  1. Re: best metal guitarist (your opinion) mob-rules are you nuts, sure for a guy missing some fingers Iommi is good and he pretty much invented metal but he is by no means the best guitarist out there some people better then Iommi Uli Jon Roth Michael Schenker Dave Mustaine Kerry King Steve Vai John 5 Michaelangelo Batio K.K Downing "Dimebag" Darrell I could go on for a while longer but I think you get the idea
  2. Re: VEGETARIANISM I've had shark, its pretty good, I'll have to try snake and llama if I get the chance
  3. Re: Hello to all not too keen on Dream Theater myself, their songs are just too long, if you're into power metal HammerFall's Renegade and Iced Earth's Burnt Offerings albums are worth a look in my opinion, and Helloween is awesome
  4. Re: great albums thanks man, gotta buy a bunch of albums when I've got money again
  5. Re: Metallica I like the Thrashier Thrash bands like Exodus, Megadeth and Slayer, Overkill are pretty cool as well
  6. Re: Megadeth!!!!! and Tom Araya, Joey Belladonna could sing a bit though
  7. Re: Classic Album Tours I don't mind bands playing some old stuff, I'm just saying I'd prefer it to be more slanted towards the new stuff and play some of the better old stuff
  8. Re: VEGETARIANISM yeah, I'm not gonna be turning veggie any time soon, at least not while there's still a steady supply of beef, pork, lamb, chicken, duck and kangaroo (yeah I'm Australian we eat kangaroo here and its pretty damn tasty)
  9. Re: Hello Headbangers I'm into a lot, mainly stuff with clean vocals like Priest, Maiden, Dio, Sabbath, just discovered HammerFall and Iced Earth, also into Pantera, Exodus, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, I'm not really a fan of harsh vocals though and I am very vocal about my opinions, never afraid to speak my mind, for example personally I think it takes far more talent to sing cleanly and do it well then to do the whole "death growl" or harsh vocals thing, I mean I can't sing for crap but I get a pretty good growl going and I don't even like harsh vocals, but how many people out there can sing like Ronnie James Dio or hit notes as high as Rob Halford
  10. Re: VEGETARIANISM I've got a couple of friends who went vegan just because they felt bad about eating something that was at one point a living, breathing, creature, but even they don't like these people who are only doing it because the flavor of the week celebrity says its a good thing
  11. Re: Rate the song above you! nice Ranothin, a tribute to Dimebag (in case you didn't know), 8/10
  12. Re: Classic Album Tours I prefer to see bands play mainly their new material, I mean what's the point of making new music if you're not going to play it
  13. Re: Rate the song above you! that just gave me a headache 0/10 this is more my kind of thing
  14. Re: spotify , use it or not ? I'm probably not gonna be using that, any proceeds would probably go the the record label and then part of that would go to the band, but not much, I prefer to actually buy cds or purchase albums from itunes but thats just me
  15. Re: Favourite Vocalist Ronnie James Dio, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson and Tim "Ripper" Owens and I always used to be amazed by what Dani Filth could do back when I was into harsh vocals
  16. Re: How was your day? snapped the D string on my guitar, good thing I've got two others, dropped my Ipod Touch and it broke, and the Australian cricket team has all but lost (in Australia cricket, in fact most sports are a really big deal) so today has been a really bad day
  17. Re: What Are You Listening To? cool song HammerFall - Renegade (the whole album. I've had it on loop since I bought it)
  18. Re: Your Lyrics I think its important to just be yourself when writing lyrics, it always helps to write about what you know or what you are interested in, for example I've been working on the lyrics I posted since I finished high school and they're about my views on religion after spending my entire education in the catholic school system. I've changed them a lot from the version I first started with I also like to get feedback on my lyrics so I know whether they're actually any good
  19. Re: 334 members and where is everyone??? just did my part for the forum, told all my friends who are into metal about the forum, hopefully at least some of them will join
  20. Re: hammer fall! just discovered HammerFall through the Renegade album (thanks again for recommending that Iceni) so NTNR I'm gonna disagree with you (no shock there hahaha) I think that album's great, haven't heard any of their new stuff but I've learned the hard way that if people who like the band hate it then it must be bad
  21. Re: DragonForce's new singer I've got absolutely zero respect for dragonforce, they've never been able to structure a song, their lyrics have never been any good and the only decent member of the band has now left, I don't give a shit about his replacement either, honestly Iced Earth's Dystopia is a horrible album is a horrible album and even it is better musically then anything dragonforce has done
  22. Re: great albums thanks Iceni Renegade is an AWESOME album, I'll be adding your other suggestions to my collection when I can afford to
  23. Re: Pink Floyd Floyd is definately cool, love The Wall, you know its weird I know people who'll blast the most extreme black or death metal then put on some Pink Floyd, actually I like The Who and The Rolling Stones as well, how un-metal is that
  24. Re: Classic Album Tours those two would probably work well, but I wouldn't see 'em if they did because like I've said I like to hear bands playing their new material, if its any good that is
  25. Re: What's your dream guitar? if all you play is heavy/distorted I'd recommend looking at something with EMG active pickups, they're no good for playing clean though they distort everything, if you play stuff clean as well as distorted probably look at something with passive pickups, you can get a heavy sound from most guitars just by fiddling around with the tone knobss on both your guitar and amp til you find something you like, as for the body shape and manufacturer its down to personal preferance, I prefer Dean guitars but my neighbor only plays Ibanez and someone else I know only plays B.C Rich, its up to you, but bear in mind that normally a guitar's price is an indicator of its quality oh and sorry this post is so long but I'm always keen to help out a fellow guitar player
