  1. I checked them out, but to be honest don't really even get the whole format. If a person is super skilled in something, or a public figure to begin with.. then maybe. I guess i'm old but watching people do just regular stuff ain't my kinda way to spend time. ?
  2. Yeah quite enjoying them. Quite happy that this forum has given me the spark to check out plenty new albums i've never heard before. Should have done it ages ago.
  3. I had no idea they are doing some good stuff again! The last album i bought was Midian, and listened to it extensively. I was bit sad what he did with Devilment, i like some of the music though. As far as i know he sort of overtook that band under his thumb. He heard the band, enjoyed it.. pushed himself to be their singer.. then took over the whole thing.. not cool. That said, in the end of the day.. the only thing that really matters to me is if i like the music or not. I can´t remember, or imagine ever boycotting a band because i don´t like a person or their actions. Time to go check out Cryptoriana while i have a moment for myself now.
  4. Well, i bought a microphone (and starting to build a rack.. Furman power conditioner as a starting point.) I was sure i would get a Shure SM58, because it´s basically the industry standard, but just for a laugh checked some alternatives. After plenty of research, comparisons and whatnot, ended up buying a Rode M1. It has lifetime warranty, it´s tiny bit cheaper and to my ear sounds better in almost all applications. I think out of all the comparisons, the only thing i liked the sound of SM58 a tiny bit more, is recording acoustic guitar. Rode is of course hugely more modern microphone too, SM58 was introduced in the 60s (or 70s) i think.
  5. Check thuleanperspective in youtube, and let your mind be blown. ? EDIT:Aaaaand youtube has deleted his channel.. oh the world of today.. ? Basically Varg Vikernes had a vlog style youtube channel for years, where he would talk about his music, his views, life before and after prison, Burzum and plenty of the old BM scene. Shame that it got deleted.. even if you don´t agree with him, he had a lot of interesting content and subjects. EDIT2: his Bitchute channel: https://www.bitchute.com/channel/thuleanperspective/ Full archive of his videos: https://archive.is/KMg5X Sorry if i got it bit offtopic, but the point before my edits was that if theres Burzum stuff coming out, he will surely announce it in his chosen channels of communication..
  6. Oh right, of course. I was trying to think the english equivalent but couldn't come up with anything, silly me. I guess google would have helped. ? Yup, "Kuuhulluus" is indeed still commonly used and it's used only in its literal sense.
  7. Well, it´s classified as an "example why it´s a good idea to learn midi humanize and velocity tweaking", metal.. not so much. Now, because my opening statement could be considered "harsh", some good words need to follow. "All I know is that writing this and listening to it made me feel better." That´s exactly what music is about! Expressing yourself, getting a mental relief and a source for enjoyment. It´s amazing that you have found a way to use your adversities to spark creativity. Just keep doing stuff, and you will constantly evolve and learn new things, therefore getting even more tools to use your creativity with.
  8. Well well.. checked it out on youtube.. seems to be a solo blackmetal project.. and quite gringeworthy one too. At least the guy is really into what he is doing (and theres some nice musical stuff here and there).
  9. We actually have a common term in Finland for the effects moon has. It´s called Kuuhulluus (Moon craziness), and a person who is prone to this is called Kuuhullu (Moon crazy). ?
  10. Got a business and family to run, my own music projects and who knows what. Besides saving money atm on couple goodies i most certainly need. (E-Drumkit being one of them). ?
  11. At least in theory it´s in the realm of possiblity for me since i am located quite close (west coast of Finland), but it´s not going to happen for various reasons. Got too much to do, more important things to spend my money on etc.
  12. Now there´s a classic! (I really enjoy Vader version btw, even if it is a touch too polished.)
  13. I think i might have expressed myself bit.. unclearly now that i read it again. (Full) moon is an absolutely stunning thing, and full of mystery that has captivated human thoughts through our entire existense. You can get seriously mesmerized by it, from its function (entire universe does that to me really) to the eerie visual treat it offers. It was just the eclipse part that was rather disappointing, i was hoping for this feeling of unease in my stomach which ie. (near) total solar eclipse will give me.. but there was none of that.
  14. I hope you find the strength you need in such a dire situation, nothing is as frustrating as a loved one who is on the path of causing harm for themselves. At least she is now safe, and the fact that you are there for her must be hugely important, there are so many people struggling same kind of issues alone. I really admire your courage for sharing such sensitive matters, and i hope the situation evolves to something much better!
  15. Hmm.. i was figuring, since i am super lazy to find new bands to enjoy. Hell, or even take time to look into a band properly that i enjoy some songs from, i am going to take it as my mission to dive more deeply into them. Already started with My dying bride like i stated in their topic, and i've found many songs i really enjoy and never heard before. This will be hugely beneficial to me, and something i really should have put effort towards long ago. It was as clear as can be here, but to be honest wasn't really that amazing. In no way comparable to the eerie atmosphere a full eclipse creates.
  16. Hi and welcome! Nice to see a proper introduction! We have decent people here who come with many different tastes to metal. Personally i have a wide range of musical interests, and i listen to most metal genres, and beyond metal too. My teenage bands were mainly goth, thrash, black and death metal. I hope you enjoy it here, and become a regular! Theres not always a wealth of discussion when you look at the amount, but the quality is par to none i dare to say. Some "huge" bands for me (The older albums, almost as a rule..). Long list, but i could keep on going forever really.. Vader, Carcass, Sepultura, Shape of despair, Entombed, Trees of eternity, Waste of space orchestra, Gojira, Morbid angel, Marduk, The kovenant, Burzum, Paradise lost, hypocrisy, Forest of shadows, Mayhem, Alien fucker, Waltari, Gorgoroth, Old man´s child, The vision bleak, Wintersun, Dimmu borgir, Lake of tears, Amorphis, Alcest, Nocturnal depression, Make a change.. kill yourself, Theatre of tragedy, Annihilator, Megadeth, Novembers doom, Dark funeral, Arch enemy, Cannibal corpse, Six feet under, Batushka, Deicide, Behemoth, HIM, Celtic frost, Sentenced, Immortal, Dark Tranquillity, Sisters of mercy, The garden of delight, London after midnight, Fields of the nephilim, Rad hot chili peppers, The doors, Electric Six, Apoptygma Berzerk, Diary of dreams, Hocico, Throes of dawn, Informatik, Anathema, Culture Kultür, Lazerhawk.
  17. 38.. Somehow ageing doesn´t really give me any sort of anxiety whatsoever, where others really seem to struggle with the concept. It is what it is, make the best of it.. we are meaningless, irrelevant creatures here only for a tiny visit anyway. Enjoy the things you can, Do something with the things you can do something about, and stop worrying about the things you can´t effect. My motto right there.
  18. I haven´t given this band nearly enough attention. I have only one "best of" album, Meisterwerk 2, and i adore almost every track there. I´ve heard some other songs every now and then, i´ve never really gotten familiar with the band beyond that. This is again a question of not having enough time, and even more being plain lazy. I´m going to fix that error, following Requiems ranking list.
  19. Just go to the part with sax! Love the mix, even when theres lots of going on, i get no ear fatigue and hear everything really well.. I´ll keep listening.. It will take quite few listens to really get the grasp of everything. So far i like it, in all it´s complexity it´s still quite atmospheric, and the later one is the thing what usually gets its hooks on me.
  20. Thanks, have totally missed that (like a lot of things i´d imagine).
  21. Welcome! Midian is still my favourite COF album, even if i was well in my adulthood when it was released and grew with their older stuff.
  22. Don´t keep us in suspense about how it went. ? Sounds like fun times for sure!
