  1. Good luck. That is what I am struggling with the most. ?
  2. Those lyrics are horrible. However, they are good songs nonetheless.
  3. "In the Glare of Burning Churches" - Graveland
  4. In a way, that was how I felt when I first got into black metal. I had to train my ears to like it. However, I could feel from the beginning that there was something in bm that I would like. I just don't feel the same with modern death metal. Every time I hear it it sounds bland and sterile.
  5. I feel the same about the brutal stuff. I sometimes listen to it on rare occasions, but usually avoid it. Your description of tech death describes my feeling of the style. I do not find it moving at all. Be sure to check out "Terra Damnata" by Nightbringer if you haven't already. It was an awesome example of atmospheric bm.
  6. Dave Mustaine posted a picture on Twitter of all of the Bill O'Reilly books that he had read, and then asked if O'Reilly would advertise the new Dystopia album on his show. O'Reilly agreed, and played a portion of one of the music videos at the end of his show. Here's a link with a video from the show. http://www.metalinjection.net/metal-in-the-mainstream/bill-oreilly-acknowledges-that-megadeths-dave-mustaine-acknowledged-him
  7. Mine: Improve my painting skills. Record/write music. Find new bands to listen to/listen to more old bm.
  8. Metallica and Megadeth both got me into metal (and Bill O'Reilly got me into Megadeth, but that is irrelevant), but I would have to say Metallica. I like their slow songs and simply enjoy their music more.
  9. This morning I listened to: "Eastern Frontier in Flames" - Drudkh "The Spirit Never Dies" - Nokturnal Mortum/Graveland "Thousand Swords" -Graveland
  10. "The Great Cold Steppe" - Windswept
  11. "Eastern Frontier in Flames" - Drudkh
  12. I was just given a hand-me-down keyboard, and now plan to begin composing some dungeon synth.
  13. I completely agree. One must have an understanding of something before they can fairly criticize it.
  14. I was given a few cds and a shirt for Christmas: "Eastern Frontier in Flames" - Drudkh "Exercises in Futility" - Mgla "The Great Cold Steppe" - Windswept (thanks to @FatherAlabaster for the recommendation) Burzum "Hvis Lyset Tar Os" shirt
  15. The same thing with repetition happens to me, but usually only when listening to stuff online. The nagging feeling that I could be listening to anything else in the world makes me lose my focus. That's why I prefer cds. That was certainly not their best work. However, I generally like the band. DF is simple and easy to listen to.
  16. That's cool that you make your own vegan substitutes. I'm a vegetarian (moving towards vegan), but usually I just eat pre-made stuff.
  17. Honestly, I was surprised how simple the Darkthrone riffs were on TH when I first looked into them. However, I came to appreciate them much more after learning to play some of them.
  18. "Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk" - Emperor
  19. "When Gods Leave Their Emerald Halls" - Drudkh
  20. Sounds good (minus the bacon). How are the potatoes on the pizza prepared?
  21. "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss" - Burzum

    Books?

Just read the Tao Te Ching today. It was a very interesting book. I read that years ago, and remember enjoying it. However, I cannot remember that much about it.
