  1. Cool, I have been wanting to get into bands like vio-lence, hexx, artillery, and dark angel.
  2. For me, metal is a hobby, a fun thing I just really enjoy. However, it is also therapy, anger management and at one point in my life a treatment for depression.
  3. I play a Jackson js32t in black with white body binding. I took out the neck and bridge pickup and put a white emg 81 in the bridge leaving a pickup cavity in the neck. I think it's gonna be my thing though, I like it a lot, I bought this guitar in a guitar center one Christmas brand new and loved it of course because of the legend himself, randy rhoads. I play thrash and death metal, I do mainly havok covers, but the stuff I write is heavily influenced by slayer, exodus, kreator, and more recently, revocation and death. By the way I'm 14 and have been playing for 6 years, and this Saturday I'm going to audition for a local thrash band! I play rhythm guitar.
  4. Since it's been more than a year now you might have heard these guys by now but if you haven't here are my favorite bands from my favorite genres, black metal: dimmu borgir, dragonlord thrash metal: havok, megadeth, testament, exodus, kreator, sepultura death/tech death: Morbid angel, death, revocation, Amon Amarth, act of defiance
  5. Havok, megadeth, kreator, exodus, testament, (I have to fit them in), sepultura
  6. You've got some good chops dude, I enjoyed the ep, keep it up. I'm 14 and am trying to do something similar with thrash metal though.
  7. Bay Area: I'm all for testaments late 90s stuff specifically the gathering and low, however the new order will probably always be my favorite, I also love exodus early stuff and early-mid 2000s stuff with rob dukes German Teutonic thrash: kreator is my favorite band I love all of their 80s stuff, and all their 2000s stuff (not so much the 90s) I love sodoms 80s stuff a ton too, again not so much the 90s stuff (except tapping the vein) and also their early-mid 2000s stuff
  8. Megadeth-rust in peace kreator-extreme aggression Metallica-...and justice for all sepultura-arise testament-the new order exodus-bonded by blood slayer-reign in blood havok-time is up Sodom-persecution mania kreator-pleasure to kill
  9. Hello everyone, this thread is about songs/albums (modern thrash) that will become classics 20-30 years from now. Here is my list: Dark roots of the earth-Testament album Time is up-Havok album Downfall-Exodus song Children of a worthless God-Exodus song Lying in state-Megadeth song Formation of damnation-Testament album Phantom antichrist-Kreator album Hordes of chaos-Kreator Enemy of God-Kreator What do you guys think?
  10. That is true, if it is hero worship, which I guess it is, Dave does a pretty good job paying tribute to his hero. Listen to their new album, before I heard it, I didn't like revocation that much either.
  11. Hello, everyone recently I've been listening to a lot of revocation, and is it just me, or is Dave Davidson a modern day chuck schuldiner? I know no one can replace chuck, but Dave Davidson is (from what I've heard) it seems like is on par with chucks guitar chops. Even in some revocation songs their vocals to me, sound pretty similar. He even, although it's not a bc rich stealth plays a similar guitar as chuck did, a Jackson warrior. Has anyone else made the connection? What do you guys think? Is Dave Davidson reminiscent of chuck to any of you?
  12. Hello everyone, I know in one of my previous forums I said it would be a bad idea to cover my guitar in stickers. I still am not going to, but right now I'm really into a band called havok, who by the way if you don't know them are an amazing thrash band, check em out. Anyways their lead guitarist in a music video used an Alexi laiho 600 scythe with a few stickers on the side and a few around the bridge. The stickers were small so it's not like I'm totally changing the way the guitar looks, I think it adds some flare to the guitar. If anyone could help identify these stickers that would be amazing. Also, if the pictures don't show up please tell me because I'm posting this on an iPhone. One last thing, what do you all think of havok?
  13. I'm interested, I live in Kentucky so there isn't much interest in metal here, especially thrash metal, which is what I'm into. I like, kreator, havok, Metallica, megadeth, nuclear assault, exodus, death, testament, Sodom, destruction, etc. I'm only 14 though, I play rhythm guitar
  14. Postmortem/reigning blood (cover)-havok
  15. If you are interested message me for more details, contact info, location, etc
  16. Hello, I'm 14 and want more than anything to start a thrash metal band, however I live in Kentucky and with my age, the age limit for band members would probably be like 16. I can cover rhythm guitar and if needed possibly vocals. I need a lead guitarist bassist and drummer and if possible a vocalist. Please help me!!!!!! I've researched it and all metal bands from Kentucky are black or death metal, sssssooooo if you joined you would be a part of the first Kentuckian thrash metal band! Please, join if you live in the area and are interested or if you know anyone please tell me. Thank you, Charlie
  17. Yea, I thought about that too, if I'm gonna cover a guitar in stickers they should mean something to ME.
  18. Hello, I've recently been listening to havok and I've really enjoyed their music, I noticed that David Sanchez has a really cool custom esp. I did research and it's an esp shadow covered in various stickers. Could someone please help me identify the stickers he has on his guitars I would really like to build a David Sanchez custom, so, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks
  19. Hello, recently I've been looking around for thrash playlists on Apple Music and I found a playlist titled, "best of '00s thrash" so I listened to it and enjoyed it quite a bit. Bands like warbringer, havok, municipal waste, toxic holocaust, evile, and skeletonwitch wowed me. Anyways I started researching the thrash Renaissance or thrash revival movement and not once did I see havok's or evile's name. This seemed odd to me because havok and evile formed in the 2000s and from what I heard had some great thrash material. Why is this? If anyone knows please tell me, also what do you guys think about the thrash revival/Renaissance and what are some of your favorite bands from the movement? Also, what old bands do you think have produced good thrash in recent years? I really enjoy modern kreator, destruction, death angel, and "dystopia" by megadeth.
  20. Hello, I've heard so many good things about the band death and last night I decided to listen to them for the first time. (I'm only 14), anyways, I was blown away by their music and chuck schuldiner's incredible talent. What do you guys think are the songs by death that define their sound? Also, death being one of the pioneering death metal bands, what do you all think are the ones that influenced death metal the most? So far I've enjoyed, "the philosopher", "spirit crusher", "lack of comprehension" and "crystal mountain."
