I haven’t gotten around to listening to the other bebop albums yet, but Blues & Roots is a great album. It’s something how Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting sounded so wild and upbeat. I guess everyone at the meeting got off track and started telling funny stories or something.

I have a jazz thread on here called "Does anyone here like jazz music?". I'm not sure if you've seen it already or not. Some of the forum members discuss their favorite artists and albums on it. You might be interested in that.

Dopesmoker by Sleep is probably the longest doom metal track that I’ve heard, which is a little over 1 hour.

A good modern thrash album is "Virus" by Australian thrash act Wartooth. It rocks hard, and you can hear a bit of Slayer and Metallica in the album.
