  1. Oyster City Brewing Company Hooter Brown. Honey Brown Ale 8.5% Definitely not new to me. I've had gallons upon gallons of this stuff. If I could only have one beer the rest of my life.... this is the one.
  2. Makaya McCraven - In These Times (2022) - thanks for turning me on to this dude @Thatguy
  3. I haven't. Thanks for the heads up. Off to bandcamp I go. The Necromancers - Where the Void Rose (2022) - 7 Euro on bandcamp by the way. Whole discography for 19.
  4. Osees - A Foul Form (2022) - punky, hardcore influence to their usual weirdness. Dig it. The Necromancers - Servant of the Salem Girl (2017) - fuzzy doom goodness The Necromancers - Of Blood and Wine (2018) - not as immediate as the previous album. More of a grower.
  5. Speaking of filthy terrorism to start a Friday... Carcass - Reek of Putrefaction Carcass - Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious
  6. Lords of Triump - Lost Times EP - New stuff from Phil Swanson? Yeah I'm in. Black Sword Thunder Attack - March of the Damned EP (Greece) Wrathblade - Into the Netherworld Realm (Greece)
  7. Dude, @MarkhantonioYeatts killing it with the BF lately. It's been a while. I need some old-school punk in my life right about now.
  8. Mesarthim - The Degenerate Era Starcave - Final Sins Darkspace - Darkspace III
  9. I'd agree with that. Kiske was at the helm for their classic run of Keeper pt 1&2. I'd take either of those over Walls of Jericho. Of course, he was also there for Pink Bubbles and Chameleon... But the Pumpkins United stuff has been pretty solid from what I've seen.
  10. Saw them live recently with Erik. He's definitely got voice talent although I would say that it lacks the character Bach had. I can't define that explicitly, just something in the feels. I saw Bach on their first US tour (88 maybe?). Nobody they've had comes close. Erik struggled with much of what Bach did effortlessly at a similar age. Plus, dude is ridiculous on stage. Cringe worthy. I'd throw Todd la Torre in the discussion. Decent replacement for Tate. He does a decent job on the early stuff although admittedly young Geoff would blow him off the stage. To @JonoBlade's point though, they lack a killer record with him on vocals (then again, they haven't had a killer record since Mindcrime even with Tate). Bruce, Dio, Brian Johnson, Belladonna, Attila - those are the easy answers. Halford - yeah, remember he was a replacement too. Outside of that, can't really think of any big names that fit. Messaih Marcolin? Corpsegrinder? Barney Greenway? Micheal Kiske? Mike Patton (Bungle)? Ian Gillan (although Glen Hughes is far superior IMO)? Phil Anselmo (even though I personally detest Pantera)? Don't think I'd make a strong argument against any of those if someone suggested them. Not a direct replacement, but I've always thought Miles Kennedy does a better job on GnR stuff than Axl. Outside of the first album (recording not live), Axl has never impressed me. The dude who replaced Lane in Alice in Chains is decent, but he doesn't hold a candle to Lane and again, no killer record.
  11. Random server day. Here's what's in the queue: The Chasm - Conjuration of the Spectral Empire AC/DC - For Those About to Rock Circle of Ouroborus - Kotinpaluu Oranssi Pazuzu - Mestarin Kynsi Enslaved - E svrm - Червів майбутня здобич Väki - Kuolleen maan omaksi
  12. I agree with your assessment. I prefer early Clutch, but I've never really heard anything bad by them. And one of the most entertaining live bands I've seen. Never disappointed in one of their gigs. This afternoon: Circle of Ouroborus - Uskottomien kirkossa / Tarpeeton Escotrilihum - Urinhsol Condor - Unstoppable Power
  13. What do you think? I haven't given it a go yet. Love the cover art.
  14. Interesting. I haven't looked or thought about Last.fm in quite some time. Not even sure what apps I have linked to it aside from Spotify. Pretty sure I don't have the plugin installed on my server, something I may due when I rebuild. I mainly listen to music I own stored on my phone or on my server. So I think the chart only partially reflects what I actually listen to. Moreso reflects the music I listen to on playlists I make of songs I like for various occasions - driving with the wife, playing golf with the boys, working in the yard, drinking beer on the back deck. Mindless listening if you will. Still interesting to see what the data says. All time: 1. Judas Priest 2. Iron Maiden 3. Def Leppard 4. Black Sabbath 5. Rush 6. The Cure 7. Bad Religion 8. Accept 9. Manilla Road 10. Blue Oyster Cult Past year: 1. Judas Priest 2. Iron Maiden 3. Clutch 4. Dokken 5. Trampled by Turtles 6. ASG 7. Metallica 8. Black Sabbath 9. Thin Lizzy 10. AC/DC A few surprises there. Top 7 all time I could have told you without looking, but I would have the order different. Accept surprises me though. Didn't think they would even make the list since I'm not a huge fan, but I guess I have a handful of songs on every playlist. Switching over to album rank however, Mercyful Fate's first two take the top 2 spots followed by The Wipers - Is This Real?, Metal Church - Metal Church, Judas Priest - British Steel, Celtic Frost - To Mega Therion, Def Leppard - Pyromania followed by High N Dry, and last but not least taking up 10th place is Manilla Road - Crystal Logic. Song view is hilarious. Can definitely tell my wife uses my Spotify account alot. Top 20 is all New Agey shit she plays at work for her clients. Relaxing spa music crap. Only 2 songs in the top 30 I even recognize (Descendants and Mercyful Fate). Fun what data can tell you retrospectively looking over your habits. Like a musical bank account statement. Anyway, today so far: Wagner Ödegård - Om kosmos och de tolv järtekn Baptism - V: The Devil's Fire UUBBUURRUU - UUBBUURRUU
  15. There are a few that have good vocalist. Those are the ones who tend to make my collection. A few recent faves of the newer bands: Secret Shame - female - one of my favorites. Sounds like the reincarnation of a young Siouxsie Sioux. Vandal Moon Twin Tribes Pleasure Policy Casket Cassette Executioner's Mask Crime of Passing - female Chain Cult Poison Ruin And of course Drab Majesty Many of the classic bands had crap vocals too however. There were some seriously shit singers back in the day. Morrissey for instance grinds my nerves to no end. For me at least, regardless of era, post-punk is a genre where the vocals completely make or break the band. There's no killer riffage or technical drumming to distract or cover up.
  16. Oh yeah. That's a good album. I have it somewhere in the collection. Need to dig it out and give it some time. Been a few. The thing I like about it aside from the music/vibe which has a blend of all my favorite post-punk characteristics, is that the vocals sound great. Dude sounds normal. PP bands tend to get some really annoying singers. Can definitely ruin a perfectly good record. Thanks for reminding me of this one! Some nice choices on your playlist today. I'm going to call it now. This will be on my EOTY list. Took seemingly forever to get a new one from them, and it was so worth the wait. Today, I just put the server on random. This winter's project is to rebuild the thing. Do some major cleaning. Too much garbage clogging it up. A few surprises I forgot I even owned and some faves. A few I remember: Boston - Boston Judas Priest - Priest Live Tool - Lateralus Uriah Heep - Sweet Freedom Killing Joke - 2003 s/t Vestal Claret - The Cult of Vestal Claret Cult of Fire - Ascetic Meditation of Death
  17. As the Google Father says, worst album and definitely not a recommended starting point. Earliest I'd recommend is Bloody Kisses. Work forward from there. WCD is their best IMO. Life is Killing Me is pretty good too. Type O is cool weather night time music for me. Another month or 3 before I start spinning it. YMMV
  18. Can confirm. Fun record. NP: Sumerlands - Dreamkiller - so far so good. Still miss Phil Swanson on vocals and I think I preferred the production of the first album which was a touch darker, but fuck these reincarnation of Jake E Lee riffs are just so tasty.
  19. You quite underestimate our fine bureaucracy. They are just rolling out a pilot program to start doing passport renewal online. Still old fashioned paperwork you have to mail in with a physical picture attached. 6-8 week wait to process unless you drive to a passport office a few hours away (unless you live in a big city). Black Witchery - Inferno of Sacred Destruction Fetid Zombie - Transmutations Ljosazabojstwa - Głoryja śmierci
  20. Gotta admit, I'd watch this. And would probably buy this.
  21. Crucifer - Thy Sulfur Throne on High Malokarpatan - Krupinske ohne
  22. Ok, so settled in at the workplace and queued up some of the Goatmaster's highlights from his recent Killing Joke binge (and a few others). Haven't listened to a few of these for a while. Killing Joke - Absolute Dissent Killing Joke - Hosannas from the Basement of Hell Killing Joke - Pandemonium Killing Joke - Revelations
  23. Dude, that would be the tits, but alas, I doubt I could pull it off.
