Was posting about iems, thought about you and your Mezes, saw them on sale for $229 and bought them. This happened all in about 5 minutes. If my wife freaks out I will blame you haha! But looking forward to seeing feeling and hearing them. They are certainly a handsome looking pair of hps. in my defense I did get picked up for a good assignment so this is a little reward for myself.

Thanks man, I will be around for a few weeks then more travel through 2023. It's all good though. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you as well. I will try to catch up on some of these posts but your list will be well received as always. I am just not seeing the good black metal releases in my be feed apparently.

Solstice - Pray

I just got the Moondrop Arias for about $60 and am quite impressed. Previously got the tin t3 plus for $67 and I think these 2 sound very good, and different enough to justify having both. Finally I had to snatch a pair of the 7hz Salnote Zeros on sale for $15. They are getting a lot of hype in the budget space.. They arrive tomorrow. I have decided that either my hearing is degraded enough that I am incapable of appreciating the nuances between merely 'good' and high-end (i.e. expensive) gear, or this hobby is almost entirely bullshit. Probably a mix of both. Never the less I love shiny new audio toys so my compromise to myself is to not spend too much on any one thing. I do want those Mezes though after hearing Navy rave about them for years now. Also, I am definitely a foam tip guy.

You are not wrong. The foundations of our system are being sorely tested. If we come through this I can only hope it will make us and our institutions stronger, but that cannot be assumed or even expected at this rate. I would point out though that America basically introduced the world to concepts like an individual's inherent right to liberty, peaceful transfer of power, human rights. While it's easy to point out our shortcomings in maintaining those lofty ideals, it is a little ironic because the world would not even be having these types of conversations had the USA not come to be. This is fascinating. I think we think we know a lot more about why stable countries fall apart than about how they advance. I do appreciate that once a country starts to slide into corruption and authoritarianism and strife it becomes incredibly difficult to reverse that trend.

This is your winner: Annihilation | Rebaelliun (bandcamp.com) Flat out one of the 1. Most extreme metal albums ever made. 2. One of the BEST extreme metal albums ever made. Everyone's opinion of extreme is going to vary. To some its how satanic can you be, others for some dumb reason like pig squeals and slams (that's not death/thrash though). To me, Annihilation epitomizes what you should be looking for, that is unrelenting tempo, aggression, and non-stop riffs that sound like the very sundering of space-time fabric with pure hell-fire. Eschew any sense of melody. Clean vocals, break-downs or slow sections are violations. If you are new to the sub-sub-sub genre of extreme blackened death/thrash, here's the place to start, IMO: Tara (REMIX version) | ABSU | Osmose Productions (bandcamp.com) Of course just look at early Kreator, Sepultura, Sodom, Dark Angel and Slayer's Reign in Blood and you basically have plenty of proto-death thrash extremity. Merciless, Death Hammer, Hellish Crossfire, The Furor.. and of course Destroyer 666 and all of their disciples that drift a little more into speed metal and away from DM. This is fun - two releases from opposite sides of the black metal spectrum: Karmanjaka - Gates of Muspel. Melodic, a little prog and and folk, from Sweden. None of the elements I usually look for in black metal, but this is a great listen all the way through. Not what I was expecting from the art. Slovenian thrashers back with a new full-length. Tons of riffs and lots of fun. These guys have steadily gotten better and this is their best stuff, imo. Tellurian Rupture | Eruption (bandcamp.com) I think the art is great. That poor blue guy is so sad that his fingers got chopped off that he doesn't seem to notice the vicious double titty-twister from demonic black hands. This is as good of a representation of the human condition as I can think of.
