  1. The most 40k-inspired album that I have ever seen. Love Bolt Thrower.
  2. I think that it is all about interest, really. Some people find bands like Sunn O))) unbearably boring whilst others are transfixed by it. Symphonies are quite long as well. We also often watch tv shows and movies for much longer periods of time. That being said, I imagine that some people could see improvements in the attention spans after spending time listening to long pieces of music.
  3. "La Sanie des siècles - Panégyrique de la dégénérescence" - Peste Noire
  4. Hip hop/r&b are the popular genres right now (at least in the US). There will likely always be people (of any age) interested in underground or extreme music. Thus, it is up to us fans to share and spread the music that we love. That being said, nothing lasts forever - metal included.
  5. That's a nice grouping of bands. Too bad I have work/school.
  6. "Devanation Monumentemples" - Genocide Shrines
  7. That's the one with Sunn O))) and Batushka right? Wish I could go...
  8. It is definitely not dying in the slightest. There is a continual influx of new albums being released around the world (though often of dubious quality) - just check out bandcamp.
  9. "A Living Hell" - Black Circle / Xasthur "Volume Two" - Sleep
  10. Will need to check this out.
  11. I think that metal music can broadly be split between "extreme" and "accessible" (for lack of better words). Today, it feels as though many of the bands on the accessible side of the spectrum have been increasingly deriving influences from other musical genres (rock, pop, shoegaze, etc.) in addition to past metal music. Accessible metal is what is popular because it is easier to listen to without existing background knowledge. I think that the result of this is that that branch of metal music has become increasingly watered down - hence, not as good if you like metal music. It sounds to me, however, that most extreme metal bands derive their music almost exclusively from past metal bands. Therefore their music would have a more distilled metal sound. I guess that back in the 80s/90s there was a stronger interest in pure metal music.
  12. "Extermination Mass" - Death Worship "Verminous Uprising" - Reek of the Unzen Gas Fumes
  13. Bolt Thrower is awesome!
  14. While I have not delved deep into much of their material, I enjoyed their new album quite a bit. It had a perfect blend of drones and rhythm. I really should pick up a copy.
  15. Why? As a runner, I find muggy weather the most uncomfortable of all.
  16. Welcome! What bands are your favorites?
  17. "In the Sign of Evil" - Sodom + some random songs from "M-16" "Chimera" - Mayhem "Pesta Kommer" - Erebos
  18. I liked some of the songs on M16 quite a bit. I think that I will have to go and revisit it. I had always intended to listen to some of their really early material, but never got around to it - another item for my list of things to listen to soon.
  19. I have been intending to look into this band for some time. I will add this to my ever-growing list of stuff to listen to.
  20. I thought Sodom was okay, but never really cared for the vocalist of Kreator. When getting into metal, I passed through extreme thrash pretty quickly. I used to listen to Slayer a lot, though. Once I found black metal, though, I pretty much stopped exploring other genres (about 90% of the music that I seek out for listening is bm at this point).
  21. Destruction was the only European thrash band that I ever really liked - due in no small part to "Bestial Invasion."
  22. Honestly, that is probably true of a lot of bm - especially pseudo-political bands like Drudkh.
