  1. I've pre ordered the new pallbearer album. I liked the preview track as was very doomy and heavy but also very catchy. Ive been a fan for a few years so am looking forward to this and seeing them live when they play the UK next year that is assuming I have any money. That's the problem with shortly having 3 kids in nursery. ?
  2. Seems like a good trade as long as they fit ok.you could keep a few for that distressed look. Re new t shirts I left my wife to buy me a wintersun t shirt but its so tight so I can't wear it. My wife's convinced it's ok but I wear things too baggy. Some people ? so I buy my own t shirts now. At least you did not have that problem. I love that album too not so keen on all the chapel burnings but the music is spot on. The album picture is great too My latest purchase was the Jones town dyatlov t shirt bundle. I got a really interesting t shirt with one interesting pattern on it probably from one of those eastern religions with thick good quality print on a solid t shirt. Will last a few years plus it fits great because I ordered it and not the wife? also I got the cd which will be useful in the car especially as a tactic to duck driving when I'm tired. It's 100% the drivers choice to pick the music in my household?
  3. Good to hear from you. Definitely doom for me is like saying life can be terrible but I'm just gonna carry on as long as I can. Fuck you, as know ones lasting forever and too many people have sad deaths. But that's just my view. slow's dantalion album is very good with huge Himalayan crunching bass lines, wow so powerful, worth checking out. your description of what people like about doom is what lots say they like about it including me sometimes Recent album I got was officium triste. It's quite good with big influences of early paradise lost, my dying bride but adds some thing to those bands. Of course that candlemass epicus doomicus album has some absolute amazing live tracks on it. So been listening alot to those. Your right some times you need a break from doom Music by watchin something funny
  4. For me after reading one of wintersun statements the pateron thing is just another way to support wintersun. I assume other bands do this all the time although pateron is new to me. It's not like you have to sign up and it's entirety voluntary. Maybe more bands will do things like pateron in the future with Corona situation stopping tours. I agree though bands need support in this day where not so many actual albums are bought as mp3 or cds and most of it seems to be streamed. I hope they will get a positive outcome so wintersun will release another album before too long. Not really decided if I will use it though.
  5. Thanks for this info and what you've previously said in this thread.much appreciated.? I want to support my favourite bands so I buy the merch to do this plus I get some good stuff as well. I normally buy stuff only at shows.id assume most of time this is good way to support bands. I have no knowledge how online sales works for bands but have suspected it was not as rosy as the line band camp talk about if your on a label. Your right even if the label takes all the money from online sales it might not be as bad you first see it as they sometimes do alot of stuff which some bands would not be able to do such as promotional stuff such as organising contacting the press etc like you said previously. The label might even apply for band sponsership too or grants for the band. I know of some bands with sponsers which hopefully helps them to devote more time to producing the best music they can ?
  6. Thanks for the update. I can't believe this saga is still going on.i thought they would have had a studio with half million euros. Im a big fan of there music whenever they release any which is not very often. Your right it's a bit of a mess. I too liked the forest seasons even if it was imo not quite as good as previous album's. 2 things unlikely to happen anytime soon Englands football team lifting the world cup or time 2 being released ? will definitely keep a track of this as big fan of winter sun. Thanks
  7. Thanks for your answer. My query was re who takes the money after the band camp fees have been taken. I guess for record label bands depends on the deal they've signed up to so I won't know unless they tell me and there unlikely to do that. Probably best to buy the merch live when lockdown ends at gigs. ?
  8. I wanted to get some merch from One of my favourite bands Jonestown. There a British deathcore band. I contacted them on Facebook so they say you can only buy merch on band camp or live which ain't happening now. I bought some merch but still have no idea who gets the money. Is it them or there record company. Does it matter. Im just intrigued of who gets the money.is it still case record company gets record sales and band gets money from the t shirt and other merch sales. I asked Jonestown who gets what but I've got no answer.
  9. Immortal- pure holocaust: love this record. And from what I heard so far. The most extreme of there music. Ive only heard first 3 album's and battles of the north. Emperor of sand- Mastodon a good solid Mastodon album.for me Does not change there sound too much and but is good. Some say it's a nod to album's distant now of there's. Candlemass- doomicus epicus metalicus. Very good album and the download I got from Amazon features some absolutely amazing live tracks from Birmingham. Wow those tracks are fucking amazing. It's odd when live tracks are better than the album tracks and the album tracks are great too the live tracks have so much energy from the crowd and great showmanship by the singer. Not biggest candlemass fan so don't know who singer is.
  10. Good maiden story. Bruce went to school in town I'm from for a bit and he did one of his first gigs at the local pub. People talk about it to this day. Then again he's one of the best. Your Music sounds good. Good luck with doing proper unpolished metal. You know what I mean ? The guitar collection is cool. Googled some of them. You've got some sweet guitars. ? Welcome again to the forum
  11. Your right I was being silly. Damaging hearing is no laughing matter even if it's just mine that gets affected. Even before today I was thinking i should be more careful. ?
  12. Pure holocaust is amazing album. So fast and so much going on. For me this would be best live but missed that chance so best option I got is to be played really loud through headphones. I will probably go deaf but at least I was happy doing so.? You can see why one of them got tendonitis from playing this pace of music. I assume it was to do with this? Will probably try out at heart of winter as fair few people talk highly of it. Also have you seen them live.
  13. Ok great so it's not just me who has tried to listen to the new prog stuff but just does not really like it. I'm not even sure it's good for prog music then again they do popular tours all the time so they must be doing some thing right . Do you reckon the change in sound may be to do with Michael akerfeldt protecting his voice as not everyone can sing harsh vocals forever just an idea after watching a you tube video when he sung poorly and the vocal coach said excellent voice protecting technique for when doing harsh vocals.
  14. My humble opinion is prob record company wanted something shorter and punchier for MTV. It's a shame really as by taking out the slower bits the song loses alot of its atmospheric qualities.
  15. Do you think the powerslave period was the highest they went. So many classics on that album and live shows I assume we're amazing with the classic line up. Imo opinion dianno is fantastic singer but when in maiden there music was not playing to his strengths. He did amazing considering this. Mind you who am I to say as many consider him there best singer. Also Did it seem like you were watching one of the best metal bands ever on the powerslave tour.
  16. With the case of opeth. More of a case of oh dear for me. I know they've got alot of fans still. But for me they used to be so good when they were playing metal with loads of other genres mixed in, they were one of my favourite bands. First two albums are some of my favourite albums. I guess Michael akerfeldt got bored of doing metal and just stopped doing it. I reckon opeth should have dropped that name and called themselves some thing else when they went all prog. What was it you just did not get with the opeth prog stuff. For me it was the loss of extreme contrast from heavy stuff to beutifull light sections. Also what other bands should just drop there name and start again with a new one when they completely change there style of music. It's a crazy idea but theres certain amount of logic to it.
  17. Those two albums really were some thing. They were 2 years before I was born but still top albums that you can ingnore. First three tracks of priest British steel are almost perfect for me. Not biggest priest fan but I know this was has inspired countless bands and I know great bands when I hear them. Even though I'm not biggest fan. to make iron Maiden record the journey had been hard with some 20 odd band member personal changes but nothing was going to stop Harris and his vision of a truly unique sound, well certainly very unique to my ears. Classic tracks most of them. Charlot the harlot is great and probably top one. Paul dianno had that edge to his voice which was great. . Did not see him live but have seen some of the killers tour on you tube and he does a great job, just so good. This is the first of a few really top albums by the maiden. Classic metal.Would say I saw them on tour during there golden age but I was born same year as number of the beast so did not make it?
  18. Thanks for spotting this. It was an overly aggressive response. After all you can't expect everyone to Google every band you mention without giving some good reasons to do so and none were given when said band was mentioned.
  19. Will stick to music definitely as that's the positive part of the early black metal scene or whatever you call this period. Although the book and the movie are not accurate portrayals of the scene, I definitely think the church burnings and the murders were plain wrong imo For me I listen to bands for good music and that's it. I don't really want all that bono political stuff. That's just how I see it. ? I want to rock out ???maybe with some ????
  20. Welcome to the forum. Hope you get some good chats on here. There is a good one at moment about iron maiden self titled album and judus priest British steel akbum as 40th anniversary for both this year plus thread titled when bands pissed off there fans which I set up got a few people talking but mostly me ? Your guitars collection sound good whats your favourite. Also hope you get demo done. What genre of metal is that in.
  21. Absolutely 200 percent ? listen to what you like even if it's santa doing black metal on a banjo while water skiing with a beer hat on. ?And crazy thing is I've had nothing to drink. ?Just out of interest who's your top 3 doom metal bands regardless of sub genre labels. Hamferd is one of my top ones. Never thought some thing so good would come from Faroe Islands. And this is extreme stuff ?might have gone off topic
  22. Can you elaborate on how the above relates to women in metal. I assume sixsters have women in the band. Also what's the issue with the link. Did you pay for the album and it did not work.
  23. Welcome to the forum. Ocean of grief sound good and atmospheric black metal can be good too. May just check both those bands you mentioned out. Can't beat a bit of atmospheric metal for a bit of escapism. Well that's what I like about it.
  24. ?To be honest would have to listen to some burzum before I can comment any more. What are your top picks. I take it you like the early stuff plus at least 1 of the ambient prison releases.
