  1. The only Saxon album I’ve heard so far is Power & The Glory, so I’ll probably say that’s the best album, at least until I check out more of their albums.
  2. While I had grown up liking the metal songs on Guitar Hero and Rock Band, I didn’t really start getting into metal until I was 16 (3 years ago). I joined this forum and a metal Facebook group, got recommendations, and increased my knowledge of metal. I remember my mother being worried about my “obsession with heavy metal” and being afraid that I was going to start doing drugs, getting tattoos, and worshipping Satan. After 3 years, my mother is fine with my love of heavy metal, and I haven’t done any of the stereotypes. When I was 16, I started with thrash metal since I was already into Metallica. But after a while, I started exploring other sub genres and becoming familiar with many different bands. So far, I’ve learned a lot about music in general since I’ve started really listening to metal. I don’t regret it at all. So here’s to 3 more years, if not 50 more. ?
  3. Nazareth - Close Enough For Rock N’ Roll
  4. The Persuaded - Dawn Of Destruction
  5. I always get Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky mixed up for some reason. Probably with the fact that they both end in “sky”. I also forgot to add the first movement of Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 to this list. It sounds a good bit like metal.
  6. Since classical music is pretty much “heavy metal before electricity”, does anybody know any good classical pieces that sound a bit like heavy metal? Here’s some of the pieces I’ve come up with so far: 1. Beethoven’s 5th 2. Tchaikovsky’s Rites of Spring (kind of sounds like “Hooch” by the Melvins) 3. Grieg’s Peer Gynt (In The Hall of the Mountain King)
  7. Since the week of Mardi Gras is still going on, I was wondering: is there any kind of “Cajun metal”? By that, I mean metal with elements of Cajun music.
  8. I’ve been listening to Elvis since it’s his birthday. Also, I’ve been listening to Rammstein during this morning’s workout.
  9. Danzig - Danzig Judas Priest - British Steel Motörhead - Ace of Spades
  10. I saw this funny video about Jim Carrey the other day. He was talking about how he couldn’t get enough of this “thrash metal” music, which he calls Napalm Death. He imitates the vocals, and ends up predicting Metalcore before it’s time.
  11. I agree with Parker that the Doors were really good. In my opinion, they’re the second best psychedelic rock band, with the Jimi Hendrix Experience being first. Also, Jim Morrison was a real legend. He lived on his own terms and did things his way. If only we all did that...
  12. Danzig - Danzig (1988) Danzig’s first album has become my go-to album for weight lifting.
  13. Dirty Harry I don’t trust this kid any further than I could throw him.
  14. Tokyo Drift “I pity your wife if you think six minutes is forever.”
  15. Wes Montgomery - Road Song Count Basie and His Orchestra - Sixteen Great Performances Getting in the mood for a jazz concert tonight.
  16. Have you ever checked out Bill McClintock’s YouTube videos? He does a good job mixing completely different songs.
  17. Today is the biggest shopping day of the year for my workplace, Unclaimed Baggage Center. I’m ready to work until 8, and to go see Bohemian Rhapsody with a girl I’m seeing after work.
  18. Michael Jackson - Beat It KC & The Sunshine Band - That’s The Way I Like It Finally, some good music is playing at work.
  19. As some of the forum members (myself included) are still in their teens, I wonder: are there any crazy teenage memories that forum members would like to share? Because everyone needs a good laugh every once in a while. To start this off, one of mine was the time when my friends and I rolled the yard of a man who owned the local pawn shop. What we didn’t know was that he had security cameras watching the yard. He came out of the house and yelled, “What the hell is it?!?”. We got scared and yelled, “Don’t shoot!”. He said, “You must be crazy to think that I’m gonna shoot y’all. I thought y’all were fighting because everyone moved around so much!”
  20. Dee Snider - For The Love Of Metal Confunkshun - Loveshine
  21. I’ve actually just started getting into death metal recently, but my favorite bands are Cannibal Corpse, Arch Enemy, and Death.
  22. Just bought Dee Snider’s “For The Love Of Metal” yesterday. It’s a great album overall.
  23. There are many upsets going on in college football today, especially in the SEC. I’m starting to worry that Alabama vs Missouri could be the next upset. But as usual, I think the Tide will put this one out.
