  1. Thanks alabaster. Those I will look up. Not heard of them up but I assume these are earlier albums that have bit more depth to them. Rituals is a good album with catchy songs and effective use of atmospheric samples but it's bit one tracked for me and lacks deep depth. Still like it though
  2. Machine head Yeah definitely. That was a definite high point for me on its release too. davidian is a classic from that album. It's Amazing live too. "Let freedom ring with the shotgun blast" I overplayed that album so struggle to listen to it now which is a shame Re rotting Christ there a band I didn't really get till I saw them live but I was very impressed when I saw them at bloodstock festival. They were so metal. πŸ‘»β˜ οΈπŸ’ͺ😁 I got the rituals album too. It's good and catchy. Not listened to it for a year or so but I do like it.Also Which of the early releases would you recommend.
  3. Welcome to the forum strawberry. Hope you get some good metal chat. Also what my nu metal bands are you into. Think only one I listen to occasionally is limp bizkit. But I enjoyed seeing them live 20 odd years ago and they were surprisingly good.
  4. I saw a very interesting 3 part documentary about the Jim Jones cult on BBC in the Storyville series. It starts off showing what happened at the end first. It looks like it's from a zombie movie such as Romero but it's as I remember news footage of the passed away. Sad and spooky. The documentary covers everything from the beginning to the tragic end of it all. It was so interesting, spooky and sad at same time. Very atmospheric and difficult to switch it off. The cult seemed to good to be truee to me and was although leaving the cult could be rather tricky. Bit where the cult attacked the visiting Congress people was unexpected. It was like something from a movie and more exciting than many for me
  5. Of course the alien films are good. I'm sure they count at sci fi horror. I've only seen alien and aliens. Didn't see others. Aliens is my favourite. So much action. Never lets up. So many classic scenes from the android playing that game with a knife to the final alien battle. Quality. From when I actually enjoyed James Cameron films. πŸ˜†Also Is alien 3 film good. Anybody seen that
  6. Also Alex L from children of bodum also heard dire straits being played by his dad and he too loved it and from there he got into metal Obviously great minds think alike 🀣
  7. Will you do a Metallica a unforgiven and have devil spawn sequels. Or is it standalone
  8. Great covers. Satan one is rather a interesting one. Still working out what's going on. Think I can guess most of it as I see judge wig and hands behind bars. Judus priest cover is great though Very metal and I definitely would not want to meet the judus priest man in a deserted alley πŸ˜† Same applies to exodus cover. Out of interest can album covers be put on this thread using android operating system. If so how
  9. Apparently lamb of God alcohol free beer is good. Not tried it but randy developed it with think brewdog to taste bit likebeer but not too much. Think he said he was a very very heavy drinker so he wanted this flavour profile. Obviously that's one that probably only heavy drinkers could understand. For example I know someone who is off alcohol but if they have fizzy water they will get alcohol asap and quite alot of it too. It's sad but true for some. Plus my cousin drank himself to death. Being alcoholic and working at a pub isn't best combination πŸ˜‚ I do miss him though.
  10. Diary of the dead is definitely worth seeing for a Romero fan and was imo best zombie film he did before he passed away. Rip george. For me it was a creative take on the genre with some fun moments. Yeah definitely George was insightful about the human condition. His films wouldn't have worked without that imo, and thanks for that info. His films definitely had a fun element which people liked including me and I'm guessing you too. Thanks for info re night of the living dead of the dead. May be worth another watch. Re dawn of dead, Tom savini knows special effects so well and George was wise to largely let him crack on with it. The thing soundtrack will definitely check more of that one Re carpenter brut. Yeah I know of song you mentioned and others from free album. Tbh don't listen to it that much which is shame as it's got good qualities. The film I've wanted to see for long time is the 1986 version of the fly. Looks like an interesting idea.anyone else seen this.
  11. I've definitely enjoyed listening to this one a bit. Such a good recording imo. For me band sounds so tight which is impressive considering that there a veteran band and some veteran bands just can't play live as well as they used to. ?? Also includes unexpected bit when Trevor chuggs a pint. Obviously a thirsty man. ?
  12. Great keep us informed. Devils spawn is a cracking song.
  13. Thanks for the recommendation re suspiria. Ok original is best like alot of them. In my experience remakes are more polished but they lose some of the original energy. Of course there are some good ones. I just can't think of too many. Yeah you may well have seen the Jim Jones documentary. It's on the Storyville series which BBC showed.
  14. Cool fact, my cousin's wife worked on think it was Romeros diary of the dead film as a crew member. I always thought that was cool plus I liked the film as it was very differet take on the genre but I liked it, have you seen this movie. Yeahh good one. J&b being a sponsor of the thing? but considering the amount it's placed in film it could be. I've seen a few Romero films. The first one is one of my favourites. Not seen it in a while but liked that. Thought black man playing one of the main characters did a good job .plus it wasa well done movie.would need to see it again. Think it was night of the living dead but not seen in years. Dawn of the dead original is way better than remake imo too. Just works better and flows better for me. The film's special effects by Tom savini are good and slightly amusing at times for me anyway although at the time they were probably cutting edge. Thanks for ? re the thing soundtrack. May have to check this out on you tube. Tbh I know as much as you do re carpenter brut but I can appreciate his talent. Im bit rigid liking bands with guitars in them and not sure carpenter brut has guitar in At least youve heard of it. In all honesty you probably know more about this band than me. ?
  15. https://images.app.goo.gl/ZjMjPCboquXpSdyx7 Megadeth rust in peace cover has always been a classic to me. In fact I can't even remember if I liked this before I started listening to metal. I definitely remember seeing the t shirt a few times and thinking what a cool cover. Also my 3 year old son thinks it's great cover to. I'd got postcards of it in a metal magazine, he insisted it be put on his wall until my wife said no chance. Some people ehh Ok this is rust in peace link. ? Peace sells is another cover that I really like https://images.app.goo.gl/LWKo9zkp8hnbGUzE6
  16. Wow what amazing cover art. Thanks for posting these macabre. Thanks father alabaster for above tips. Yeah makes no sense to have two threads for same thing.
  17. I'm a subscriber to metal hammer ? magazine in the UK. And although I don't read it that much I've found some gems in there I wouldn't have found on my own. I listen to mostly the smaller bands and there featured in this magazine even if it's just in review section. But one thing I hate is how the reviews are all in one section now where in the past there was a generalvreview section for big bands and a underground section.(not sure it was that underground but some bands Def were) It made it easier having the two sections because in the underground section the band's I liked were much easier to find but now I have to trawl through all the more commercial bands until I find a good album
  18. 1)Slow, 2) Metallica cliff Burton era 3)hamferd 4)wolves in the throne room 5)bismuth
  19. Yowie good to hear from you. I've listened more to the cremated enemy album and it's more death metal for me. Real classic stuff reminds me of obituary in places. Something about some of solos especially. When I listen to devils spawn that's got a big lamb of God sound in there. The tunes amazing though, so catchy. May well Check out newer stuff onyou tube. Thanks Thanks for singing tips. ? Yeah definitely if you've got project I'd be interested and no doubt a few others including ludo would be too.
  20. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm also a George Romero zombie film fan too. I've seen a few of his zombie movies. Dawn of the dead is a good theme. Really captures the mood and reminds me of the movie which I liked. Music was bit hit and miss on the film but the theme is spot on for me. Re the thing I've seen the movie and liked that and the theme music is really good for the Antarctica setting of the film. Not seen it in a while but brings back good memories of the film. I remember Kurt russel drinking scotch a fair bit on that movie ? mind you I'd probably be having a few in that situation ? return of the living dead is very catchy and reminds me bit of that composer called carpenter brut thinks that's it. Got a free sample cd from metal hammer ? magazine. Have you heard of this artist Thanks NAT for this suggestion. Its a good creepy theme.vthe vocals and music are far from perfect but it works very well together. Not seen movie but may well look it up. As mad as it sounds it brings back memories of the 3 part documentary I watched about Jim Jones and his cult. Must be something about the vocals. The documentary is recommended viewing but not appropriate for this thread. ☺️
  21. And another band is Fallujah. There dreamless album I liked but album after I did not like. the singer left and he sings differently. I've not take to it. Has anyone got examples of where personel change in a band they like has not worked for the better.
  22. Out of interest what are people's favourite horror theme tunes. For me Halloween is really good and one of my favourites. So catchy and simple but so effective for me anyway.
  23. Yeah definitely agree with you about blockbuster Natassja. I found some gems just by browsing. If you like ring and silent hill film Dark water is worth watching plus its one I discovered at blockbuster. It's by ring author. Worth a download imo. Japanese version is better one Yeah wicker Man. Looking forward to seeing that again.
  24. Father alabaster thanks for the technical details. Very interesting. Definitely agree with you that using the tools to do a great job is essential and especially for cover art as I can imagine it's very competitive area of work.
