  1. I just went to my first metal show last Friday, and it was a pretty good show. The lineup was The Persuaded, A World Turned Black, and The Protest. My neck is still a little sore from headbanging. I do wish a mosh pit would have started though.
  2. Not bad at all. It sounds a lot like Bullet For My Valentine.
  3. That sounds pretty good. I can definitely hear the Kyuss influence in those songs. Keep up the good work. ?
  4. 1. The Jimi Hendrix Experience - One of the first bands that got me into blues and pyschedelic rock. They still amaze me to this day. 2. Black Sabbath - One of my favorite metal bands, and very influential to metal in general. 3. Metallica - They introduced me to thrash metal, and pretty much just metal in general. However, albums such as “Lulu” and “Load” would get limited airplay on the island. 4. AC/DC - One of the first rock bands that I really started getting into (besides Aerosmith). I could duck walk on the island for exercise. 5. Led Zeppelin - Another good rock band that influenced metal. One of the first bands that I started collecting many albums on vinyl with.
  5. The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Axis: Bold As Love
  6. Seven (or Se7en) Nothin’ worth braggin’ about.
  7. 1. Sonny Rollins - Blue 7 (some good old jazz) 2. The Troggs - Wild Thing (a good classic that even Hendrix performed) 3. Sleep - Nain’s Baptism (finally some metal) 4. John Coltrane - Everytime We Say Goodbye (surprised at how much jazz is showing up already) 5. Miley Cyrus - The Climb (that’s Mom’s music, not mine) 6. Tupac - All Eyez On Me (some good old gangsta rap) 7. Tupac - Can’t C Me (2 rap songs in a row) 8. Sleep - From Beyond (about time some more metal showed up) 9. The Surrey With the Fringe On Top - Wes Montgomery (How much jazz do I have on here?!) 10. AC/DC - For Those About To Rock (We Salute You) (a good rock anthem) Turns our there was a bit of variety in this list. A bit of rock, metal, jazz, pop, and rap in these 10 tracks. I’m not too surprised at the list, considering that I’ve always been a person that likes variety.
  8. Dokken - Breaking the Chains (Album)
  9. Sounds like you got some good protein. Have you ever tried Salted Caramel flavored oatmeal? It’s great.
  10. Welcome to the forum. I didn’t know they used “ya’ll” in Bulgaria. I just thought it was a Southern USA thing.
  11. Greta Van Fleet - Safari Song I’m starting to get into this band a little bit.
  12. Due to the length of some songs and albums, I’ve been wondering: Does listening to stoner doom help your attention span become longer? For example, I’ve heard of people who can pay attention to all of Sleep’s “Dopesmoker”, which is a little more than 1 hour long.
  13. 1. Black Sabbath 2. Pentagram 3. Type O Negative 4. Sleep
  14. I did think a bit about variety when it came to this list, but if I chose more of a variety, then some of my favorite albums wouldn’t have made the list. I thought about possibly putting Metallica’s “Kill Em’ All” or Mayhem’s “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” on the list to add more variety. I would have added those two albums if I could take 10 metal albums to a desert island instead of just 5.
  15. For dinner, I had Lean Cuisine chicken fettuccini. Usually I’m not somebody who likes to eat the same thing over and over, but I’m still enjoy this stuff after a few months of eating it.
  16. Usually when I think of funk metal, I usually think of Rage Against The Machine and Suicidal Tendencies, since they both have elements of funk in their music. But for the most part, I am new to this style, so I would appreciate some recommendations of this stuff or just recommendations for funk music in general.
  17. Some of the nu-metal bands have rap in their music, such as Limp Bizkit, Saliva, and P.O.D. . You might want to check out the nu-metal forum on here.
  18. I haven’t listened to Abbath much, but I do recall reading an article about Abbath in one of my Guitar World magazines a few years back. I checked out one or two of their songs, and thought it was alright (considering the fact that I had never really listened to Black Metal until this year). I need to re-read that article, listen to them again soon, and see what I think about them now that I am getting used to the raw sound of black metal.
  19. That’s a pretty cool story. Hellhammer’s response was pretty funny, and the one thing that would have made it funnier is if the guy who asked the question yelled “One bottle of coke please!” to the bartender. Anyways, I agree that De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is a good album. I haven’t checked out Grand Declaration of War yet, but I might need to check that out in the next few weeks.
  20. 1. Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath (Good classic album that I’ve greatly admired since the first time I heard it) 2. Black Sabbath - Sabotage (Another great classic Sabbath album which had influences on thrash (ex. Symptom of the Universe) and NWoBHM (ex. Megalomania) ) 3. Judas Priest - British Steel (A great classic album with power and heaviness. If you could only listen to 5 metal albums for the rest of your life, who wouldn’t want to listen to the Metal Gods?) 4. Type O Negative - Bloody Kisses (A great album that got me interested in gothic rock and gothic metal. It has quite some heaviness and just a great feeling overall.) 5. Rage Against The Machine - Renegades (A great album that combines rap with metal. It would pump me up for when I would have to hunt down dangerous animals on the island, or when I would get ready for competitions with the locals.)
  21. Diamond Head - Lightning to the Nations Louis Armstrong - Hello, Louis!
  22. Other than the fact that Metallica covered “Am I Evil?”, I didn’t notice any riffs being stolen by Metallica. However, I am starting to notice a similar sound between the New Wave of British Heavy Metal stuff and thrash metal.
  23. Thanks for the album recommendations. The Diamond Head album was pretty good, but I haven’t listened to the Tank album yet. I might check it out in the next few days.
  24. Municipal Waste - Waste Em’ All Metallica - Kill Em’ All Angel Witch - Angel Witch
  25. I checked out the Angel Witch album, and I liked it alright. I’ll listen to it again at some point. Since the New Wave of British Heavy Metal was from the late 70s to the early 80s, how are Judas Priest and Motörhead not a part of that movement?
