Prisons are filled with people who have impulse control issues. To deny or repress our impulses is a losing game for most of us. But learning restraint and control over our impulses from an early age will serve one well. This is one of the things that separates us from other animals. Along with thumbs.

Interesting thesis. As I consult my LastFM scrobbles which I've set to my son's birthday: Jan 27th 2014 til the present day, I see The Beatles rank as my 8th most played artist, Black Sabbath is #22 and Type O are #31 out of 3,607 total artists scrobbled. This only counts songs I've played on my desktop player while sitting at the computer, not in the car or from my phone or DAP through iem's or Youtube videos or anything else. I might have guessed the numbers for those 3 artists would be flipped around with Type O on top and the Beatles on the bottom because I feel like I listen to Type O more, but it is what it is, the numbers don't lie.
Still all 3 of these bands have made their way into the top 1% of bands I've listened to the most, so it's safe to say my infatuation with Type O runs deeper than just a passing fancy. They're from Brooklyn, they're around my age (at least Pete and Josh were, Kenny and John are a year or two younger than you) they grew up listening to the same bands I did, they have metal and hardcore roots, they have a dark and savage NY sense of humor, I've watched tons of old interview footage and stuff and I feel like I know these guys. So it'd be all but impossible to imagine not having had them and their music in my life for the last 30 years and try to guess how I'd react to their music if I was hearing it fresh for the first time here and now in my elderliness.
Bloody Kisses was my first brush with Type O, I remember buying the cassette the same day I bought Sacred Reich's Independent. I wasn't in love with them right from day one, I was more intrigued than anything else, they are certainly a unique band. It took me a bit of warming up to really appreciate what they were all about musically, but it didn't take me that long to see there was a lot more going on there with them beyond just the vampire schtick. I still hear little things on those albums that I've never noticed before even now.
I can totally see how you might think they wouldn't be my thing, they're not extreme metal and they are a lot more polished and lush and pretty than most of what I listen to. I would not call them commercial though, maybe a song or two here and there but not for the most part. (give them the wife test and see what she says about them) But surely you understand by now that the evil goat metal filth and the caustic satanic black metal and the crushing cavernous death metal are just a few of the many facets of my musical interests. I suppose it's true that raw goat filth is the kind of music I get most excited about these days, and extreme metal does take up the bulk of my listening time, but I can still listen to and appreciate other stuff as well.

Oh yeah. That's a good album. I have it somewhere in the collection. Need to dig it out and give it some time. Been a few. The thing I like about it aside from the music/vibe which has a blend of all my favorite post-punk characteristics, is that the vocals sound great. Dude sounds normal. PP bands tend to get some really annoying singers. Can definitely ruin a perfectly good record. Thanks for reminding me of this one!
Some nice choices on your playlist today.
I'm going to call it now. This will be on my EOTY list. Took seemingly forever to get a new one from them, and it was so worth the wait.
Today, I just put the server on random. This winter's project is to rebuild the thing. Do some major cleaning. Too much garbage clogging it up. A few surprises I forgot I even owned and some faves. A few I remember:
    Boston - Boston
    Judas Priest - Priest Live
    Tool - Lateralus
    Uriah Heep - Sweet Freedom
    Killing Joke - 2003 s/t
Vestal Claret - The Cult of Vestal Claret
Cult of Fire - Ascetic Meditation of Death

The Sound - From The Lion's Mouth ...@navybsn, you get into this? I somehow missed this band completely when I was getting into the whole post-punk/goth/darkwave thing, and only heard them a couple years ago. This album was pretty much an instant favorite.

Am very busy with work recently and usually I try to listen Bandcamp releases in the meantime to help focusing when I can. This release is on quite a few times now and really appreciate it. Even the I guess you'd call it atmospheric parts on it.

GoatmasterGeneral gave a Damn to Serpentboi1992 in METALLICA vs megadeth
like i said in the post about the big 4, i acknowledge that megadeth has more talent. but, i prefer metallica because i think they structured their songs alot better. i am just talking about '80s to early '90s metallica, because i don't care for the stuff that followed black album. anyways, metallica's riff to solo ratio is better than megadeth's in my opinion. a lot of megadeth songs in my opinion have too many solos and the solos are too long as well. a lot of megadeth tunes feel like a dave mustaine ego trip

Can't they just put bits of her in a few reliquaries so they can have separate queues? An outpouring of grief on this scale demands logistical efficiency!

Oh yeah, there are a lot of really funny people in the world, they're just not all great at stand up comedy. I don't dislike Steve Martin in general, I've enjoyed many of his movies, I was just talking specifically about his 70's stand up routine that didn't really appeal to me that much. But then I was just a teenager in the 70's. Robin Williams is another one, a very funny and talented individual but I wouldn't rank him as one of the best stand ups ever (not that he was bad just not one of the best ever) because stand up comedy is a very specific art form or skill set and I'm picky about my stand up. There's lots of very funny people who I think are just better suited for various other mediums for their humor besides stand up. Seinfeld's another one, I loved his tv show but he's not one of my favorite stand ups. Jim Carey's great at sketch comedy and in movies and stuff but I don't think he'd be the greatest stand up. Chappelle's a great stand up but his sketch show was 10 times funnier. I watched a couple of this Jeselnik dudes routines on YT earlier and he's quite good. I love dark humor so I'll have to dig deeper this weekend when I have more time.

Yeah Steve Martin was big when I was in school, he had that whole wild and crazy guy schtick, I was not personally a fan. It was weird at first seeing him acting in movies because we just knew him as a stand up.
In Bill Hicks defense, he died at 32 so I think it's safe to say he might have written some more A-grade material if he'd lived a bit longer. I watched the '92 special last night and on top of it being funny, his delivery was brilliant.
I think a comic's delivery and presentation goes a long way for me, I'm always gonna prefer a guy who acts out the jokes and uses funny voices & facial expressions n shit over a guy like Gervais who is smart and funny but he just stands there and tells his jokes.
Shit forgot about Brian Regan, yeah he's great too.
I've never heard of Anthony Jeselnik, I need to dial up some of his stuff.
