noblastbeats gave a Damn to MacabreEternal in Paradise Lost
I gave this a spin the other night and was pleasantly surprised by how meaty it sounded. I haven't really ever bothered with PL to be honest and so came to this album cold in terms of what had gone before. The sound of the guitars is particularly pleasing to my ears, both from a rhythm and a lead perspective. Not enamoured with the clean vocals if I am honest but this is only one listen still thus far so there's time for them to grow on me (or time for me to hate them with more passion).

It's such a good album. The highlights are brilliant, including this amazing song. I'm still getting to know the deeper cuts, so I'll write a full analysis once I ingest it all properly.
Glad to discover they made a full recovery after the very flaccid 'Medusa' album (in my opinion).

noblastbeats given a Damn from Requiem in Spirituality through music
At 50 years old, metal has always been there for me. Fashions come and go but metal is just there, mutating, evolving like it itself is a living thing and in that way it is spiritual to me. I have a disorder called Schizoaffective (its like a mix of schizophrenia and bipolar) and when things get bad for me I can turn the 'spirit' that metal feeds me with into all sorts of things. For example, on a simple practical level, metal is meant to be loud and that very physical loudness can block out the voices I hear. Or maybe the raw aggression can fuel me into making it through the day but it is the spiritual, meditative feeling I get from playing metal in order to rest that helps me most of all. Simply, I feel calm when metal is playing and that allows me to sleep when all the meds in the world don;t help.

I know what you mean about metal helping you with a disorder. I have anxiety disorder, I get panic attacks which are so mentally exhausting and painful. I would never take meds I absolutely hate them, but metal really brings you down to earth, gives you something to concentrate on and the lyrics can be so relatable. Spiritually, I have to say for me, Metal gives me more emotion and meaning in my life then any god ever could.

noblastbeats gave a Damn to Requiem in New Draconian single
Thanks for posting Beatsy.
I've been a casual fan of Draconian for years now. I think they're a touch overrated and they don't quite have as many hooks as I would like, despite 'The Burning Halo' being one of the truly great gothic doom albums/EPs. That release is incredible.
As for this song, I don't know, it's a touch uneventful. I like the general aesthetic, but it's not exactly bringing me to tears due to its glory and pathos. I guess I need to listen to it several more times.
I own a heap of Draconian CDs but I hardly ever play them, except for 'The Burning Halo'. Not sure I'm going to bother with this one.
What do you reckon Beats?

noblastbeats gave a Damn to MageTower in Blackened Death metal
RetorntoCarthage why so much hate toward musical genre ? It's funny to get so aggressive because of..... musical style ? I know many good blackened death bands, they are simply black metal with death sound for example Saltus from my country - very good black metal with some death influences. Abusiveness is good too, same genre as Saltus. And what does homosexualism have in common with black metal ? Or with goats ? I know a lot of KIDS who quarrel which metal genre is "more trve and more fvckin deadly" it's childish
