  1. Asahi is a solid Japanese-made Pilsner. Another one in that vein is Kirin Ichiban. I'd actually drink those! Both several notches above Heinie and our American piss water like Bud, Coors, or Miller. Another excellent Japanese brewery - though I don't think they make a Pilsner - is Hitachino. If you like wheat beers, their Hitachino Nest White Ale is awesome, and for a slightly different flavor, their Red Rice Ale is my personal favorite. A bit pricier than the other two makers, but well worth it for a splurge.
  2. Banned by the power of the Holy Hand Grenade
  3. Lawnmower Deth - Kids In America H34VYM3T4LD4V3... what have you done...
  4. Not up on sports, but isn't the other team always the enemy? This must be one of those Yankees/Red Sox rivalries.
  5. Fired and banned for not realizing there was a "raceest" working in the establishment.
  6. Preston Reed - Handwritten Notes my favorite album of his - if you like solo acoustic guitar, you've gotta hear this.
  7. It's time to start the heaviest yet lamest genre ever: Corecore.
  8. Christmas. It's always been way more fun for me. Better food, better beer, better music. Loki or Seth? (the religious figures, not the bands)
  9. Aragorn, hands down. Since they're both dead now, Dio or Freddy Mercury?
  10. break several windows, one of which was a priceless seventeenth-century stained glass panel, which made your mom really upset, and she...
  11. Just finishing up some Scotch ale after a day of hanging with my wife and kid at our favorite bar in the city. Churr bro.
  12. which the clowns didn't warn anyone about, and as a result...
  13. Danzig - Brand New God this stuff is hilarious, I haven't heard it in probably 15 years ...and I still like it
  14. rate - all the awesome beer I just had at my favorite bar. slate - now I can't afford that whiskey. don't turn into me...
  15. I know you like Jugulator... but I've gotta say Painkiller. Alan Holdsworth or Robert Fripp? (sorry kids...)
  16. Drama drags bands down. If he doesn't want to be there, let him go. You have plenty of time to find someone else. And since you're starting off, you'll need to get used to people coming and going 1) as their tastes change, 2) as they grow up and start making other choices, 3) as they go through the various identity crises associated with adolescence, 4) as they move away for schools/college/jobs/families. Shit happens, it'll be ok, just stay dedicated to your own music.
  17. Glenn Benton. Glenn Beck is a different kind of insane. I understand Cannibal Corpse being played out, but have you listened to their old shit? Not the McDonalds of death metal that they've been recently? Butchered at Birth and Tomb of the Mutilated were two of my favorite albums growing up, and even some of the Corpsegrinder material like Gallery of Suicide and Bloodthirst is still cool to hear. BTW caring about lyrics is a great quality, and one that I didn't possess until my late 20s, so you're ahead of the game there. I always had trouble understanding vocalists. Even the clean stuff.
  18. Again, not my favorite Sabbath, but Dio had an excellent voice that suited the music well. And this one suited my mood at the time. 7.5/10 So here's another different sort of classic: fcE_oS5mybY
  19. Glad to see you found Cattle Decap. There's a ton of good stuff out there. Since you're asking about death metal, I'd like to put a word in for some classics: Cannibal Corpse's "Tomb Of The Mutilated", Suffocation's "Pierced From Within", and Deicide's "Legion". You've probably already heard them, but maybe some younger people haven't, and today's death metal wouldn't be the same without these three albums.
  20. You guys probably know Old Chub, a Scotch ale from Oskar Blues - the folks who brought you Dale's Pale Ale. I'm on my fourth of the evening. It gets better with every sip.
