  1. Well if it's any consolation to you chaps, I had to drive 3.5 hours one way for this one and will have to pull an all nighter tomorrow to get a little work in. Worth it. We don't get many shows where I live, so New Orleans is the closest that regularly gets decent stuff. Lineup has changed a few times up until showtime, but so far it's Cickada (local sludgy grind ore which was badass), Congealed Snotrocket or some modern DM shit, Mehenet - local indigenous inspired bm, Imperial Triumphant, Mortiferum. Tiny little dive bar in midtown with amazing fucking cheeseburgers. 10 out of 10, would do it again.
  2. Well tonight's gig just got better. Mortiferum was added due to a venue change. Also Mehenet. Gotta love last minute changes.
  3. So far, Sounding is chaotic noise-core stuff. I guess I can tolerate it for 45 minutes. Golgothan isn't bad. Nothing I'd go to see on their own, but an opener I can sit through. Golgothan - Leech (2022) Funny, I was just thinking about those exact 2 bands before I saw your comment. I like some of Cattle Decap's stuff, and their decent live.
  4. Going to see the first metal show of 22 tonight. Not sure I'm ecstatic about the lineup, but it's a fucking show. I'm only familiar with the first band. I'll be checking all 3 out today, so if you have specific recs, send 'em. Imperial Triumphant Sounding Golgothan
  5. Yeah, just hoping they can figure out what's going on and get me straightened out. There is something funky with my GI tract, most likely delayed gastric emptying which I've had problems with before. Could explain why I don't get hungry. I have that study coming up shortly and a follow up with the doc in April. There are meds that can help if it is the problem. I just hate taking meds. Don't want to be one of those old guys that has to take a handful of pills every day you know.
  6. That svrm is pretty good. Dude is consistent.
  7. That's cruel and unusual. An EGD as we call it is pretty miserable. When I used to do sedation for those procedures, I was always a little heavy handed on the "forgetful juice". It was always the one procedure I never wanted to have myself. For my procedure yesterday (which was all clear btw), I had propofol (aka Milk of Amnesia, the shit that killed Michael Jackson). It's pretty great stuff. Just lights out until it's all over. I had heard over the years that there were places in Europe that didn't use any sort of sedation for gastroscopy or colonoscopies. I can't understand why. Sedation is safe and effective when provided in a monitored environment and makes the whole thing much less unpleasant.
  8. Sólstafir - Berdreyminn - had this since it came out and honestly don't think I've listened to it all the way through
  9. Circle of Ouroborus - Abrahadabra Circle of Ouroborus - Unituli
  10. It's actually a lot of fun. You had better be prepared though if you're going to try and catch everything you want to see. I will not try. I tried the first time I went several years ago. I had a good time, but my feet, legs, and lower back took a major beating. As Surge mentioned, you learn to compromise early. Whether that's conflicting set times or conserving your body to make it all the way through. Especially with the venues being rather a good distance away from each other this year, it's all about the planning. Definitely not unique to MDF though. Any 3+ day fest with 12 hour days is going to get tough as it goes along. Pacing and planning.
  11. This man MDF's. It usually takes me half a bottle of ibuprofen to get through the weekend and even then I generally don't want to stand up for a week after. Bring 2 pairs of shoes so you can alternate. Most of us aren't used to standing for 4 days straight 12 hours a day. It takes me longer to recover from MDF than it ever did from any of the marathons I ran. Doing the 5 day this year with the preshow, so I expect to be fully crippled for most of June.
  12. Think so. I lost about 25# in a few months. Lots of nausea and bloating. Most likely due to delayed gastric emptying and stress. Went to the doc and he recommended a scope just to be sure. Not really worried and I'm close enough to 50 that I might as well get it out of the way.
  13. Drinking a gallon of colon prep for a scope tomorrow. Rather it was bourbon. This stuff is pretty shitty.
  14. Diaboli - Awakening of Nordic Storm
  15. Immolation - Acts of God Cult of Fire - Live in the Underworld
  16. Yeah, insta purchase for me today as well. Also picked up the latest Cult of Fire live release.
  17. Fuck yeah! One of my favorite bands. Going to see them in April too! New Archgoat EP coming March 3rd - the natural continuation of the "Angelcunt" EP (1993).
  18. Archgoat - Worship the Eternal Darkness
  19. Arcaneblaze - Conjure Mysticism and Goblet of Eternal Fire MALIGNANT ALTAR - Realms of Exquisite Morbidity
  20. Yeah fuck those guys. They all suck 🥸
  21. Metal was fun when it didn't take itself too seriously. The second 2 have moments. The Beast is my all time favorite TS song, and We're not Gonna Take It has started more heavy metal journeys than we'll probably ever comprehend. A lot of it got way overplayed and hasn't held up well, but man it was good fun way back when. NP: Starer - 18° Below the Horizon
  22. The first album is a stone cold classic. 2nd and 3rd are enjoyable and a must for any collection IMO even if they have their weak spots. NINKHARSAG - The Dread March of Solemn Gods - this rips Barshasketh - Barshasketh Pakkt - To Brocken Heights
