  1. Re: Rate the song above you! since I'm really not a fan of death metal the fact that I didn't mind that song is amazing, 7.5/10 and it's more thrash from me, enjoy
  2. Re: Rate the song above you! what is with all the death metal? it's getting old, 4/10 couldn't find an actual vid but
  3. Re: best metal guitarist (your opinion) speaking of people influential on metal I'm surprised no one has mentioned Ted Nugent yet, or Ace Frehley, or Jimmy Page, those guys were very influential in the early days of hard rock and metal, and saying that Ozzy Osbourne and Pantera aren't "real metal"? ok exactly what is real metal? because personally I don't think Death, Sentenced or Samson are all that great
  4. Re: What bands do you want to see live? I'd love to see the following: Slayer Megadeth Judas Priest Iron Maiden Motorhead Yngwie Malmsteen (because I want to know if he can actually play live or if he fakes it like Dragonforce) and Metallica again
  5. Re: best metal guitarist (your opinion) no respect for the dead apparently, guess you'd say Randy Rhoads was over-rated too? look man just coz you don't think he was all that great doesn't mean no one should, we're entitled to our own opinions here and that's exactly what they are, just because you don't like Dime doesn't mean you should look down on anyone that does anyway here's some more dudes that should be on here Kerry King - Slayer Synister Gates - Avenged Sevenfold (though I really don't like giving those guys any credit) Randy Rhoads - Ozzy Osbourne Zakk Wylde
  6. Re: Rate the song above you! guitar was pretty cool but really not a fan of the vocals it's a 6/10 from me
  7. Re: Rate the song above you! sorry dude but I just can't get into that sort of stuff, it's a 4/10 from me I think these guys would be much better with clean vocals
  8. Re: ing best drummers ps sorry for the typo in the title
  9. had a massive list but managed to get it down to four 1. Nicko Mcbrain - Iron Maiden, the guy is just a drumming machine 2. Dave Lombardo - Slayer 3. The Rev - Avenged Sevenfold, the guy was a great drummer even if Sevenfold sucks out loud 4. Nick Menza - Megadeth, damn Mustaine got lucky with some great drummers over the years
  10. Re: Favourite Vocalist impossible for me to name just one so here's my five fave singers 1. Ronnie James Dio - Rainbow, Black Sabbath/Heaven and Hell, Dio 2. Rob Halford - Judas Priest, Halford 3. Bruce Dickinson - Iron Maiden 4. Joey Belladonna - Anthrax 5. Phil Anselmo - Pantera because he was amazing on the first album
  11. Re: How Metal Affects You there are two ways that metal affects me, firstly when I listen to metal I feel like I'm part of this huge group, a family if you will, that shares the same love and respect for music that I do, this was really driven home last year when Metallica played my home town of Adelaide in Australia, to give you a little understanding of what it's like living in Adelaide it's also known as "the city of churches" because there's pretty much a church on every street. It's a place where the church groups kicked up about AC/DC playing a show here (and succeeded in having a curfew imposed on the concert), and where you will probably be called a "devil worshipper" for wearing a Judas Priest tee. So whilst I was standing (no one sat down from the moment Metallica walked out) at the concert I looked around at what was probably the 20,000 strong crowd (like I said it's a pretty small town) I couldn't help but think about all these people with different lives and interests, all jumping around and screaming the lyrics to Master Of Puppets at the top of their lungs. Second no matter how my day goes the music will always be there, it doesn't judge me or criticise me it's just always there for me, like an old friend, it's comforting, and on the days when I'm in a good mood it just makes me happier and I crank it all the way up, bang my head like a lunatic and sing along as loud as I can, whether the rest of my family likes that or not is probably another story but I just can't help myself ps sorry this post is so freakin' huge but I'm speaking from the heart and describing exactly how metal has influenced my life
  12. Re: What gear do you have ? just added the 2011 Dean Razorback Skulls to my collection (though I have to wait another month or so for it to actually get here) and I finally got round to checking my amp model, it's a Peavey Envoy 110
  13. Re: Best lines had two lines from the same song that I couldn't decide on so I'll just post 'em both "Distorted figures walk the street, it's 1989 Weeds once underneath your feet have grown to vines Bodies melting like a candle, land without a face No time to change your fate, no time left, it's too late" "The arsenal of megadeth can't be rid they said And when it comes the living will envy the dead Racing for power, and all come in last" - Megadeth - Set The World Afire
  14. Re: Rate the song above you! not really a fan of that type of metal, 4/10 from me and thats pushing it now here's a little bit of Ronnie James Dio for ya. (ps there probably is a way to actually include the clip in here like the above posts but I can't figure it out) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VB5TyfM5O3k
  15. Re: best metal guitarist (your opinion) I've got nothing against Angus, AC/DC is a good band, its just that I play guitar and like the guys that come up with complex technical music, I learn an AC/DC song it takes me maybe three weeks, I just finished learning Megadeth's Holy Wars, it took me two months (and I still don't have it perfect) the cool thing about metal fans is that we don't get all pissed off if someone disagrees with us, something all the non-headbangers really should learn about
  16. Re: top fives can't name any death or black metal vocalists so here's one top five thrash bands 1. Slayer 2. Pantera 3. Megadeth 4. Exodus 5. Metallica
  17. so here's how this will work, I'll start with a topic and make a list, if the next person agrees with all five then you start a new topic, if you disagree then put in your list and so on OK first topic will be best drummer in metal (living or dead) 1. Nicko Mcbrain 2. Dave Lombardo 3. Nick Menza 4. Vinnie Paul Abbot 5. Charlie Benante
  18. Re: best metal guitarist (your opinion) no offence to freddy but Angus Young is hardly a great guitar player, the dude knows maybe 5 chords, Kirk Hammett isn't a great guitar player for the same reason, neither of them really know what they're doing. In my opinion you can't be a great guitar player without technique and knowledge of scales, look at guys like Steva Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen and even Dave Mustaine they all have great technique and really know their scales and how to work them into the music and that is what makes them great guitar players
  19. I know its not exactly a new album anymore but it is one of my favourites so here goes Endgame continues Megadeth's triumphant return to their thrash metal roots, it contains the usual Mustaine mix of lyrical influences and the bleak world view Mustaine generally employs. the riffs and solos are at times brutal, at times melodic, and sometimes both. stand out tracks on this album include "Head Crusher", "44 Minutes", "This Day We Fight" and the title track "Endgame", but every track on this album is worth a listen.
  20. Re: Best lines going with something classic "Oh no its the midnight hour, don't open the door, don't go to the edge of rainbows, don't sleep anymore you'll dream evil"
  21. Re: Rate the song above you! not really the metal i like listening to, 3/10
  22. Re: Rate the song above you! not a big fan of dream theater and that's why, there is no reason to have a song that long, 4/10
  23. Re: best metal guitarist (your opinion) almost forgot about my favourite guitar player, and the sole reason i listen to Children Of Bodom, Alexi Laiho
  24. Re: Rate the song above you! one of the better clips i've seen, 7/10 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTMN6pqCMbw
