Well ladies and gents, I think I can call that date a resounding success. It lasted two hours more than expected, and it only really came to an end because it was closing time for the cafe. And to be honest, I doubt she would have kissed me out of nowhere if it had't gone so well.

All that drinking and smoking was sure to catch up with him eventually but still a great loss for the metal community.

Thanks for starting a thread for him AtTheGates. It occurred to me when I saw posts about his death yesterday on Facebook that he was one of the most recognizable people in metal period. The dudes look was pretty rock & roll, no doubt, and looking a picture of him, it doesn't take long to realize who it is. I know what you might be thinking, More people know who Ozzy is, and maybe so, but Ozzy is Sharon's husband, so he doesn't really count. What I mean by that is that Ozzy is a celebrity above and beyond metal.
 
Today I'm going to say that Lemmy was the living face of metal, and he looked the same in every picture, bless him.

I highly recommend Brutal Legend, I just bought it in the sales on Steam. It's like Spinal Tap meets Lord of the Rings.

Speaking of Motorhead Dave, do you know if the gig is still going ahead with Saxon and Girlschool (If I remember rightly we were both going to the 26th January show in Manchester)? Nothing has changed on the tour dates list on either website and I haven't heard anything from the booking site.

Happy new year everyone! Had a good night, got together with my mates with my Motörhead shirt on and my best friend and I had some Jack Daniels to as a toast to Lemmy. My new years resolution is to see go and see one of my favourite bands, as I was meant to be seeing Motörhead this month.

My Mum just rang me and told me, absolutely devastated, but as Macabre said wasn't really unexpected, he put up an amazing fight, and he was an absolute legend, he'll be rocking with Dio and Hendrix now.

Belated Christmas celebrations with dad's side of the family today. My pressie? A fuckload of hot sauces.

I've always liked the time with my family around Christmas. We always kept it more in the spirit of a winter gathering. My parents took me to the Christmas Revels performances in Brooklyn a couple of times when I was little, and the audio tapes of those were probably the first music I fell in love with on my own. That's where I got my taste for medieval music, old English folk tunes, etc.
I used to care about giving and getting gifts, but now I just look forward to eating, drinking, and spending time with everyone. I'm excited to be going to see my parents again later this week, haven't seen them in over a year and haven't had a Christmas with them in ages. I'm looking less forward to my wife's side of the family, but I suppose that's normal. My grandma is 94 and just got out of the hospital, so it'll be good to catch up with her while I still can, as well.

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas. I hope you all get plenty of goodies and crank the stereo up to 11 so as to drown out those awful carollers...
