  1. Not really my thing, but I know a few metalheads who are into it, so the question I pose is "is Grind a form of metal, or something else entirely?" I have already posted this in General Chat because I wasn't really sure, but I'm deleting it there. If you replied there, would you please be able to put your replies here so everyone can see it after I've removed it from General? (If I can) Thanks.
  2. Re: Heritage Awesome... I'll get around to it shortly. However, the point of this wasn't quite to review the album, so much as just talk about, and discuss it. I just gave a detailed reason for my opinions on it.
  3. Re: Non-English Lyrics.... I'm actually currently listening to the Nightwish song "Koulema Tekee Taiteilijan", great song, in Finnish too. Music in other languages, from oldschool Dimmu Borgir, to Rammstein, and music like traditional composures (I'm a fan of O Fortuna myself) is just as good as music in English. People who can't appreciate what they can't understand, in my opinion, are very closed minded. I know a few people like that.
  4. Re: Heritage I see... how do I move it? Any mods want to help me out?
  5. Re: wtf Well, that is the area I don't know enough in... although I did send that in at 5:23am, so exhaustion was there... but either way, we all know our own areas. Obscurity is definitely mine.
  6. Re: Cradle of Filth They're one of my favourite bands, and I would say that they fit into the Black Metal genre, just not well. It's probably closest in my opinion. I like Dani Filth, and how intelligent he is, and how funny he is. I mean, his comment that CoF were "Heavy Funk" made me laugh so hard.
  7. Dani Filth. Discuss. (This is a question that could go on an exam for school hehe)
  8. Re: Ban the user above you! Banned for coming up with excuses for mental inferiority.
  9. Re: wtf Gaahhhh I clearly don't know enough D:
  10. Re: Dimmu Borgir! WOAH!!! I heard ReturntoCarthage saying they were releasing metalcore... that's not right. Now, I haven't listened to Abrahadabra except the intro track, but I can safely say that there is no core in there. Dimmu are black metal, but they're a bit more "symphonic metal" as well. A bit of a fusion genre. They are definitely still black metal though. I can't really understand how you can't call them black metal, simply because they don't sound like Mayhem, or Old Man's Child, or whatnot. Like, look at modern day Satyricon, they're not the same as they used to be, but they are most definitely still black metal, just not as they once were. It's a bit of progression in my opinion.
  11. Heritage, the new Opeth album, came out today in Australia. It probably came out everywhere else first, but that's alright, means we can talk about it freely. I personally thought it was good, very jazz-influenced as far as I could tell, extremely mellow, very slow though, and possibly a tad boring at some points. Opeth are one of my favourite bands, by far, but I think that this is definitely not one of their best works. It's most definitely good, and I enjoyed it more than I did Morningrise (which I did love), but I just don't think that it's really Opeth quality. I think the lineup of songs however was most satisfactory, and definitely worth checking out if you haven't already. Opeth are still gods, and hopefully can keep it up. Once again, the album is Heritage. It comes complete with 10 songs, the collectors edition comes with a DVD as well, but being a music entrepreneur, and not a "making of" sorta guy, I prefer to just pull apart the actual songs, and listen to them, rather than watching how they were made, so I only got the standard (Oh, and I had no money to fork out for the collectors haha). I highly recommend it, and (keep in mind my regular rating for bands that I love is usually around a 6-7/10) I give Heritage a nice 5/10. Good album, with room for improvement.
  12. Re: The Meaning of Life I'm not sure about whether death clarifies or obscures things really... I mean, it just raises further questions.
  13. Re: The Meaning of Life Excuse my blunt, not so friendly reply to this thread, but I don't believe there is a meaning to life. We live, we love, we hate, we cry, we die, we rot, we decompose, we fertilise the next part of the natural world. Unfortunately, I don't see anything else at the moment. I'm not in the best of moods as I write this reply, so maybe it's just my extreme pessimism, but having said that, I believe that there is something bigger... something we aren't supposed to see. If humans were meant to comprehend such things, we would be able to with steady logic. At the moment though, I don't think that humanity has the mental capacity to even think of something like this. I suppose it's a question with no answer, or the answer is so far from our mind, we will never reach it. The world is not meant to be understood by people like us, there is no supreme, cosmic being that will answer it for you, there is just you, and your opinions... hell, I'm not even sure about that, and in truth, nobody can.
  14. Re: Cannibal Corpse Yeah, that's the only thing that I dislike about it too. You know... I really don't know. But it's really funny too. It's just so relaxed.
  15. Re: wtf Oh, but that's Amazon, which really works for giving the title of this thread meaning. All you can say about them, and their ability is "WTF?"
  16. Re: Ban the user above you! Banned for being Shadow, which is cancelled simply by shining light on it.
  17. Re: Ban the user above you! Banned for assuming you have authoritah
  18. Re: wtf Yeah, I know, I just thought I'd joke about it... I would have said that Threat Signal were melodeath though. The others there, I haven't listened to. This is the problem with genre. Anywho, core comes from "Hardcore/punk" and if you put a core cd onto itunes, it's preprogrammed as "Punk", not "Metal". Also, go onto http://www.metalarchives.com I think it was... it's Encyclopaedia Metallum. Searching any core band won't actually yield a result, but if you search local bands it will.
  19. Re: Ban the user above you! Oh, that way I'm double banning you. And you also find out a little bit about me in the process... but banned for questioning me.
  20. Re: Ban the user above you! I'm banning both of you for not being of Irish descent. Also, because my mother was born in London, so therefore, I need to ban you, simply because Londoners are very self important in my experience, and therefore, you're all banned for your being inferior to me. That is all.
  21. Re: wtf I also have something I intend to use, but I've tried to put it up more than once, and it wouldn't let me. *sigh* I think that when talking to people about metal, you can't speak to somebody who isn't willing to listen. And you need to show them in a way they will understand I'm afraid. That's often the hard part. How did one of the Metal Forum Royalty not know that metalcore, or in fact, anything that says "core" at the end, isn't actually a subgenre of metal? I am confused by that.
  22. Re: Death Definitely the best quote I have ever heard.
