  1. I thought Jody did alright as the Doctor. I haven't seen all of the latest Dr Who season but I think she did okay is what was an unsurprising choice by the producers. She was certainly more enjoyable to watch than Jack Whitehall would have been had he been chosen for the role like many were claiming. Recently watched Jody play an Aussie in One Night which was completely different and a bit heavier than Dr. Who could ever be and she did well in that too. Not a fan of Tate, although I can tolerate her in Dr. Who. Not sure I'm that keen to watch the new guy either.
  2. Strine? Who the fuck speaks Strine?
  3. Our main Kids channel doesn't have ads and most of the shows only go for about 8 minutes so it fits my attention span. Schizophrenia - Chants Of The Abyss
  4. You just have to find the right kids tv shows and they are as enjoyable as any adults TV shows. In Australia we've had a number of greats dating back to the 80's with Shirl's Neighbourhood (with the lead signer of Skyhooks as host). In the 90's we had the Ferals with Ratus P Ratus and his fart machine. In the 00's sometime there was a British show call In The Night Garden which had a farting flying machine and a little dude that walked around polishing is his stones. Then in 10's we got Bluey who has taken over the world now they've sold to Disney. Then of course there is the Teletubbies, shit there is not a better show in the world to watch stoned with mates. You just have to be able to get in the right mindset to watch kids shows and you can have more fun than the kids! I don't think my two are going to have kids of their own, at least not for a while, but fuck I hope they do so I can sit down and watch tv with them when they are really young!
  5. I'm not old enough to watch that video, it says it's age restricted and only available on Youtube.
  6. Dedicating anything to Anvil is entirely fair because Anvil invented heavy metal, along with everything else that goes along with it! They also invented disagreeing with the statement that Anvil invented everything. When I first read about Anvil I thought they were Canada's version of Spinal Tap, done way too late to be good. They didn't even make a ripple in the water down here in Aus. No one talked about them, no one played them, no one gave a shit. Then this slightly comical, BS doco came out and it was like they were trying to recreate Spinal Tap. That didn't win them too many fans but it did get them talked about. I still haven't heard a full Anvil song, only what was on the doco, but the constant stream of articles that followed the movie were somewhat humorous. I still wouldn't call the Anvil Doco great but it was watchable if only for the comedic value. Start posting! I remember watching the punk one not long back, but I haven't had time to go looking, and therefore haven't found anything that great recently.
  7. Triumph Of Death - Resurrection of The Flesh Live
  8. EOYL are a commitment but everyone handles them differently. There is nothing wrong with listening to each album and trying to grasp what you think each album is about. But at the same time there is nothing wrong with simply listing the albums you've played the most during the year. How a list is generated is up to each person. It can be a challenge but it's only as much of a challenge as you want to make it. When I do my lists I do start first with a list of everything I've bought for the year, then re-listen to everything, then make up my mind which ones I like more. Sometimes the list is formed before the final play through, other times it doesn't. Sometimes the lists gets changed after I think I've finalised it, some times it doesn't. Other people do it differently, there is no hard and fast rules about how you get the list. But it is all meant to be fun, don't over think it unless you really want to.
  9. I think I've probably watched (or fallen asleep in front of) more TV this year than in previous years so it's possible some of that time missed being spent on albums. It could also be that there is less good albums in the world. It could also be that there is thousands more good albums and I'm tone deaf too them all. Who knows, life goes on, I'm sure I'll get at least 10 albums to make a list!
  10. I was wondering before if I've been pre-occupied this year or if I just haven't been as compelled asother years. I've had plenty of busy years since I started doing EOY lists, even years where I spent little time at home, yet I still listened to and bought shitloads of music. This year I kind of feel that at the moment I just haven't been compelled to listen, which is a bit sad if true.
  11. I've actually heard 5 albums on the Decibel list. I've heard of quite a few but they don't interest me. Usually I would have a heap of albums on the listened to list, many of which wouldn't have rated a second listen, some would have rated heaps of listens. But this year not so much. Just looking at what I've bought in 2023 (including EP's which is unusual for me because I don't often buy EP's) there is about 35 on the list. But just scanning the list I can see there is some albums I know wouldn't make any lists. There are some bands I want to catch up with and there might be some albums I don't yet know I've missed, but this year is really looking like I put in about 20% of the effort I usually do.
  12. Unsurprisingly I've heard very few of them. I'm not even sure I've heard 40 new albums this year. I certainly haven't bought 40. I'd have been lucky to buy 20 albums this year I think. It's been a slow year for me, what I've bought may not even make a top 20 which would be a first in several decades.
  13. The Accused - Grinning Like An Undertaker
  14. We have these new things called hyperlinks, you should use them The Doc's bandcamp shit all in one place.
  15. Have you heard their latest album? I've read a few good reviews of if but I wasn't overly impressed, it seemed to lack something the old albums had.
  16. I'd be more inclined to dump Destruction for Accuser. Not sure what it is with Destruction but while I've liked some songs I've never enjoyed a full album. Plenty of people on other forums I've been on rank any of Destruction's first four albums as classics and top tier albums but I just never found them that great. I remember thinking at the time of release that Diabolical had some reasonable stuff on it but it's ultimately been forgettable for me because I can't remember it now. On the other hand I've always liked the fun and silliness of Tankard so I'd always rate them in the Teutonic Thrash 4
