I've done a fair amount of mindful meditation myself although I'm not nearly as disciplined as I wish I were in my practice. Lately, I've been using a Headspace app on my phone for guided meditations.  I've tried with music, but overall, I find it interferes with my ability to stay in the moment and watch my breath, but I know a lot of people like mediation with music. I've come to prefer listening to natural sound. 

Really great album here. Heard it a few times before, decided to do a review; personally I like it because each song has its own style, sometimes you get some albums that just all sound the same and are lyrically the same too. its because of this that its so hard to pick a favorite song from the album. I like them all... Ivan does an epic job with the vocals, and the badass guitar riffs sit nicely too. its cool how they sometimes have acoustic guitars playing in the midst, I know tons of other bands do this too, but it spices it up even more. another thing that ive noticed is the album art, now, i dont know about you guys, but the album art is also a (side) factor for me, of course its the music that counts, but this particular album art is notably different from many other metal albums out there, just goes to show that FFDP are willing to be different, which is epic. soooooo... what do you guys think of got your six? hope you liked this review, and hope it wasnt too cheesy, as it is my first... until now, stay brutal🤘

i have recently been doing meditation and mindfulness in genral, and i find burzum ok to meditate with. also, clearing your mind can be fun to do before listening to metal, as i find a clear mind can pick up and take in all aspects of the complex musical structure. dark ambient is also fun to meditate with

id say being a metalhead means quite alot, if not everything to me. most people, normal people dont understand this and thats the idea. no matter how shit a day im having it makes it better, it makes me feel not alienated and different, but the SAME as my heavy metal idols. i feel its both a rejection of the adidas tracksuit and an acceptance of the denim and leather (reference intended) at the same time, if you get what i mean. if im gonna listen to music, im gonna listen to metal. 

There's a huge sense of drama to the is thread that points to some underlying problems.  I mean if you have stepped away from metal and your friends have turned away from you then it strikes me that they weren't good friends in the first place.  Taken at face value your posts suggest you were sick of your life given the theatre around the language you used (guessing English isn't your first language though so may appear more dramatic then you intend).
But it sounds like you're happy with your musical tastes now and you should never feel bad about evolving your listening habits.

Right foot!

I'm a full one-man air band if it's music I like. Air drums with both feet and my hands, air guitar, moving around, shaking my fist in the air, mouthing the words or even singing along. Super entertaining for me. Less so for the family.

I tap my right foot but move my right hand too if it's very exciting music like angel of death 

Both feet. I'm an air drummer, I'm actually very good at it too, but it's easy to be good at something that doesn't exist.
 

(epic question) just curious as to see whenever you tap your left or right foot while listening to metal, or if you do at all? maybe we could start alliances and have a full on forum staged war, I for one tap with my right foot... let me know down below. 😁

i thought load was ok, but the whole lulu lou reed stuff was just not what im looking for. country music to me is like some wierd form of folk metal, if that makes sense... combine it with metallica leaving their thrash roots, just, no. 😑 
opinions on death magnetic? i thought that was a decent record, sorta like the old thrash stuff.

Its been said, but metallica, in my opinion havent released a decent record since death magnetic. after the black album is great music and stuff, but its sad to see them cut their hair and kinda drop thrash like that.

i breifly remember finding this one on my youtube reccomended, and it re-enforced my annoyance towards the youtube algorithm. it was really great until the vocals kicked in, but when they did they kinda kicked in like a kick in the balls. you must hear it alot: if you dont like the vocals, the whole stuff is not exactly there. 
wierd thing is, i read the lyrics to the first track, titled "mutard" and actually began to get on board with how funny it was. i was already digging the guitar, so from there it started to grow on me. 
long story short, im now contemplating buying an inhuman inebriation t-shirt offline with what remaining birthday money i have left. i probably will. 

May I recommend immortal, a Norwegian black metal band. these guys are really great, I only just discovered them recently.

its my favourite of mettalicas also. it has good exciting energy when i listen to it and technical mastery in there too. im no musician but it just sounds good. love the opening riff from ride the lighting. so simple but it works so well.   bit rubbish that your lightning t shirt is getting passed it. you could put the old one in safe place or frame it. last thing you want is someone using the t shirt as a duster. definitely  not cool😫

That's the problem, he's all image and no substance.  Wails like a trapped animal making every sentence sound theatrical when it is clearly not needed.  Whether it is Mercyful Fate or him on his own I just don't get on with him.

personally, id have to say ride the lighting is my favorite album. its really awesome, individual and a downright classic. i used to have the t shirt, but it doesnt fit me anymore...😥 i think back in 1984, that was the best lineup, although ive never really thought about that before. finally, i gotta say that at the heart of winter is my favorite immortal album, of course that was their finest hour so it makes sense why thats my favorite, but withstand the fall of time is a great song.

i wouldnt know, im not really up on my black metal, which is why im here. ive watched a few videos about mayhem, they sound pretty dark, but im not too bothered, and to be honest i dont really know why. i mean, now i think about it, maybe i should be? ig its just a case of i like the music but not the people, to put it bluntly im not really fazed by it. but one thing i gotta say is that i am not a white supremacist, and ive seen those ideas and beliefs in many bands in metal (and genral music) before, but i do not agree with that stuff. ive studied black slavery before, and its just so messed up. but, if you do listen to that, i dont consider you a bad person, its your musical taste and i dont judge you at all for liking that, and i dont belive it makes you a certain type of person, either.

I was lucky, my parents were into punk and so i got to listen to lots of punk and alt music from tiny small. My mum also loved Sabbath and well.. it all went downhill from there.

Hey, we all start somewhere 😀
I've tried my hand at almost all eras of Enslaved and come to the realization that I just don't like them. They're boring, just like Sólstafir, no matter what genre they try their hand on. Fascinating how we can hear the same music and take away radically different things. This goes for FFDP as well 😉
