The Archspire/Psycroptic/Hadal Maw/Primitive Show was awesome.
My brother and I were the only ones who bought tickets through the Primitive bandcamp, causing us to win the CD and shirt that were available as random prizes to people who bought tickets through them.

I have always wanted to get some of the Tyrannid kits.  I collect Chaos (mostly Daemons), but also have some Imperial units.  I mostly paint, and have only played twice.

I thought that I would share this here.  I made this for the art contest that Militant Zone recently put on, and ended up winning second place.  It is a collage - the first that I ever really made.  Any recommendations on where I can improve?

SOMETHING TELLS ME DEATHSTORM IS EXCITED ABOUT SUNDAY
I've been learning some songs for a local band who I'm hoping to join on bass. Different tempo and phrasing from what I'm used to. Really good musicians and it makes for an interesting challenge. Also, I ate dinner last night on the top floor of a yacht in Boston Harbor, surrounded by drunk doctors. Life is full of opportunities!

Thank you for an awesome answere!
Just have to add, Started play piano at age 7 -91, drums at age 10 -94, guitar at age 13 -97, where the bass also includes.
Started to growl/scream back in 2005, but the clean singing started like.. yesterday
I have recorded music a very long time, but not seriously until last year. To be honest, I don't really know what all these plugins and stuff do ? I might have used them wrong. Or not at all.
The thing is, I want to learn, to actually know what the fudge I'm doing
And yes,, the biggest problem I have is to get a "clean" distorted guitar.
So I am very grateful for the tips you gave me.

Thanks FatherAlabaster. Heres a few death metal bands im into:
The classics: Death, cannibal corpse, obituary, morbid angel, Entombed (early), Carcass, At the gates, malevolent creation, suffocation, immolation.
The Polish Beasts: Decapitated (amazing band but sadly ive been less impressed with their post organ halucinosis releases), Behemoth, Lost Soul (also polish and far more technical).
Technical Death Metal: Necrophagist, Neuraxis (underrated band from Canada), aborted, beyond creation, augury, anomalous (not well known but check out their album equivalent - its awesome), The faceless (first two albums, not so much later stuff), obscura, psycroptic, blotted science (instrumental but will appeal to tech death fans).
Modern death metal: Meshuggah (absolute gods imo and a huge influence on me), revocation (thrashy influence, amazing riffs and solos), vildhjarta (djent but rooted in death metal) humanitys last breath (as above), gorguts (huge influence on me) articial brain (gorguts esque/ experimental), fallujah, thy art is murder (modern stuff is death metal imo), ulcerate (amazing band from new New Zealand), Death spell omega (not technically a DM band but thought id include).
Im a big fan of stuff that has dissonance with a sense of unconventional sense of harmony and melody and love those odd rhythms!
I have got into the djent stuff but agree the scene is pretty formulaic now. John browne (monuments) writes awesome riffs, and Tosin Abasi (Animals as leaders) is a phenominal player and composer.
Those are a few of the big bands i can think of. Many more but need more time to list them all..

    Hey good people,
I've been working on an album for my project From The Thicket. I know genre labels are always a point of contention but I'd say my work draws a lot from groove oriented bands (e.g. meshuggah, vildhjarta) and dissonant/strange death metal bands like Gorguts.
The Album has 13 tracks completed, and I'm currently working on improving the production. I play guitar and bass, and use Ezdrummer for the drums. Its all mixed and mastered by me. I haven't got vocals on this one but I have used scream samples in parts and other voice samples, to fill that void. In the future I'd love to have a full band with a vocalist, however, right now its all about crafting a sound and seeing if I can generate interest.
I've also made my own videos. I love making this stuff so I hope some of you guys enjoy it!
For anyone wondering, the name is actually the meaning behind the name "Bruce". That was my father's name and he sadly passed away In March this year after a battle with cancer. This project is dedicated to him and I've included a few references to him/his illness in the song titles.

    Hey everyone,
I'm new here (obviously) and im keen to meet likeminded metalheads (cos we all know how much diversity is in the genre).
Like most of you, ive got some tunes id love to blast your ears with! My style is death metal with a dose of djent and without vocals. Id be keen to add a vocalist and other members at a future date.
Anyway, hope youre all listening to some sick metal and I'm looking forward to having a chat and finding new bands!

Will gave a Damn to FatherAlabaster in Type O Negative
@Requiem : You know how I feel - World Coming Down and Life Is Killing Me are my two favorites. I think Pete took his songwriting to a new level on those albums. Compared to the rest of their catalog, they also flow better as full albums IMO. His arrangements got better, his song structures retained their sprawl but got more focused, his riffs and melodies got more intricate and idiosyncratic, and his lyrics (at their best) got more personal and revealing without losing their self-deprecating humor. I guess you either get it or you don't. It took me a while to get used to each new album, though, and if you're looking for that one specific thing you liked about that one specific album that they don't really do anymore, I can see how you'd find it difficult to warm up to them. Surprised you don't at least like "Nettie" and "The Dream Is Dead" off LIKM, or "Creepy Green Light" and "All Hallows Eve" off WCD. Hats off to Will for mentioning "IYDKMIGTHTKY", another of my favorite tracks.
Origin Of The Feces and Bloody Kisses (either version) would occupy the second tier for me, if I was ranking them. I think some of the Slow, Deep, And Hard versions of those first Type O songs are more energetic, but Pete's more melodic vocal approach and the ridiculous "crowd noises" and "banter" have made OOTF a longtime personal favorite. The rawness, simplicity, and memorability of those early albums is unmatched, and that material had just as much vigor in a live setting. You haven't really heard "I Know You're Fucking Someone Else" until you've heard it played at unconscionable volumes in the back room of L'Amour with a packed house singing along to every word.
By contrast, October Rust seems plodding and repetitive to my ears, not to mention overly polished, spiked with filler, and shot through with adolescent fantasies that take themselves too seriously (Be My Druidess? My Girlfriend's Girlfriend? Aside from fun at karaoke night, I'll pass...). There are a handful of songs on there that I love anyway (Love You To Death, Haunted, Wolf Moon), and I don't want to take away from those, but I could do without most of the others. That "Cinnamon Girl" cover is what skip buttons are for. I will be fair here and say that context counts for something - I can get into some of the weaker songs on this album if they come up in a playlist, and they're not so far off from individual tracks on the following albums. But man, this one is a a slog for me.
Dead Again is a fun album for me as a fan of the band, but it's one of their least memorable and inventive - more like a retrospective exhibit of previously covered territory than the rest of their catalog, which always seemed to be striving for something new. The weirdo Catholic pushiness of the lyrics is a bit much, and all the jilted-lover stuff is wearing thin - a cautionary tale about a man who got too wrapped up in one facet of his autobiography. For all that, it's got a lot of cool parts and good energy. I don't love it, but I like it a lot. Also nice to hear a real drummer on a Type O album for the first time since Bloody Kisses. After all the work Johnny put in, I'm happy he got to nail down a solid studio performance before it went tits up. Given that it turned out to be their swansong, I'll overlook the fact that it's too fucking long.
Also, let's not forget about the three previously unreleased tracks available on The Least Worst - "It's Never Enough", "12 Black Rainbows", and "Stay Out Of My Dreams". I don't really care for collected radio edits and alternate versions of tracks I already have, but those tracks by themselves are a solid 21-ish minutes of good songwriting from my favorite period of theirs - basically an EP.
Bottom line - Pete was a gifted songwriter with a unique voice, a strong sense of direction, and a willingness to bare uncomfortable personal truths in the service of his music. He managed to combine fun, rage, and gloom in a way I haven't heard anyone else pull off. Some of his songs are downright iconic. And the band was with him every step of the way. I look up to him as a musician, and I would have loved to hear what Type O did next. The world seems a bit emptier without them.
