Shit's still weird for me. Some better, some worse, still weird. One thing that I'm happy about is that I've been hitting the gym again. Even though I'm having to wake up super early to make time for it, it is helping with my mood and my physical well-being a great deal. I'm trying to stay positive, but it's tough sometimes.

More strong selections here, just maybe not quite as strong as the two years before it.

I don't have the others. What they played live off of their newer stuff wasn't great, bit they were untouchable up through Nightfall for me. I couldn't have been more thrilled that the aforementioned live set include Imaginations in its entirety, which was so fucking good.

From what I've heard, Arch's voice has aged quite well, so I'm sure he'll sound just as good on this as he did on the original Awaken the Guardian.

I agree that he was wise to give up drumming, but his clean vocals are far worse than his drumming IMO. I know I'm in the minority, but I can't stand nu-Katatonia.

Why would you even be paying attention to the drums on Dance of December Souls? Jonas struggles, but it's not as though they're overtly awful in a way that can draw your attention from the absolutely enchanting melodies and pained vocals. That album is a masterpiece, easily my favorite from Katatonia, and tied with Forest of Equilibrium as my favorite doom metal album in general.

Get on that sooner rather than later, Sabbat (JPN) is incredible! Their fifth album The Dwelling: Melody of Deathmask is one of my favorite black metal albums. One song, one hour, one brilliant experience.
