NWOBHM album circa 1984.  Competent if meat n potatoes...one Metal Archives describes them as link between Dokken and Demon and I would agree with that.

This one is obviously iconic, but not the best. But still, the talent...

This one gets me every damn time. It's just incredible.

This is the Mars Volta's debut album in 2003. This is a pretty solid album all the way through. Inertactic Esp is insane, and Roulette Dares is one of my all time favourite songs. Drunkenship of Lanterns also vibes. But, it's so chaotic, it's sometimes a bit hard to listen to. Of course, that's their style, but it's a bit insane. Props for the cool packaging, though! 
Also, the deep theme of the concept album is pretty cool as well. It's about their friend and past band member who committed suicide.

That's an amazing-looking house. It reminds me a little bit of my parents' place in North Carolina. They found an old house in a rural area that needed quite a bit of work, which thankfully my dad has been able to do. They just finished installing a very nice new woodburning stove that they use for both cooking and heating. Next up will hopefully be my mom's kiln, so she can get back to her ceramics work.
I haven't listened to Tool in years and I don't miss em - really only liked the first 2 albums - but now that I've said that, I've probably jinxed myself into listening to them again.

Megadeth- Hidden Treasures
So many good songs.  "99 Ways To Die" is easily one of my favourite Megadeth songs.

Man to be honest it was more that I felt he deserved a mention in the "Metal Legends" section than anything else.  But I guess in a sense he's not really dead, you just have to press play and listen.

So much Lemmy excitement. I feel compelled to speak up, not just about this thread, but about the whole 'Lemmy' phenomenon. 
Sorry if this is rude (and it definitely is and I don't mean it personally), but none of you miss Lemmy because I doubt you knew him, and there are a billion videos, albums and a few books available to experience the great man. In 2017 you can't take a few steps without tripping over the guy, even two years after his death. 
The only thing that has changed is that you won't be able to see him play live again or hear new music. There's definitely a sadness attached to that, considering he was a stalwart of rock n roll. But surely none of you actually miss him in the regular sense of the expression. 
Lemmy was awesome, obviously. But let's keep it Lemmy style and not overdo it.  
 

I have a hard time picturing our beloved Marky Mark in a heavy metal getup with a leather jacket and pair of Doc Martens.
I never saw being a metalhead as a lifestyle. To me it just always meant I was passionate about heavy metal music in a world where so many people don't seem to care all that much about music, they just listen to whatever's on the radio. And apparently there even some people who claim they don't listen to music at all.
Yeah, I had the long hair and leather jacket back in the 80's & 90's and I even wore the bullet belt and occasionally a spiked leather wristband to shows, but that's not what made me a metalhead. It was the fact that I loved metal so much and that so much of my free time was devoted to thinking about and listening to metal and going to see it played live whenever I could.
And yeah nowadays it seems the D&D nerd militia have taken over certain factions of the metal world, but that really wasn't the case 40 years ago. But I think it's pretty easy to see at shows that metalheads come in all shapes and sizes, all ages, and from all walks of life. There is really no such thing as the quintessential metalhead anymore. Like the dude above me said, now that your average metalheads have gotten a bit older and many are balding or whatever and have regular adult jobs there are probably a lot more of us who just look like typical citizens and don't feel the need to look the central casting metalhead part.
The only common theme I've noticed about metalheads on forums over the years is that most of us (not all sadly) seem to be of above average intelligence. But who knows, maybe there could be heaps of other metalhead dummies out there who are just too stupid to type and use a forum. Or maybe they simply aren't interested in having any interaction with fellow metal fans unless that means throwing 'bows in the pit. I do listen to some rough sounding stuff and I've made jokes about knuckledragging music but I'm no meathead dimwit knuckledragger, I'm just a regular old guy. 
Now that I think about it the black band t-shirts do seem to be a common theme as well, and sometimes I feel like I'm the only metalhead in town who doesn't feel the need to wear one of them every single fucking day at all times. I actually wear them more frequently in the winter for layering purposes, but as the bottom layer of 3 or 4 or 5 total you can never see them. Which defeats the purpose obviously, but they're usually on the thick side and so too hot to wear in the summer, and they're not warm enough to wear in the winter where I live without something over them or under them. And in between on those 27 days a year when it's not too hot and not too cold I do wear them sometimes, but some days I just want to wear regular clothes.

Metal is just so much more diverse now. There's a much bigger nerd culture that gets into metal these days. But then again, metal always appealed to the outsider/outcast.

I got into metal when I was around 10 years old, 1990-ish. I think it was the sound and drama and energy that drew me in. I needed the aggression of it when I was a teenager. That's when I got into the more "extreme" stuff - death metal, thrash, black metal - and it helped me process and express all that teen angst. Still helps with that sometimes. I've been an avid listener ever since, it's not all I listen to but it's always there for me. It's also a big part of my creative life, both as a musician and a visual artist. The look of metal art was part of what made me want to study painting and do illustrations. I suppose it's woven so tightly into most aspects of my life that I have no idea who I'd be without it.

I agree, it depends on the content and atmosphere of the song and what it means to you. Nice connection

For whether on not I find spirituality through music, it depends on what the song is about. For example, Metallica's "Holier Than Thou" reminds me that I shouldn't judge people, because I also have flaws. I find spirituality in this song, because it represents a Bible verse: "Judge not, lest ye be judged." 

For some, this is Tool's magnum opus. For me, it's most progressive album, but as you probably know, AEnima is my favourite album of all time. However, this album is phenomenal, a masterpiece of perfect production and magnificent songwriting. 
The Grudge is one of my favourite Tool songs. It's an amazing opener. The Patient is a very personal song for Maynard, and is an altogether great track. Schism is obviously their biggest hit, but it's also one of the most progressive tracks on the album, and one of the best. Parabol and Parabola make a perfect duo, and Parabola means a lot to me, because my dad used to sing it as a lullaby to me. Ticks and Leeches is wholly underrated. It's truly amazing. I have nothing else to say about it. Lateralus is my personal favourite of the album. The huge chorus, amazing solo, and just all around epicness really hits hard. Reflection is also super underrated. It's absolutely great. And Triad is an perfect instrumental, albeit the 2 minutes of silence at the end lol.
In conclusion, this albums is absolutely stunning. It takes TONS of listens to appreciate fully, but you won't mind listening to it for hours on end because it's SO DAMN GOOD!
