  1. As you probably know, Norway has two official written languages, that are pretty much identical in the eyes of foreigners. "Noregs Vaapen" is a grand mal violation of the boundaries between them. (Vaapen being an archaic "conservative" form, whereas Noreg is radical "neo-Norwegian". People get killed over that shit.) It's also perhaps a point that "vaapen" in normal use will translate into "coat of arms" more often than "weapons". Context is everything. The way it is written up is best translated as "this is the real symbol of Norway" ... if you want to know what it means, that is. That being said, great fucking album!

  4. It's love. NP: Septicflesh - 'Codex Omega' An album I played down at the time due to oversaturation with Septicflesh, but this is genuinely an amazing album, and one of their best.

  7. Marduk - 'Nightwing' The last of the first Marduk albums. A joy to listen to. Interesting, there are a huge amount of lyrics here which the band trims down in later releases. Each song is a veritable story, especially the second half of the album which is a concept of Vlad the Impaler.

  8. Not only is this a not a poser answer, you've got it basically right! 'Kata Ton Daimona Eautou' is a brilliant album and if I'm pushed could almost call this my favourite of theirs too. Amazing album of occult ritual darkness.

  9. I'd walk 500 miles for a Proclaimers song. Good call. NP: The Vision Bleak - 'Carpathia' These guys never really lived up to the greatness that was Empyrium. I think the best thing about The Vision Bleak was their amazing packaging, booklets and artwork that really channeled a gothic sense of Victoriana. I have their first three albums, and the music is very good but I think just lacking a little bit of atmosphere and romance to pull it off properly. They're more Metallica's 'Black Album' than 'Cruelty and the Beast', which I think was to their detriment. Still, definitely good Lovecraftian fun.

  10. Is it a poser answer to say Xibalba? Because that's definitely my favorite song from them. That whole album was killer.

  11. I'm listening to Diabolical Masquerade Ravendusk in My Heart for the very first time ever out of curiosity because 1) Anders Nystrom (goes without saying) 2) The tracklist made me laugh Instrumentally it's no surprise given how phenomenal his work is with Katatonia but I'm fucking impressed with the vocals.

    What's on your mind?

Really? Never found that button. Everything’s too complicated for everything else. On my mind, the Imperial Palace to myself next couple of nights and then the hordes return forevermore. Enjoy it while I can with my homie Belief. Also on my mind is the new Rotting Christ track ‘The Raven’ which is again way better when listened to out and about rather than when watching the lyric video. Death to lyric videos and their reign of falseness.
