I would say that a lot more people than just the young are "zombified" nowadays. Also a lot of metal today is quite political. On one end of the spectrum you have the right-wing nationalist bands associated with groups like Militant Zone, and on the other you have liberal trolls like Neckbeard Deathcamp.

Cool! I have played the guitar for close to 13 years, and usually listen to black metal bands like Burzum, Paysage d'Hiver, and Drudkh.

I saw some really nice abstract paintings. They were very large, gestural pieces. One place also had a simple Zen painting for sale that I liked quite a bit (too expensive for me though!). Any nice galleries where you live?

I agree with your analysis. Whoever said that metal legends are no longer producing anything is completely wrong, though. Metallica still performs for stadiums, Ihsahn just did a new album, and Youtube and Bandcamp are constantly featuring new releases.

Paysage d'Hiver: Paysage d'Hiver (which translates from French as Winter Landscape) is a one-man ambient black metal band from Switzerland. The sole member, Wintherr, is also well known for his work in the band Darkspace. Rather than portraying the atmosphere of space, however, P d'H explores the ambiance of forests, snow, and mystical landscapes. Songs are long, repetitive, and raw. Synths often take center stage in compositions, where they provide the melody to backing guitars. Many albums contain tracks that are completely ambient, and several albums are entirely ambient. Recommended for fans of Burzum, Xasthur, and Drudkh.

You make an interesting point in bringing up the internet. It makes me wonder as to what extent online communities/platforms have had in keeping metal going.
