Metal Fatigue It's that burnout point where nothing sounds heavy or exciting anymore. Where you've listened to so much abrasive shit that none of it's abrasive enough. Where every album by your favorite bands, and every mix of every fucking song you write, sounds like it's being played through a wool blanket. Not because there's anything wrong with your ears; the problem is in your head somewhere. This ever happen to any of you? I knew it was a problem this morning when Repulsion started sounding weak and slow(!!!). I'm going on a bike ride to try and shake this shit off. Ugh.

Depends on what you call brutal. But if you like Abominable Putridity, check out Meathook; some local groups like Macerated (VA) or Dysentery (MA)... I see you've already been after Necrophagist. Cephalic Carnage is by far my favorite of the brutal/tech/death/grind bands, already mentioned, and for something a bit older: 4GZ6RL8ZNDM

Pantera - Cowboys From Hell

This is where Type O got it from. Awesome, not my favorite Sabbath but easily an 8/10. Here's a classic from a different era: OOoklqEDlFw @Metalhead Steve: not saying some djent bands don't have progressive tendencies. It's a forward-looking style. But the "prog" label is taken by stuff like Rush, King Crimson, or Yes that had very strong technical chops and jazz influences, and/or metal bands that picked it up and ran with it. That Descending song was pretty derivative of other modern metal and didn't show any direct prog influence.

Yeah totally, the soundcloud stuff is all for the new album. I'm about half done recording. Seriously, all I'm doing is taking care of my kid and working on these songs. Otherwise it won't ever get done. I'm always torn between painting and music, but right now music wins. I do have some other recent drawings that I'll post soon, though.
