  2. Re: What Are You Listening To? At The Gates- All Life Ends Gotta love the old-school melodeath bands
  3. Re: Ban the user above you! Banned for not appreciating a lousy ban, despite the fact that it was especially lousy
  4. Re: I raise my glass of french wine and salute you ! Australian beer... one word: "Bitter". Well, most of it. It's still good though. I recommend it.
  5. Re: Ban the user above you! Banned for having more posts than me.
  6. Re: I raise my glass of french wine and salute you ! Welcome Misseur (not sure if I spelled that correctly, but hey, I don't speak French, so I think I can get away with it haha) I've listened to your links, and I'm really damned impressed. I think you'll feel right at home here. I'm a prog and BM fan myself. Bit more of a Death Metal fan, but Progressive and Black Metal make my music tastes complete. Also, French wine you say? Yummy. I salute you back with an Australian can of beer, hahahahahaha. Welcome to the Forum.
  7. Re: Never Ending Metal Sentence ... the crusader knights of England, in their holy quest for better music, which continues to...
  8. Re: Ban the user above you! Banned for pointing out this bad ban. (I'm on a roll for these point outs)
  9. Re: Ban the user above you! Banned because I have anger issues and it seems appropriate.
  10. Re: Ban the user above you! Banned for smiling after banning somebody.
  11. Re: Metal Vs. . . . . . everything else There is a t-shirt I have seen a few times recently in Australia that I think is international, or should be. It is composed of my answer to this forum. Death to ALL but Metal! Now for the seriousness: Metal requires talent, and skill, and has merit in it, like lyrics that actually mean something. If I have to hear another song like "sexy bitch" or whatever it is called, I will probably go postal. Autotune=painful shit that doesn't deserve the title of "pop" as Pop is just short for Popular... RANT OVER ...... ...... RANT CONTINUES There was talk about metalcore, deathcore, grindcore, etc and how it's not very good metal. Fortunately, I can set everyone's minds at ease. Core isn't actually metal. Metalcore is hardcore punk with metal elements. Deathcore is hardcore punk with metal elements, specifically death metal elements. Grindcore... hardcore punk with grind elements. None of them are actually considered metal. If you get a core band's cd and put it on your computer, it'll default (on the genre column of your itunes) to either punk, or alternative, never to metal. Therefore, Metal is still superior in all forms to everything else. THAT IS ALL.
  12. Re: Facebook friends. Yes, I saw that... I can't send messages telling people who I am with friend requests anymore Facebook makes me sad.
  13. Re: Ban the user above you! Banned, as it is glorious to ban Iceni, and I have my chance.
  14. Re: The Meaning of Life Or, you'll just be dead... :/

  16. Re: Ban the user above you! Banned for insinuating that it is hypothetical.
  17. Re: Ban the user above you! Banned for having an opinion.
  18. Re: Agalloch, and other obscurities Wow... I go away for an hour and when I come back.... Anyways, Iceni, I didn't put it into Underrated or Unknown Metal because I didn't know how big these bands were. The Metal Advisor: I meant that the genre was a bit more obscure than the actual bands. I hadn't heard of any of these guys before today however. ReturntoCarthage: I'll be sure to check them out sometime soon. NTNR: This is why I downloaded them, so I could listen to a broader spectrum of their music. I wouldn't have called what I heard Folk though.
  19. Re: Facebook friends. Oh, and also, I have added you all on FB (if we've spoken)... I be Stephen Parker. Unfortunately, due to the new setup of Facebook, I can't send a message WITH my friend request, so I'll just hope you all check here first.
  20. Re: Facebook friends. Well, damn... Have fun with mah profile guys. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000008250622
  21. I've just discovered a band named Agalloch, as the title suggests. I'd highly recommend checking them out. I'm not 100% sure what genre you could call this, but I'd probably put it into progressive with Anathema, and Amorphis, as I'm hearing a lot of similarities here. The song that I am going to recommend (as it is their only song I've actually heard) is "Falling Snow", which goes for 9mins and 35 or so seconds. Definitely worth the ten minutes. I don't feel as though I've wasted them haha. Another band I've found which I am enjoying is Wolves in the Throne Room. Very Black Metal sounding, but not quite as raw, and probably could be called an extremely heavy Blackened Death Metal band, but then, the vocals are wrong.. hrm.... Either way, take a look at the song "Subterranean Initiation". It's pretty damned good. Boasts a whole 7min track on Youtube. You just KNOW that that means it must be good. (Despite the sarcasm in the previous sentence it IS actually really good. Check it out) Finally, another band that I recommend you guys look into, is Shining. Another Black Metal band, but you can tell they're Swedish, not Norwegian haha. Absolutely love their song "The Madness and the Damage Done". Definitely 3 and a half minutes to take a look at, and devote to such a good band. Anyone else got any recommendations? Bands that are obscure, and hard to categorise into genre, but still are really damned good?
  22. Re: Ban the user above you! Banned for being Iceni. FINALLY I get to ban you!
  23. Re: Ban the user above you! Banned for banning Iceni before I could!
  24. Re: Cradle of Filth Well, since Venom started it, that's a fair enough statement. Having said that, I don't see Occult or Gothic Metal as their own subgenres, so much as a sub-subgenre, like Melodic Death Metal, or Symphonic Power Metal. I still throw them into Black Metal, but a different form of it I suppose.
  25. Re: Recommended Black Metal bands? What about (if you're into atmospheric) Make a Change... Kill Yourself? They're pretty good.
