  1. Just ordered this: https://store.relapse.com/item/37987 God I'm a nerd
  2. Been listening to that quite a lot in recent weeks. A little too abrasive for my tastes really, but I appear to have acquired a taste for it nonetheless.
  3. FatherAlabaster recommended it to me, otherwise I might never have heard it...
  4. Cemetary - An Evil Shade of Grey
  5. Morta Skuld - As Humanity Fades
  6. Desultory - Into Eternity. Sounding amazing too, thanks for the recommendation!! Yeah, there are some real gems on there. A few tracks which grate on me a little as well, but overall it's excellent.
  7. Cemetary - An Evil Shade Of Grey (having seen it recommended on the death metal suggestions thread )
  8. Same here, and I like some of Umskiptar too. Mayhem never really did it for me. So yeah, I vote Burzum!
  9. Yep, each to their own and all that
  10. There are plenty of talented knobs out there for sure, and I'll suffer them if they're making good music, but I do draw the line at truly horrid people. That said - even though Varg is a murdering racist nut job, I don't seem to feel the need to draw that line. But for Benton I do. Perhaps it's because I love animals, and he likes to burn rodents and pull the tails off lizards. I probably do tend to dislike people who hurt animals more than those who hurt people. Add that to everything else that's wrong about him/them, and the scales are definitely tipped for me.
  11. I went to see them in December 2014, and couldn't agree more about it being a great show. But yes, Vincent was looking a bit Sixxy now you mention it
  12. Can't say I have ever truly got into Cannibal Corpse. I own Butchered At Birth, but that aside I just have a homemade 2CD compilation. I have got very into watching documentaries about Cannibal Corpse, though. I've bought them all, and watched them all repeatedly. Can't quite put my finger on the appeal, guess I must warm to them. Or something. I'm strange.
  13. I remember being 15 and buying Once Upon The Cross, and a Deicide hoodie. God (no pun intended) I was rebellious. Was just a fleeting thing though, I've generally always avoided satanic metal (as a kid because I was scared by it, as an adult because I've found it silly). In recent (YouTube) years I've seen a few documentaries/interviews, and Glen Benton has come off like a really nasty piece of work. Those Hoffman brothers too, one of them in particular (can't remember his first name right now). I did get sucked back in a little when they recruited Jack Owen, and I was impressed by their Hellfest 2016 set, but I now hear that Jack Owen has left. And there was basically zero chance of me ever buying another Deicide album again anyway.
  14. Entirely up to you of course, but one CD simply cannot contain enough tracks for an adequate best of. Would be pretty extreme to recommend buying six albums (War Master on), but I might suggest starting off with one of the best albums rather than a best of. If I had to pick one it would probably be Those Once Loyal (their last album ...unusual for a band to produce their best work 18 years into their career but there we have it).
  15. Can't wait to see the new Alien movie.
  16. Been watching quite a lot of comedy recently. A couple of British Trailer Park Boys-inspired shows - This Country, People Just Do Nothing. Vice Principals is quite good, by the same people as Eastbound and Down. American Dad, Lillyhammer, Toast of London... Been re-watching a lot of Only Fools and Horses, and Beavis and Butthead. Also been re-watching some 80s cartoons lately - Dungeons and Dragons, Mysterious Cities of Gold. And Columbo. Other recent guilty pleasures have included Spartacus, and Pablo Escobar: El Patron Del Mal. The Young Pope is pretty great, so far at least. The first seasons of True Detective and Bloodline are well worth a watch. Better Call Saul is ok, not as good as Breaking Bad though I don't reckon. Looking forward to starting Ash vs Evil Dead.
