  1. I think I read a review for this album somewhere a couple weeks ago, members of Aosoth right? Really nice shit EDIT: welp, quick gander on my folders reveals I actually bought the damn thing too. Dont drink and bandcamp guys. Actually, fuck that, do that shit, cuz you find stuff like this in times of silence.
  2. I think I wrote some one time as well that we never used. Fuck who knows, its been a long year. Hope you enjoy it here Sisa, t'is a good place with awesome, thoughtful kind-hearted people. and then there's me. I'm kinda like the old guy at the pub you always see on Tuesdays for $2 bourbons, then wonder what the hell he could possibly be doing the other 6 nights of the week.
  3. just coming off of a long weekend in tampa, caught Mayhem/Watain/Rotting Christ friday night, and sense my brain is still not on all cylinders Ill describe the show very briefly. Rotting Christ - painfully disappointing. still got some great riffs, but when did they turn into fist-pumping bro's? There were some great parts but the new stuff sounds, for lack of a better word, stupid to me, and their stage presence was beyond lame. Watain - I dont give a shit if these guys are pretentious fuckholes pumping out B-grade black metal, they put on a HELL of a show that night, musically and theatrically. I also liked how they came with their own sound crew, they easily had the best mix of the night. And the guitarist vomited on a chick who was fucking with his monitor up front, so that was cool. Mayhem - the mix was clearly geared more toward the vocals than anything else, but they did sound good, despite probably about 3 times Im pretty sure I noticed the guitarist going off time with everybody else for a moment, but ay its Mayhem. Their setlist was beefy as fuck though, not one dull moment. I was also pretty surprised at the mild humility they showed after the set, spent a good fifteen minutes showing gratitude to the crowd, something I did not expect from them. overall I give the show a hard B, RC just really let me down, maybe just because I havent listened to an album since Theogonia
  4. the first 20 seconds of that song get me so hard. what a monstrous opening
  5. Eight Bells - Hating http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2015/11/eight_bells_now.html I think I'm just musically in love with Rae Amitay, it seems like everything she touches just hits me in the sweet spot, even when she's not on vox. This is much different than her usual schtick too, very doomy, in a more classic Cathedral-like sense.
  6. cant wait to catch this show next friday, its our friends' unofficial pre-wedding party. unholy matrimony out the ass! haha
  7. the file is on my friends camera, so I dont really know how to upload it to youtube or anything at the moment, but here's a link to my facebook page, anyone interested just send me a friend request and the video should be visible, i keep my profile private to protect employment interests haha https://www.facebook.com/evan.schaaf this was a simple, one-take freestyle I did after a couple beers. I had to keep the cigarette going to keep my focus on point. despite one or two minimal pronunciation errors I'm really happy with how it turned out
  8. havent been on for a bit, just checkin up on you beautiful folks. been a pretty hectic week and I still have one more work shift ahead of me in the morning, but pretty excited to be filming a video tomorrow afternoon. nothing too fancy, actually much different from anything i've ever done. Pretty sure at least a few of you know I've been doing hiphop on the side for many years, and I've never made an official offering to my hometown so me and a friend decided we would put something out seeing that I'm leaving for Florida in six weeks. I know most of you arent much for the genre but I have a lot of fun with it, my style is fairly metalhead friendly, content wise. Lots of satan, despicable humor, and tempo changes. It'll be on my facebook page, and for those who dont have me on there I could post it somewhere on here for those interested. aside from that, just trying to keep my head above water and prepare for this move, and despite a few obstacles here and there I'm in a significantly better place than i was a matter of months ago. hope everyone i havent talked to is doing well
  9. Stumbled upon this band today, pretty fun listen. It's got the drummer from Tsjuder in it, and its definitely not run of the mill grind. Its brutal and chaotic but there's also a lot of dare I say melodic riffs threaded into the wall of destruction. the vocals arent my favorite of the style, but they dont detract much from the quality of the music, which imo is pretty high. https://beatentodeath.bandcamp.com/
  10. hell yeah man, always a fun feeling getting a new addition. It'd be hard to list mine, some I've had for 10+ years, some i strictly work out in, some i only use as house wear/pj's if you will, some i only go to the beach in blah blah blah okay maybe i can get a little metro for a metalhead sometimes haha
  11. i've been doing upper body pretty adamently for about a year and a half now, arms back and chest, and crunches when I feel like it, usually all machines sparing the occasional freeweight tricep extension. I actually just very recently started doing leg lifts because for a long time I was simply relying on extensive runs and incline walks for that, but with my knee problems those chickens have already come to roost, so I decided to try to build up a bit around them in hopes that they'll hold up a bit more through the years. I fractured the patella in my left leg when I was 11 and my right has been dislocated and sprained so many times that even it gives me a some trouble sometimes. Man does the first week of legs suck or what?
  12. I just started properly working out maybe 3 years ago, growing up I was fairly active but I ended up taking a few injuries that slowed me down a good bit, then once I discovered drugs and alcohol it was game over. I'm about 5'9, maaaaybe 5'10, and weighed about 170 at 18 years old, but somewhere about 3 years ago i was in a pretty miserable long term relationship, and we all know how that can affect your health. I was something like 205, all fucking beer and burrito weight, so I started running about 3 miles a week and dropped 30 pounds within a month. Then I eventually moved into lifting, now it's a huge part of my week to the point where I get cranky as shit if i dont get to go to the gym at least 3 times a week. I'm back at my normal weight now, fluctuating from 175-180. Im not cut up by any means, nor am I terribly thin, but I think I look fairly good shirtless, so there's that haha If I were a little more strict about my diet, and alcohol intake, I'd be in infinitely better shape than I am, but eh.....fuck it. I'll do that later.

    Tattoos

I think I may go in for a new one in the next few weeks. I was holding out for a half-sleeve design that my best friend is doing for me but I've been doing pretty well financially and just need to scratch this itch haha. Ive been wanting to get something for my German heritage for a long time, so now Im thinking of a inner-forearm design involving the tip of a Germanic era sword or spear, along with emblazoning my favorite Satanic Warmaster lyric "Let my words be my blade, let my songs be my spear", still deciding if I want it in German or English. Then again depending on what mood I happen to enter I may hold off until I get my half sleeve done, which Im really excited for. The idea was inspired by the cover to AnB's Agorapocalypse album, but I told my friend to base it off of personal traits of me in the most objective way possible, and so far it's looking pretty awesome, I'll have to post a picture once its finished
  14. Of course, you're totally right, there's always good stuff in any genre, I just tend to speak in generalities because...well, I'm a bit of an asshole.
  15. ZOTZ - B3: Christy really fucking digging this record, highly head noddable but ugly punk shit with some post/surf edge to it.
  16. Pretty much every valid point has been made here, though I really think above all it has to do with somewhat conflicting images between the scenes. I remember in high school it was always beef between the core kids and the metal kids, almost out of pure obligation. Stupid, yeah, but its easy to get swept up in that mob mentality when you're young, which most of the bands putting out the core stuff are, as are most of the fans. I think alot of the aggression probably just came from metalheads who got pissed when other people would lump them in with the core scene just out of ignorance, which only exacerbates the situation. I mean, I tend to shy away from most metalcore simply because alot of its just isnt good, imo. But eh, its got its place I guess. I also notice alot of times that you'll find musicians in metalcore bands go off and do real metal side projects, which sortof tells me that even they understand that metalcore in particular is overwhelmingly vanilla metal, tailored strictly for mass appeal. Sure Trivium's talented, but their music fucking sucks to me, I'll take Matt Heafy's work in Capharnaum any day. I'm just talking about metalcore right there though, I really love alot of grindcore and a good bit of hardcore, and I dont really pick up on an abundance of hate for those genres, I think metalcore's just like today's hair metal, kinda the pretentious younger brother that somehow gets all the pussy. But ay, both genres have their select good bands through the years.
  17. Yeah Costello was definitely modeled a good bit after Whitey, but what a lot of people never seem to mention is that Departed was really a remake of a fantastic Chinese film Infernal Affairs, it just happened to fit pretty well into the setting of south Boston at the time so Marty tweaked the characters to appeal to that setting. I think only Scorcese could have pulled that off the way he did.

    Pets

Redtails imo are the best snakes for pets, but only if you've got prior experience with snakes. Ball pythons are far and beyond the best beginner snakes, but they're so slow and stoic most of the time. Redtails are like the labradors of the snake world, oozing with personality, active, and generally great socially. And the good part is there's plenty of different types of redtails to choose from. If size is an issue, Cay Caulker red tails are a uniquely gorgeous alternative that very rarely reach more than four and a half feet (I believe I included a couple mine in the pictures I posted here a while back). I loved my time working with reds, but to me, you simply cant beat a big lovely Columbian redtail, no chance.
  19. Checked out the couple available tracks from Horrendous's upcoming album when I saw a pretty gushing review on AngryMetalGuy, and damn, this shit sounds really, really good. https://darkdescentrecords.bandcamp.com/album/anareta

i disagree strictly regarding the latest one. The story was nothing terribly original but Trevor was such a great character and I loved watching the narrative unfold just to see what he'd do next, and the soundtrack was really fantastic in just about every aspect. I thought that was easily the best installment of the franchise sparing the totally underdeveloped online play
  21. i fucking love Rod, even though as a fan of real classic standards I cant stand his attempt at them, I love his work with Faces and solo stuff. i used to play Every Picture Tells a Story with my cousin back when I was learning the ropes on bass. Nowadays even if its on every local channel I just cant turn the station away from Maggie May, though every time I sing it i have to say "Maggie I wish I never fucked your face!". His voice was just very emotive yet you cant help but only feel good listening to it
  22. ^^I'm going to see Watain next month with Mayhem, but have never listened to them consciously, anyone here seen em? Been absent for a bit just making the transition from my old house to my temporary flop at the moment, living with my dad like a punk because I needed the rent-free three months before I made the jump to florida in january. Its not terrible, some difficulties but eh, i can deal.
  23. a very close friend of mine lives in salt lake, its much more probable than you'd assume. Last time I was there i had a blast really, that was in 2008
  24. it was april of 1989 ya dick! total 90's dm sound. but ok, ill put the lotion on its skin
  25. Heils, nice to see another southeasterner on the boards. What is Taste of Khaos all about?
