  1. Re: best metal guitarist (your opinion) I was gonna through Michael Schenker in there some of his stuff is kinda cool, but he's not really metal, Uli Jon Roth is another one
  2. Re: some good power metal bands? Yngwie Malmsteen's stuff with Tim "Ripper" Owens on vocals is sort of power metal I think, even if it's not its still epic, I'm really only discovering the genre myself so I'm not exactly sure what qualifies yet
  3. Re: Rate the song above you! sorry to say I didn't like that at all, 1/10 this is probably more hard rock then metal but its awesome anyway
  4. Re: How Metal Affects You actually there are some very interesting interviews in both documentaries, the first one touches more on why people are so divided when it comes to metal, either loving or despising it, but I think the second one is more interesting
  5. Re: Ghosts certainly some weird experiences, for the lines on the mirror it could be moisture running down, but typically condensation follows an erratic pattern not perfectly straight lines EVP's are hard to explain without hearing them first but it could be background noise from a neighbouring house or from the street the figure you've described is very difficult to explain, especially given the amount of detail you're able to recall I honestly don't know what it could be but it certainly doesn't sound good I have a diary I started after my trip to Scotland with the experiences I've had and possible explanations for them, maybe something like that could help you hope i've been able to help
  6. Re: Classic Album Tours same thing when Megadeth toured Rust In Peace for the 20th anniversary last year, not all the songs on the album were great and so it didn't make for a good live show, maybe it could have worked if they did Peace Sells...But Who's Buying but I doubt it Wasn't a fan of Maiden doing that whole Somewhere Back In Time thing either, I like to hear a band play their new material, although I would like Maiden to play Rime Of The Ancient Mariner more often
  7. Re: Ghosts have to agree with you there man, I've had maybe three experiences that I can't explain but I'm gonna share the one that scared me I was in Scotland a few years back visiting family in Edinburgh and we decided it'd be a laugh to do some of the ghost tours, nothing happened on the first two we did but the third one scared the hell out of everyone in the group (including the tour guide, you'd think someone who's taking people around looking for ghosts would be used to that kind of thing) we were in what's known as the Edinburgh Vaults which is basically a whole heap of undergroud passages where the poor and the sick were thrown during the plauge, we walked into one of the rooms and heard what sounded like scratching on a door or something only none of the rooms down there have doors anymore it was so creepy but the part that really scared me was when we were leaving the room, I was the last one out but I swear to this day I felt someone grab my arm as I was leaving, you know the way a child will grab your arm when it wants your attention, it was just like that
  8. Re: 5 word thread! one more exam to go
  9. Re: 5 word thread! bummer next exam starts soon
  10. Re: Ghosts a valid point, personally I do believe in ghosts but only because of experiences I've had that lack rational explanation, I do think that all these ghost hunting tv shows are a load of crap though
  11. Re: Slasher movies speaking of actors that are just meant to play certain roles Anthony Hopkins really only ever works as the villain, and more often then not a rather intelligent villain, Hannibal Lector for example, I once saw a movie where he played the lead hero role but it just didn't work
  12. Re: Hello there mates! another addition to the ever growing Metal Forum Army, welcome
  13. Re: Favourite metal quote "It's not the size of the pencil that counts, It's how big you write your name" - Ronnie James Dio
  14. figure this probably fits in here better then in deep and meaningful So what do you guys think? do you believe in the paranormal, are you undecided or do you think its all a load of crap?
  15. Re: best metal guitarist (your opinion) the thing I like so much about Yngwie is that he can play live, there are so many guitar players out there that can only play on albums i.e. the guitarists from dragonforce John 5 is a pretty good guitar player as well, not to mention Zakk Wylde
  16. Re: Top 5 (or 10) favorite metal songs My top five Thrash Metal songs 1. Slayer - Raining Blood 2; Megadeth Rust In Peace...Polaris 3. Anthrax - Among The Living 4. Metallica - Battery 5. Megadeth - Devil's Island
  17. Re: Slayer even on the albums that aren's so good there are some good songs but its really tough with Slayer because everything they do is always going to be compared to Reign In Blood or South Of Heaven I quite like Disciple on the God Hates Us All album, Cult on the Christ Illusion album isn't bad. there are some good tracks on the World Painted Bllood album as well
  18. Re: Rate and Slate rating H.P Lovecraft, slating the Australian government
  19. Re: Pets my family has had a bunch of pets, first had a golden lab that was failed as a seeing eye dog (you know those dogs that help the blind), then some parrots that escaped about three months after we bought 'em, then we got a cat which ran away for no reason, then a blue heeler that we took in from an animal shelter but it must have been messed up by the previous owner cos it really didn't like people, then a siberian huskie and now I've got a black lab. I want to get a pet snake but that probably wouldn't go down so well
  20. Re: Books? actually I'm writing a whole heap of lyrics about Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy, not big on the whole religious deal but it does make for some interesting lyrics. funny thing is at the same time I'm working on some really Slayer-esque lyrics anyway getting back on topic I wuite like Thomas Harris' books about Hannibal Lector, you know Silence Of the Lambs, Red Dragon etc
  21. Re: James Hetfield > motley crue biggest mistake Metallica ever made was kicking Dave Mustaine out, in my opinion Megadeth has always been far better musically and lyrically but I'm getting off topic I remember hearing the story about Lars and James getting chased by Nicki Sixx, I thought it was pretty funny Lars and James being afraid of some guy who thinks he's a girl hahaha
  22. Re: a Ronnie James Dio quote yeah Ronnie was awesome, and he was always about the fans, thats something I've noticed watching interviews with him is that he was always about the fans
  23. Re: Which Sub-Genres Have The Best Lyrics? I don't care about the whole sub-genre thing, to me its all just metal so I'm gonna say metal has the best lyrics
  24. Re: Iced Earth Just discovering Iced Earth, by which I mean I know one of their songs, the song is Dracula in case you were wondering, I'm gonna be getting a lot of their albums very soon
  25. Re: Favourite Music Video? My fave music video is Metallica - One the song isn't great but the video is just eerie
