  1. Re: Now...? wait so you joined twenty odd days after me and have over 900 more posts then me? man do I ever need to step up my contributions anyway Eating - nothing Drinking - Water Listening - Rob Rock Doing - not much Thinking - far too much lag on Halo now
  2. Re: Albums you feel are overrated yuck the last thing we need is another avenged sevenfold ruining the credibility of metal as legitimate music, which leads me to my next point: every album by avenged sevenfold, trivium, killswitch engage, bullet for my valentine etc is EXTREMELY over-rated
  3. Re: Now...? no rage quitting for me, I got my revenge on the guy in the next game with a snipe I will never be able to pull off ever again, and now I'm watching the clip of that game to relive my vengeance over and over again
  4. Re: Rate and Slate rating - the insane head shot I just pulled off slating - that I will never EVER be able to do it again
  5. Re: Albums you feel are overrated I've got a couple of South African friends and they have awesome taste in music, they are absolutely mental metal heads, the down side however is they will not listen to ANYTHING that doesn't have clean, powerful, vocals so they hate thrash, death and black metal, they also hate nu metal but that's not a bad thing anyway I think Ozzy Osbourne's solo work is for the most part over-rated
  6. Re: Rate and Slate rating - Halo slating - that sinking feeling when you get stuck by a plasma 'nade
  7. Re: Now...? Eating - nothing Drinking - nothing Listening - Helloween Doing - playing Halo 3 Thinking - where the fuck did that plasma grenade come from?
  8. Re: A non-Metal singers take on 5 greats with bands I don't listen to frequently I have a hard time remembering the names of vocalists but the "singer" in Black Label Society is woefully bad in my opinion one of the worst going around
  9. Re: gaming random ass sticks and ricochet headshots can only mean one thing, it's Halo time again hooray
  10. Re: Albums you feel are overrated this is how far behind aussie music trends are: through the last two years of primary school and the first half of secondary school grunge was the most popular form of music around, I finished primary school in 2003 (coincidentally the same year I discovered metal in the form of Pantera, really should thank my cousin for saving me from the horror of nirvana and soundgarden) this may be wrong but I'm pretty sure grunge died out around the mid to late 90's everywhere else in the world which leads me to albums I think are over-rated: every grunge album ever made
  11. Re: New Purchases/Acquisitions Blind Guardian - Somewhere Far Beyond Crimson Glory - Transcendance Deep Purple - Fireball Demons & Wizards - Demons & Wizards and two new sets of guitar strings
  12. Re: great albums four new power metal related albums Blind Guardian - Somewhere Far Beyond Crimson Glory - Transcendance Deep Purple - Fireball (without Ian Gillian's powerful vocals there probably wouldn;t be a Judas Priest, and without Judas Priest there would be no power metal) Demons & Wizards - Demons & Wizards
  13. Re: Rate the song above you! that was pretty good 7.5/10 this probably isn't metal but it is prog LQEgZNqa8jE
  14. Re: What Are You Listening To? Mercyful Fate - Satan's Fall
  15. Re: Heavy Metal Bands seems no one has posted here in quite some time, going back to what NTNR said on the previous page (sorry but I can not be bothered working out how to quote other posts) I think the division of metal into different genres started quite early on as a means for bands with similar sounds to distinguish themselves from what came before hence why bands like Iron Maiden, Angel-Witch, Saxon and the like distinguished themselves as NWOBHM, then came the glam bands, then thrash came along, the sub-genres have always existed in some form or other but it is only in the last fifteen years or so that sub-genres have become of crucial importance
  16. Re: What Are You Listening To? scratch that now it's Megadeth - 502, and @ Iceni my faveourite muscle car has always been the Dodge Challenger, gotta love those Hemi engines, Australia made some pretty good muscle cars as well actually, this list is probably meaningless to anyone who isn't really into Australian cars but anyway some examples of Aussie muscle cars, Holden Monaro, ran between 1968 and 1975 with '72 being it's best year, Holden Torana, ran between 1970 and '74, Holden Commodore models from the late '60's into about the mid 70's, the Commodore model is still around now but it's not really a muscle car anymore, Ford Falcon, again late sixties to mid seventies were muscle cars with the highlight being the Falcon XY GTHO Phase III, the last time one of those Phase III's came up for auction down here it sold for over $1,000,000 Australian, there are other Aussie muscle cars but I can't remember them off the top of my head, yeah in addition to my interests in metal and politics I'm also mad about classic cars

  18. Re: Rate the song above you! very enjoyable 8/10 JmV9MsFnUbk&feature=fvst I will have to start buying some of these guy's albums
  19. Re: Ban the user above you! banned because I can't think of a reason to ban you. I'm studying law (and loving it), and this semmester I'll be studying international law which should prove interesting
  20. Re: The Rant 10/10 even if I don't agree with some one's view, and I've strongly disagreed with some people's views on immigration and such matters, I firmly believe they are entitled to speak their mind ranting about the stupidity of over half the voting population in Australia (by the way it is actually illegal not to vote in Australia once you are registered at the age of eighteen) allowing their feelings towards the leaders of the two major parties here to dictate their vote and not the parties policy. As a result of this Australia's "elected" federal government is completely powerless because a minority party has the vast majority of seats in BOTH houses of parliament (yep we're a bi-cameral system) so the current government, was responsible for some terrible pieces of legislation when they could actually pass it, has to bend over backwards just to keep the country running, personally I don't like the leaders of the parties but that's not relevant, it's the policy that matters, I simply do not understand how a party hell bent on mass political reforms and serious alterations of freedom for the sake of the environment could recieve so many votes just to spite the major parties
  21. Re: advanced thrash metal any, thought I'd mix it up a little so when I've got money again I'll work on the power metal and other lists at the same time
  22. Re: Rate the song above you! oh son of a bitch it's copied the wrong fucking thing, I really should pay more attention sometimes, this is what it was meant to post in1TBIekq00
  23. Re: Ban the user above you! banned because I miss the political discussions I have with various people when I'm at uni
  24. Re: The Rant again 10/10 I enjoy a good political debate with rational arguments that consider the pros and cons of political philosophy so I hate people who argue that either the left or right wing are wrong simply because they are wrong. For example I strongly disagree with a policy the federal Australian government passed introducing a carbon tax, the discussion around it was so boring though it was all about how it wouldn't do anything but no discussion of why. I don't like it because it will result in power companies increasing their rates, which in turn will lead to increase in electricity bills for families, and an increased cost of production for businesses which rely on electricity, for example the production of parts for vehicles, which in turn will lead to Australian goods being unable to effectively compete against cheaper foreign goods, on top of which it doesn't actively encourage research into renewable energy sources such as solar power. On top of this even by the governments own figures the decreased carbon usage will be almost insignificant. which leads to my rant: governments passing environmental legislation to punish rather then encourage. I fail to understand how saying "we will make you pay a tax for your carbon usage so stop using carbon" is effective, I feel that legislation which encourages ingenuity is a far better option, governments should be saying "we understand it is difficult to develop effective technology to take advantage of renewable energy sources so we will provide funding to assist in this area". honestly governments should look carefully at all their options in regards to environmental law not just see "carbon tax" and think yeah we'll do that
