  1. Blasphemathory - War, Blasphemy & Divine Destruction Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal Sentient Divide - Haunted By Cruelty

  2. Cryptae - Capsule, 2022 "hallucinatory new album from Dutch experimental raw death metal absurdity Cryptae... their most aberrant, delirious and labyrinthine (master)piece of anti-music yet." They're not really that terribly absurd, definitely in line with most of the Sentient Ruin roster. Doc might dig, Doc might not. Got this rec from Afterbirth Cody who has more eclectic tastes than I do. But I like it. Cabinet - Hydrolysated Ordination, listened last night, now again this morning, new Cabinet is siiiiick. You can keep your Judus Preest, I'll stick with this as my top album for March.

  5. I was wondering when metal bands would catch onto the most horrifying creature ever devised. NP: Unholy Archangel - Obsessed By War Obsessed by War | Unholy Archangel (bandcamp.com) Lotta fuzz in the guitar here, but the good kind of fuzz. To paraphrase anybody that owns an alpaca ranch 'just because it's fuzzy doesn't mean it's nice'. I like it.

  12. We are on the precipice... The mighty Judas Priest will release album #19 in just a few hours! My goodness, I cannot stand the anticipation. "Invincible Shield" is gonna be a fantastic release (Judas Priest makes nothing else besides metal magic)! At the gym in the early morning and to and from work tomorrow, this thing will be blasting at full volume - and what a beast it will be! Heading to bed early so Christmas morning will come all the sooner.

  14. Nothing anyone says about a band you happen to like or the albums they release should affect how you feel about them. If someone proclaims the new album to be a dud that means that's how they're perceiving it, that's their reality, but that shouldn't have any bearing on whatever your opinion of it might be. I could proclaim the new Priest endeavor to be a steaming pile of shit, and you could refute that and say you think it's the greatest goddamned thing they've ever done, and both of those conflicting opinions could be 100% true at the same time. It's all subjective Vic. One man's pleasure is another man's pain. I don't know you in real life Orca, you seem like a decent enough dude for a farmer, I'm sure we'd probably get on just fine if we ever crossed paths irl. But you should know that on the forum at least you do come across as someone who gets easily butt hurt over what people on the internet say about music and bands you happen to like. As much as you insist that you don't care, it's pretty clear that on some level you do. Now me I just laugh when people trash the filthy blackened lo-fi shit that I love, why would I possibly care what anyone else thinks of the music I enjoy by myself in private? Especially when these assholes offering their unsolicited opinions are complete strangers on the internet. Are they gonna come here and listen to it for me? I'm so used to getting negative feedback on my filthy shit that it honestly doesn't even phase me anymore like it used to 40 - 50 years ago. I've learned to generally expect people to hate on my shit as the default, and then I'm often taken by surprise when someone says they actually dig my shit too. But when they say it's shit, I know that doesn't make it true for anyone but them. Funny, I haven't run into any of these people who won't allow themselves to like any band that's been around for more than a decade. Can you give us any names? NP: Zeke - Pinstriping the Dutchman's Coffin, Seattle 1999 Zeke - Flat Tracker, 1996 REO Speedealer – REO Speedealer, Lubbock Texas 1998 Well they're black/death, not some pseudo blackened pretty post-metal or any of that progressive avant-garde nonsense. So you're in my wheelhouse here Doc, because cavernous black/death is my shit. We have other stuff that we agree on as well, but most of it's generally a bit more to the extreme side so I reckon that's like you crossing over to visit me in my domain, not me 'slumming it' to spend a little time in yours. But you're welcome to visit my cave any time Docarooni, door's always open for your refined ozzy ass.

  16. Judas who?? Not everyone lives in the past Orca. Some of us simply prefer to remember these old legacy bands from 40 or 50 years ago as they were in their prime. We figure there's a 95% chance that hearing the new shit can only lead to disappointment. And even if it turns out to be reasonably decent or even pretty good, who really still fucking cares? You know it's not going to actually rival their classic material that we all know and love. With a band like Preest who are 40 years out from their hey-day, that means there have been 40 years of developments in the metal world since then, and many of us have simply moved on from that traditional 80's style heavy metal. There have also been 40 years of new young music fans born in the two generations since then who don't have any nostalgic connection to those old dinosaur bands from yesteryear that maybe their parents listened to. There will always be exceptions like our Carolina man JT, but I'm sure most younger people under 40 must look at those old 80's dinosaur heavy metal bands in much the same way I looked at most of the old crap from the 40's and 50's my parents listened to when I was a kid in the 60's and 70's. I couldn't possibly imagine my 33 year old daughter listening to any of the stuff I was listening to 40 years ago. Her idea of "oldies" is probably stuff from the early 2000's. NP: Judas Preest - Hellbent for Fucking Leather, still delivering the goods after 46 years. I've no need for a new delivery. No idea who Arsis are dude.

  23. You're a crazy bastard JT. I don't know why anyone would listen to these beyond a few weeks after the release cycle, but I salute you. I am going nuts this week and combing through my bc wishlist...even buying stuff NOT on bandcamp Friday. What am I like? New Managed Decline by Underdark I think it's the logo that I liked and prompted me to listen again. And, hell's teeth, I am really enjoying this. It reminds me a bit of Deafheaven in parts because there is some indie type vibe to bits of it. New Float Along - Fill Your Lungs by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Not metal like the PetroDragonic Apocalypse one, but still cool.
