  1. I've always preferred Bush over Belladonna. Anthrax's songwriting has always been hit or miss at best, but I don't think they could have really taken advantage of Bush. Sound of White Noise and Stomp 442 have good songs and a bunch of filler. What they have always needed was a decent songwriter. I'll take Testament or Exodus over Anthrax all day and twice on Tuesday.
  2. Yeah, definitely my favorite as well. I did enjoy Death Magnetic the few times I've listened to it. Hell I may even own it, not sure. Hardwired had a few songs, but there's no denying old school/ classic Metallica died with AJFA and it ain't coming back.
  3. Metallica - AJFA Butthole Surfers - Independent Worm Saloon The Cult - Sonic Temple
  4. Was just spinning this earlier today. Not too bad.
  5. Prison Hell (Canada) - The Dark Science
  6. Μνήμα (Greece) - Disciples of Excremental Liturgies Altar of Gore (US) - Infinite Visions of Violence Demo Ritus de Cruor (Finland) - Die Melancholie der Zauberer EP Paimon Gate (US) - Seven Legions Demo Grizelda (US) - Grizelda
  7. I should have bought the other stuff, but at $50-75 each with shipping, I had to pick one. Maybe the reissues will make it to Hells Headbangers or other stateside distro where shipping isn't $35.
  8. My wife does Botox regularly. I tell her not to because a) she's gorgeous and b) I don't care about wrinkles. But it makes her happy and she doesn't complain about my music and expensive hobbies, so I don't push it. Drew the line when she did a lip filler thing however which was fortunately temporary. I can live with tattoos and even piercings, but fillers and whatnot go a bit too far. Botox is used successfully for a number of conditions medically. Migraines being the top reason and it gives good results. Also used for things like overactive bladder, neck spasms, palsies, and even cross eyes. Never heard of it being used in a dental capacity though.
  9. Arrived home to find my reissued gatefold copy of Dawn - Slaughtersun from Cosmic Key on my doorstep. A good day.
  10. Rush R40 sweatshirt and Counterparts hat.
  11. I didn't know that about Weyerbacher. Don't see them much down here. Just happen to run across it a few years ago. Can't say I've had anything else from them. We do get Oskar Blue. I like Old Chubb and the Ten Fiddy stout. I see Highland Ales Gaelic Ale quite a bit and I like it too. Cigar City is widely available, but I've not seen Big Sound. I usually get their Tocaboga (red ale) or Marshal Zukhov (Russian Imperial). I do see Bell's once in a while but it's usually Two Hearted which is meh. Abita is another fairly local brand (New Orleans) but I've not really had anything from there I like. For my money, the best Florida brewery is Oyster City. All of their beers are fantastic, but Hooter Brown (honey brown ale) is phenomenal. Their Mangrove (Mango IPA) is my favorite IPA ever. Not sure they are widely distributed yet, but if you see anything from them you won't be disappointed. The had a peanut butter porter last time we were at the Tap Room that my wife won't stop obsessing over. Regularly asks me to drive 3.5 hours one-way to get her a growler or 2. Fortunately, they're opening a new location only an hour away. Real Ales out of Texas has a phenomenal Wee Heavy and Russian Imperial too, but I've only ever been able to get those in Texas. Have a couple of bombers in the beer cellar as we speak right next to the barrel aged Worldwide Stout doing their time.
  12. I'm with you. Not sure how I feel about them. I like what SH are trying to do, but I like In Passing Ascension much better. GM are not a band I listen to that much. It's decent, but I don't see much to set it apart from the myriad of other releases in the same style. My buddy had both high up on his EOTY list, so I figured I should go back and revisit them to see if I was missing something. Neither would have made my list. For perspective, the rest of his list consisted of Portal, Nekromantheon (which is good), Mortiferium, Antediluvian, Oxygen Destroyer, Obscura, Evil, and a few others that we did overlap on like Archgoat, Worm, Cerebral Rot, Witch Vomit, and Malignant Altar. Our tastes are similar enough but different enough to keep our conversations interesting. He certainly exposes me to shit I would never investigate on my own. NP: Ghastly - Mercurial Passages
  13. Yeah it's a Scotch ale a.k.a. Wee Heavy. Wish I could find it again. By the way, that's exactly how I picture you up in the NJ woods 😆 I really liked the Weyerbacher 22nd anniversary Scotch ale. It was a limited run of course. Had a few pints on tap but never found it in stores. I always go for a Scotch ale when I can find them, which isn't often around here. I haven't had Skullsplitter or Curmudgeon in quite a while. I have to say that I do like a IPA now and then, but fuck it's all they sell around here anymore.
  14. Kælan Mikla - Undir Köldum Norðurljósum Concrete Winds - Nerve Butcherer Grave Miasma - Abyss of Wrathful Deities Spectral Wound - A Diabolic Thirst Suffering Hour - The Cyclic Reckoning
  15. The best barrel aged I've had was Backwoods Bastard (Founders - Wee Heavy). I think it was a seasonal or short run offering. CBS is good, but a little too sweet for my tastes. I tend to lean more towards the Russian Imperials over the English or breakfast/oatmeal/milk stouts.
  16. I remember liking that quite a bit too, but haven't listened to it in well over a year. Legend - Fröm the Fjörds
  17. Wicked Lady - The Axeman Cometh
  18. Not sure why I bought this album, not sure I even like it. It's ok at best. Haven't listened to it in a while and remember being somewhat enamored with it at first, but no idea why. FAUSTIAN PACT - Outojen Tornien Varjoissa
  19. Eh, it could be worse. A little feeling is a fair tradeoff for staying alive. 9 years as of Tuesday. Just try to remind myself of how lucky I am to be here and still able to move at all. Couldn't walk or stand when I first got out of the hospital, so being able to do anything past that is fortunate. Nerve damage is just the worst. There really isn't a decent way to treat it or keep it under control. Not to mention that it's impossible to explain to anyone who isn't experiencing it. There's good days and bad days, but like someone said earlier, you just accept it and learn to deal. The brain fog from all of the chemo is probably more frustrating. 28 days out of 30 I feel like I'm working with an out of focus camera lens. Seems to affect my ability to communicate the most. The meds I take to keep the neuropathy tolerable don't help. I'm really not as stupid as I think I come across most days, but being able to put together coherent thoughts is challenging at times. Lately, I think I'm having another lovely sequelae to treatment. Lost 30# (that I can't really afford to lose) in a rather short time unintentionally. Just can't eat much without getting nauseous. Scans were all good except some thickening in the large intestine. Probably some form of irritable bowel. I've no doubt it's related to the chemo. Side effects from that stuff can take years to present. Having a scope in a month or so to investigate. So in short, fuck cancer. Fuck it with a rusty spiked bat.
  20. Mills River, NC. The Scotch Ale is my favorite of theirs. Highland which is right close has an excellent Wee Heavy as well.
  21. I'll give that a whirl. Better than doing nothing.
  22. Fun fact, Oskar Blue is in a dry county. Just south of my buddy's house. Never understood the dry county thing. If you don't want to drink beer, just don't. Quit fucking around with other people's ability to do so.
  23. Big ass tumor on the right lumbar nerve at L5. Left me very little movement in the musculature of my right leg from the calf, ankle, and top of my foot. Chemo got the fucker, but once the damage is done to the nerve, it doesn't heal. Now it's just a lump of non-conductive scar tissue. Had a similar smaller tumor on the left, one in the right brachial nerve (that hurt like a mother fucker), and 4 tiny ones in the brain stem. Left leg is mostly numb, but didn't have as significant damage. Others left no damage at all. Funny how that works. Sounds like she had some nerve damage too which is understandable considering the radiation. That's just burning the cancer from the inside and quite usually leaves scar tissue and loss of function/sensation. I say numb, but that's not exactly true. I can still feel pain and my feet are hyper sensitive. Can't stand for anyone to touch my feet. Takes a lot of effort to wear socks and shoes. If it weren't for the regular doses of GABA analogues (similar effect as alcohol), I probably couldn't not could walk. Neuropathy is a bitch.
