, no way he'd survive that experience
  18. Re: Rate the song above you! sorry man but I just couldn't sit through that, the vocals were awful even for that style they were bad, guitar was decent to the point where I'd had enough 1/10 here's something from the latest Megadeth album
  19. Re: Death sorry man, didn't know there was a band called death since i'm not into death metal, I'll make sure I'm posting in the right place next time and those death prediction things are all a load of bull, it's impossible to predict when someone is going to die
  20. Re: Death is anyone else getting depressed with all this talk about death? if so think I'll lighten the mood a little cos if there is an afterlife it means we get to hang out with guys like Ronnie James Dio and Jimi Hendrix, awesome
  21. they are perhaps the three greateat voices not just in metal history but in all of music, but the question is: who is the greatest, Rob Halford, Ronnie James Dio or Bruce Dickinson? I''m saying Ronnie because even when his health was bad he still managed to sound great and his loss was and still is one of the greatest in music history
  22. Re: Judas Priest or Motorhead? Lemmy has the better metal name but how can you say no to the boys that are Hell Bent For Leather, Breaking The Law and always Screaming For Vengeance? It's Priest all the way
  23. Re: PANTERA VS. LAMB OF GOD almost forgot, Pantera has some of the best album titles in metal as well: Cowboys From Hell, Vulgar Display Of Power, The Great Southern Trendkill, I mean come on this isn't even a discussion
  24. Re: PANTERA VS. LAMB OF GOD Lamb Of God is nothing more then a cheap Pantera knock off with a far less talented guitar player, Dime was amazing, Anselmo's vocals were great on the first album, wish he could have stayed that way, and Vinnie is one of the most under-rated drummers in metal, its Pantera all the way
  25. Re: METALLICA vs megadeth totally agree dude, dave dropped it, so should everyone else
