  1. Deftones - Diamond Eyes Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  2. You should give Pleiades' Dust another chance, it's fucking incredible. Yeah I really should. It's entirely possible I just wasn't in the right mood to appreciate it at the time. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  3. I quite enjoyed Coloured Sands honestly. It's very very different from Obscura but there are some nice riffs there. Although the production is weird, I've always felt something off about it. The EP they put out a year or so ago never grabbed me though. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  4. Well, there's always Xasthur. Wolves in the Throne Room, while divisive, fit the bill as well. If you're feeling open minded, you could check out Revelations of the Black Flame by 1349. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  5. Triptykon - Goetia Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  6. Trying to decide whether or not I want to sell off my Iceman or not. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  7. Any love for them here? They were kind of a gateway band to grind for me. Longhena, their final album, is fantastic (although it could be argued it's a much melodic death metal as it is grindcore). Awesome atmosphere.
  8. I always hated the title Feel the Misery especially. Feels so phoned in. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  9. Interesting. It was my first MDB album to be fair, but I remember The Cry of Mankind really sticking with me and leaving an impact. It kind of reminded me of Brave from Katatonia though (the single note melodies), who I was much more familiar with at the time, and that may have been why I was drawn to it. 10. Is it just the vocals you don't care for on Angel and the Dark River? I don't really like them but I still dig the music. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  11. Haha, what I meant was musically most viking metal seems to fit into either black or melodic death metal, with the lyrics being the main distinguishing factor.
  12. I'm doing pretty well man. Life has definitely taken a lot of turns I would not have expected in the last couple of years, most good, some really bad, but all in all everything is good now. How about yourself?
  13. It does seem a little less active than it used to. But them maybe if people would quit leaving it wouldn't be like that.
  14. Sometimes I'm uncertain whether Viking Metal really exists either. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
  15. Hey man. Hope things are getting better.
  16. I understand. I wasn't trying to be argumentative or anything. And for what it's worth I like Chaosphere. Nowadays anyway, I used to dislike it. Regarding your other post, I'm totally with you on the newest Gorguts and Deftones. Although I am gaining an appreciation for Obscura. It's funny though, Jane Doe is still the only Converge record I got in to.
  17. I want to come up with something very memorable. One or two words max... I'm so bad at naming things though.
  18. Does it get shit on? Other than by FatherAlabaster? It certainly has good reviews over at the Metal Archives, and personally I really dig the production. I also like Catch 33 though. So obviously my taste and his are different. I will defer to him as the more experienced Meshuggah fan here though as honestly it's only recently I've developed a taste for them.
  19. So I just was looking at some old threads, especially the overrated albums thread, and my god.. what was wrong with my taste back then? Ugh! I'm cringing looking at some of the stuff I said. And almost every single album I said was overrated, I regard as a fucking classic now. Except Slaughter of the Soul. I've gone back and forth on that record, and I pretty solidly arrived at it being not that awesome. If I were to assign it a numerical rating (which I generally dislike, but whatever), it would be a 6/10. Not terrible, but certainly their worst record (that's right, I like the new one better).
  20. So Distorted Reality is taken on Wordpress. Which I guess doesn't necessarily mean it can't be the name, but it does mean it can't be our URL, and I would kind of prefer those things are the same/similar. Thoughts?
  21. Hi Karl! What bands do you like? Welcome to the forums.
  22. Wow, I've somehow just discovered how truly terrible Liturgy are.
  23. Actually, this might be controversial - I don't have any time for anything Mayhem has put out post De Mysteriis.
