  7. Thank you! I think of these paintings as surrealist, primarily, especially in the last few years. I've felt a kinship with the classic Surrealists since I was a kid looking at Dalí paintings, and the more I read of what they were thinking about, the more I find that resonates with me. But there were some modernists and post-modern/ab ex painters who gave me a lot to chew on when I was in school, and then on the other side of things I'm a sucker for medieval art and French neoclassical painting. I'm beginning to feel the need to work on some more overtly expressive stuff, after I get through this next tranche of ideas. I'm just sort of seeing where it goes.

  8. Yep, mate. If you come to Sydney again I will get off my arse and drive to Sydney to hang with you and if it's the right time of year we will go to a game.. And Carlos and you and my son and I will go to a gig or two and a pub or two. Except maybe not the son as he is off to London for a few years later in the year. And it's 'league' or 'the footie.' Rugby is what the toffs play at private schools (and Islanders, but that's another matter) and what toffs and would be toffs watch. I may be a highly educated, refined and diffident professional, but I am a Westie and a leaguie. Parra matters.

  9. Great work as always.....you have such a distinctive style....would you describe your style as surrealism or a form modernism or post modernism? It's very articulate and naturalistic in a sense but also fantastical and abstract in some of your conception and highly imaginative to the point of being disturbing, but I mean that in a good way in the way film and, of course avant and progressive metal can be gripping, thought provoking, challenging and disturbing at the same time.

  10. Last time we did a 5 week round trip to Sydney with a 9 day side trip to NZ and back in the middle. Next time we'll probably do more like 3 weeks in NZ (Auckland & Tauranga) with a little 5 or 6 day side trip to OZ and back. Just don't think I could stand to be around my mother-in-law any longer than that without my late wife there as a buffer tbh. Would be fun to meet up with Doc though if I thought he could be bothered to get off his arse and make an effort. Canberra is not all that far from Sydney but it's far enough that it'd be a hardship for me to tey and get out there without a car. We know how diffident the ole Doc can be so I won't hold my breath that he would even care to come out and slum it with the loudmouthed Yank in Sydney. He did say he'd take me to a rugby match though so who knows. But with any luck I could find a way to get together with Carlos again, maybe we could meet up and see another Aussie band play at one of his local Marrickville Inner West pubs like we did last time or have some hipster lefty lattes together or something. He's quit forumming with us several years ago now but I still run into him on FB every once in a blue moon and I do really like the bloke. My wife has a coussie in Perth as well, might like to see if I could figure out a plan to get out that way to see her and then look up Fernando while I'm out there but that probably won't happen.

  11. The is a separate section of this forum dedicated to men's feelings where they discuss relationships and romance. It can't be seen by females and those using it are told not to speak about it with the general public.

  13. Oh I agree that your reviews are usually more entertaining. I think the short reviews you offer, especially on albums you don't like, are very entertaining.

  14. Yeah but I ask you: whose answer might you reasonably expect to be more entertaining and less grammatically confusing? Mine or Sweets'? And I don't mean more entertaining in the unintentional sort of way.

  18. Bruce>Paul>>>>>>>>>>>Blaze. But to echo the General, everyone has the right to enjoy who and how they see fit. Just because everyone doesn't recognize that Bruce is a member of the unholy Trinity of greatest metal vocalists along with Halford and Dio, doesn't make them wrong, just misguided. For the record, Lemmy doesn't count because as we all know he is in fact the almighty. Neither does Ozzy as the Prince of Darkness. We're talking lesser gods here.
