  1. Not as in "post your address", heck I ain't even expecting you to state your town or city. More of a "What's Cool About Here" thread. I live in a tiny place called Lathom, it is a largely rural area with lots of greenery and roads with no footpaths (sidewalks for our American brethren). It is the kind of place were you wander down a lane and someone's dog greets you and then happily trots off back up it's garden path or driveway waiting for the next passer by. It has one pub (which I can see from my bedroom window across the fields) that serves real ale. There are no supermarkets in Lathom but then again nor is there anyone under the age of 70! Jus kiddin of course. Across the back from us are two donkeys (Hugo and Carlos) and they share their field with two alpacas, some chickens, some geese and a selection of wild rabbits. We have farm shops round here and so the emphasis is very much on homegrown produce bought from the source. We have the opportunity to buy our house that we rent here but we just can't afford it (thanks Capitalism) and there are too many jobs needed to bring the place up to scratch. There are no towns nearby with any music shops so I have to rely on the Internet to provide my music or head over to Liverpool for physical purchases. It is a great place to live and one I always look forward to coming back to, especially after my long trips away (which are less now). Once the house is sold we will try to stay in Lathom.
  2. I disagree when it comes to Diocletian but I accept that some "War Metal" bands get lumped in quite correctly as being "Bestial Black Metal" - Antaeus for example.
  3. "Erosion...." took a couple of spins to settle with me. I found "Considered Dead" to be far more instant on my pallette. "Obscura" is a lot to take in yes but is worth the effort I find. "From Wisdom..." has always occupied a soft spot in collection, not a bad record just a bit of a step down energy wise after "Obscura". Whilst I accept FatherA's criticism of the lengthy aspect of "Colored Sands" it still stands up as a fantastic monument of musical exploration which is only bettered by "Pleiade's Dust".
  4. Found my offensive t-shirt earlier. This is why Starbucks ask you to leave! Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
  5. Earlier I blitzed the house cleaning to Metallica "And Justice.." Never gets old that record always spilling over with "fuck the system and no mom I am not going to school today" thrash metal mentality. Now playing: Akhlys "The Dreaming I"
  6. Not "battle metal" - whatever that is? This is about one of metal's harshest and most extreme sub genres. It is chaotic and primitive in equal parts and so very often gets confused with black metal. Let's start with the obvious. Blasphemy, Canada's very own version of dynamite and gunpowder are the fucking epitome of war metal. Conqueror, also inflicted their own particular brand of Maple Leaf misery back at the end of the 90's. Bestial Warlust, relentless and crushing with "after thought" 5 second solos. Ouroboros, the band that never was - after two promising demos they went wayward after vocalist/guitarist Ryan Page went to prison for selling machine guns and explosives. Diocletian, the planet lost a true pioneer of war metal when these boys hung up their shitkickers last year. Deiphago, my favourite of all of theses bands. This is insanity on vinyl, cd or whatever other format you take your madness in. Revenge, a little more calculated in their delivery but still no less emphatic in their obscene extremity.
  7. Terra Tenebrosa "The Reverses" - really don't get this. To me it meanders in the spaces between black metal, industrial and noise without ever laying down any real foundations from any of the many building blocks it has to hand. It ends up making it's own extremity excessive actually. I feel like they are flogging me with their stick of randomness. Not for me. NP Akhlys "The Dreaming I"
  8. Years ago I got a fucking pisser of an ear infection that burst my eardrum in my right ear. Now, I get pain right down my ear canal and any loud noises really set my ear on edge. Over the past couple of years I have developed tinnitus in both ears which is a direct result of playing things through headphones too loud for years but lately i have also developed crackling in my ears too which is apparently hardened fluid. Basically, a combination of my own stupidity and a nasty infection once.
  9. My fucking ears are still giving me constant jip! Bring back syringing I say. Get well soon.
  10. Wode are decent yeah, I have it too. Lots going on from Dissection to NWOBHM also to my ears. NP Aura Noir "Out To Die" Diocletian "War of All Against All" - this is varied, grindcore, death metal and still a torrent of war metal bubbling under the surface.
  11. It's only 3 tracks and 2 are covers, but yeah it is very much the direction of "Foundations..." really.
  12. There's quite a few acts that I'd add into it but I suppose the traffic on the forum doesn't always reward time spent creating sections with prolonged usage afterwards. Might think about adding something in the "Other Metal" section later as a new thread.
  13. I've met his cousin "The Bung Droid of Massive Wee Fountain".
  14. We actually need a "War Metal" Section in here as Diocletian are not "Battle Metal". FatherA - use your newfound internet connectivity wisely!
  15. Deiphago "Filipino Antichrist" I am blaming Salmonellapancake for my afternoon of war metal extremity. Blasphemy "Fallen Angel of Doom" Revenge "Scum.Collapse.Eradication"
  16. "Doom Cult" is the only one of theirs I have (I believe they are now split up). They were relatively late to the war metal scene but somehow managed to take the extremity of Revenge and take it somewherefuckingelsealtogether!
