So the Castavet revival goes on.....Castavet/Mounds of Ash-fit into a time and place USBM vibe along with artists like Cobalt, Krallice (share band member), Ludicra, etc. This is really a kind of progressive post hardcore, post black kind of affair. Vocally, remind me of Aaron Turner's vocals.

Yeah Castavet-knew I had that name buried somewhere in my collection. Not in my digital collection....wtf....OK, time to look through the CD archives and in the rack, right next to Candlemass....found a single burned disc with hand written album titles old school from 2010--must have been from one of those wretched Itunes downloads prior to my digital rebirth crica 2012-Castavet/Mounds of Ash----will have to listen again. 
And inspired by Jon-on my drive-Carcass/Heartwork-FDR -accept no substitutes

It took me a solid ten years to really get into Enslaved, so I always sympathize when people say they haven't connected. There are some albums that still don't click for me - Vertebrae among them, actually. Glad to hear you're enjoying Utgard, it's a great album. Have you tried Isa and Ruun? Two of their stronger and more accessible offerings in my book. For their 90s stuff, my favorite (and for a while the only album I liked) was Blodhemn.
