Channel A > MXR Distortion III > Boss delay pedal > the right channel on my old Traynor Mark 3 amp, which is cleaner and brighter
Channel B > Emma Transmorgrifier (compression) > the left channel on the Traynor, which has more tube breakup and mid/low end
I also have a tuner pedal running out of the send on the noise gate, so it's not part of the signal path to the amp.
This is less complicated than it might sound. The amp is from the early 70s and has separate inputs for each channel. My main tone was the bass going through the compressor into the dirtier channel; it gets a really nice throaty, boomy sound, and the compressor evens things out a little and does a great job of accentuating pick attack transients. I was pretty happy with this sound, but I kept wanting more grit than the amp itself would give me and I didn't like what happened to clarity and low end when I put any of my distortions directly in that signal path. I'm using the Morley as a splitter so I can blend the distorted sound in and EQ it separately without messing up the main sound, and as a bonus, I can use each channel separately if I want different flavors. The delay is just there for a bit of fun sometimes.

I'm finally putting together a proper pedalboard as my bass rig takes shape. Never bothered with one before since I only used a noise gate and a tuner in front of my guitar amp, but getting the bass tone I want has made me break out pretty much my entire pedal cabinet. I have at least six things to step on in my current setup. Fun.

I’m trying out the Mexican restaurant in my college town. It’s pretty good! That’s what on my mind at the moment, along with my desires to become a better jazz guitarist.

Annual trip to Edinburgh on Friday next week for 5 days of beer, whisky, cat cafes, underground tours of the city, walks to Arthur's seat and the Water of Leith walkway.  Afternoon tea at the Witchery and a one night stay in the Turret there too.  Still love Edinburgh and I am genuinely excited each time I go.

I've crash-landed like a fallen angel in Bordeaux, France, for three weeks. 
Since the insightful move to close the streets to motorised traffic, establishing pedestrian areas and cleaning things up a couple of years ago, the place is achingly magnificent. Medieval streetscapes and glorious 13th-18th century architecture make this one of the best preserved and historical cities that I've ever cursed with my infernal presence. 
I dare not write more, as the evening calls my name in whispers from cathedral crypts, and siren song sweeps across medieval stone... 

Today I climbed a fourteenth century cathedral bell tower in Bordeaux, casting my eye wide across the town for Bordeaux belles.

I just had my first practice with the band I'm joining, and it was a blast.

The lead guitarist and drummer dropped out of one of our local metal bands, my brother and I are in the process of setting up auditions as replacements.

I just went to my first metal show last Friday, and it was a pretty good show. The lineup was The Persuaded, A World Turned Black, and The Protest. My neck is still a little sore from headbanging. I do wish a mosh pit would have started though.

The show was awesome got lots autographs 

Unexpected find in Liverpool today - Pestilence "Consuming Impulse" 2 CD reissue with the original artwork on the CD cover/booklet (more familiar "ant" artwork by Squel on the cardboard sleeve front).  2nd CD has 16 live tracks and a bonus demo track of "Consuming Impulse".

Converse sneakers.
