  1. I can see the resemblance to Mondrian, but yours has less of a grid-like pattern than many of his abstract works. Malevich did many paintings with just simple, single-colored shapes, either alone or in a composition with others. But that all being said, your work is totally your own!
  2. I really like this sharp-edge abstraction. Reminds me of Malevich!
  3. Is this still a painting? It looks almost like a collage.
  4. I realized that I have not posted anything on this thread recently. Here is some stuff that I have gotten in the last month: From left to right starting with the top row: -The Cherry Point: Black Witchery -Slogun/Sickness split -Testical Hazard: Everything Has Its Price -Government Alpha: Venomous Cumulus Cloud -BT. HN.: Her Serpent -Richard Ramirez/Skin Crime: Pleasure, Commerce & Death -Roman Torment: Skin Game -Zbigniew Karkowski/Torturing Nurse/Dickson Dee: Penetration -Knurl: Scyamine -amk: Super Panoramic Stereo Sound 5000 -Black Sand Desert: Choking on Grave Soil -Gate to Gate: I Turn Black Keys Golden Rain - "2010"
  5. I have played guitar for about 14 years (but am not very good), and recently began doing noise.
  6. Welcome! Do you play any music yourself?
  7. I don't think it begins with an 'a.' I don't speak the language that it is written in, but it looks like a capital lambda in Greek (i.e. and 'l'), My guess is that the language took some of the letters from Greek a long time ago. Either way, it is the same on my version.
  8. Autumn Aurora is one of my favorite black metal albums - and certainly one of the best ambient black metal albums of all time. I don't care for their newer albums as much, but pretty much everything they have put out has been great.
  9. Paysage d'Hiver, Mirkvid, Reek of the Unzen Gas Fumes, and Drudkh all come to mind for me. None of them play the particular blend you want to, but each contains elements that I suspect you would find helpful.
  10. I really like this one!
  11. While I was never a big fan of Satyricon, I can see where this is coming from. Their early bm was great, but the turn to black 'n roll - not so much.
  12. I doubt they can be made right either - though some still try to say they were!

    Books?

Currently reading: Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami for the second time. Not as great as the first read-through, but I am not sure why yet. Being and Time by Martin Heidegger Interesting philosophy text that I have been wanting to read for a while. Leucippe and Clitophon by Achilles Tatius An ancient novel. Interesting love story with some random elements that only a 2,000 year old book could have.
  14. Here is a band that I have been wanting to share here for a while: Mirkvid The Burning Night: Unser Reich: This is definitely one of the most obscure bands that I have come across, but I cannot recommend it enough. Mirkvid is fast-paced, industrial black metal with excellent vocals. It is also one of the few black metal bands that I have come across that could ever be described as "danceable."
  15. I like a variety of bm substyles, power electronics, and noise. Drudkh and Mgła are two of my favorite bands. If you like music with a heavy beat, then I recommend you check out Reek of the Unzen Gas Fumes and Mirkvid!
  16. Have Drudkh ever released any of their own lyrics? It was my understanding that they only revealed lyrics when they were using poems composed by others.
  17. You will probably learn more from that! Though, to be fair, I have not seen the movie.
  18. Honestly, everything up through Hliðskjálf is masterful (including the demos). Burzum goes downhill a bit after that. Filosofem is probably his best work (some might disagree, but this is my opinion), so that is a must-listen!
  19. I am always really shocked when I see people hating this album. It is really great!
  20. Greetings. What bands/genres do you listen to?
  21. I just submitted my survey. Please share your results here when your project is finished!
  22. The movie looked to be pretty close to simple exploitation of a story for the sake of being shocking. I am pretty sure that Mayhem authorized it, but Burzum definitely did not!
  23. Welcome! What subject are you pursuing a PhD in?
  24. You are definitely working your way through Marx quickly! I am starting to really value commentary/companion texts myself. It turns out that I will be pursuing a Master's first, as the PhD waitlist never opened up, but that is all right. There is a decent school nearby, and I will reapply once that has been completed. As for research topics, I am not too sure yet. I would really like to engage with Nietzsche more (especially Thus Spoke Zarathustra), and I thought about comparing his ideas with pragmatic ideas about truth and knowledge. Before I get to sure, though, there I would really like to get more aquainted with other thinkers like Deleuze, Heidegger, and Hegel. What are you doing your PhD research/thesis on?
