I'm sad to say that I'm still missing that one. They are frightfully consistent though, all of the albums that I have from them are great.

Just got back from a nice vacation in Sweden. I really miss it so much, and my heart is aching to be back there.  The cold kicked my fuckin' ass though. I celebrated Lucia with an amazing family that welcomed me as one of their own and even performed a Luciatåg in costume, and sang for me to give me a taste of the culture and they made a Julbord for me (christmas table feast) and we all decorated the tree together. It was magical and wonderful and waugh! I miss it / them so much.  They went all out to give me a really traditional Swedish Lucia and I'm feeling so special and loved.  I also got to enjoy an epic viking feast at Aifur in Stockholm which was just... fucking amazing.  Everyone is seated on longhall tables and benches covered in plush reindeer furs. Viking weaponry and art all over the walls, a longship suspended from the ceiling, everything lit by candles and lanterns, food eaten with simple iron smithed utensils and served on slabs of wood, live entertainers on drums, hurdy gurdy, etc. The mead flowed, the fucking food... holy shit it was phenomenal... the mead was great too.  God damnit you guys.   Other highlights of the trip was partying at these three Icelandic brothers' house, ton of people there, all cool as fuck and Swedes know how to party (once they're drinking and there are no  more awkward silences that Swedes are so well known for). Also had an epic tabletop gaming night with like 8 of my friends and of course the usual walking / exploring / sightseeing / shopping / dining.  And fika.  So, so, so, so much fika.  BLECH. I don't know how they can eat cake every day, it's just too much.  But I definitely appreciated the coffee and I was polite enough to taste the various cakes, one of which is this magical fucking unicorn of a cake called Budapeststubbe and I had two bites and pretty much died. That fucking good.   I left my heart back in frost-covered, sparkly, icy Sweden. I miss it so much already.

Because you don't want to see millions of decent people here, and billions worldwide, unfairly demonized for the actions of some fucking psychos who claim to be acting in accordance with a belief system that "mainstream America" is misinformed enough to think they all share? Yeah, I'm with that.

    Especially because I'm here! Hey-o!
As some of you know I got back from Australia which turned out to be nothing as I expected it, and a tremendous pleasure.  It was gorgeous. I LOVED it. It didn't start out as a dream vacation but it quickly became one.

Tomorrow I am headed off to Stockholm on a wintery dream vacation. So much to look forward too. Sverige-hooo!

Brother and I decided to go out for breakfast this morning. Went to the most amazing crepe place. I opted for a savoury crepe topped with chicken, french chorizo, swiss cheese, capsicum, and parsley. Not only are the crepes amazing but the coffee is sensational. Think that's going to be a regular haunt of mine now.

Ghouly given a Damn from FatherAlabaster in New Logo - Your Thoughts?!
As a logo and branding designer myself, I have to say that the initial proposal doesn't do it for me. The thumb on the \m/ reads as a "J" when it's small, looks like Juletal Forum.

I am much more in liking of Father's logo as metal, but scrap the diamond plate texture - it's too much. White on black is good, if you wanted to do a fancy texture for the forums I'd stick to brushed metal or rusted metal, something less... diamond platey.

    Excellent work FA.

Feeling Thankful.  Thankful to be alive. Thankful to be loved. Thankful for my family. Thankful to live such a good life.  Thankful for all the traveling I got to do this year. (Australia was amazing! And I'm off to Sweden in a week!)

Thankful for my family, my educational opportunities, my paid internship, pencil & paper, metal music and the forum upon which to discuss it and the grace of God - and in less than three weeks, my degree w/certificate and Christmas with my family.

Have another great trip, again, you lucky bird.
The spirit of gratitude is a little bit hard for me to conjure at the moment, but I'm happy to have a healthy and loving family and a few good friends, and to have had some great, if ephemeral, opportunities this year to advance my art and music. All things considered, my son is probably the piece of my life that brings me the most joy. Looking forward to meeting some new people tomorrow.
I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable day tomorrow, whether or not you're celebrating the holiday.

On the Macabre front me and the better half are celebrating 8 years together this weekend (actually next Tuesday officially but, well yeah I am away).  To celebrate she bought me two skulls, a teaspoon in the shape of a skull and some chocolate skulls and some whiskey - just to prove why she knows me better than any other and also why she is the queen of my heart like!

I served over rice, but based on the taste I think it might be better over mashed potatoes. I had a 3.75 lb pork shoulder, so I did everything about 1.5 times the recipe accordingly. The only substitution that I made was the Dijon mustard, I didn't have any, so I used spicy brown mustard. Since spicy brown usually has horseradish, it still worked together well, and was maybe a bit more rich and less sweet because of it. I drank the apple cider that I cooked it with while eating it, and garnished with green apples, and it was killer. Thanks again for posting it.

This has been their tactic for ages, drawing imaginary party lines across conflicts that people are more emotional and less logical about to pit them against each other. It has served as an impressive distraction in our ADHD generation to allow them to get away with whatever they want while all observation is directed at non-issues and firing blows across supposed party lines. It's all a farce.

probably going to catch a lot of shit for this but, whatevs.  My rant is people who are shouting "homeless vets before refugees!".
I've gotta say, people who devalue refugee lives just sicken me. They're people too, real actual humans suffering in ways unimaginable, and the people who are shitting on them are fat, lazy, entitled oo-rah shitheads who don't have a clue how EASY they've got it in suburban 'Muricah. These people are paranoid about poor, brown skinned muslims invading their country and making them uncomfortable, and their "vets before refugees" chant just highlights what closet bigots and xenophobes they are.  I'd be refreshing to see one of them actually cop to it and admit they're racist, myopic, self-centered shits who are terrified brown skinned people and think all muslims are terrorists.
Second, Vets are not angels. they didn't 'save our life' or 'give us freedom'.  My grandfather is a marine and my father was in the Navy, I'm no stranger to the nobility of the role but I'm no stranger to the fact that many of them are average people following orders, not saints.  They deserve adequate care and benefits too, ALONG SIDE of refugees, the poor, the mentally ill, the disabled, etc. Compassion shouldn't be doled out in a f*cking priority. Every human life is deserving of it, in equal measure.  What's more, the US can actually afford to care for vets, take in tens of thousands of refugees, and so much more -- but the shitheads in government will see to it that our tax dollars are squandered endlessly for military efforts we never should have started.

And I get where these people are coming from. "lets take care of our problems at home before we worry about those brown muslims on the other side of the planet, we've got enough problems of our own".  These people don't realize how culpable the US is for the instability in the middle east, and the rise of ISIS was due to our own miscalculated efforts in Iraq, and the refugees who have nowhere to go ARE OUR PROBLEM.

Go on, shoot me now. -__-

Risking your child's life (and your own) by crossing open sea, often in little more than a dingy, to give your child the chance to live without fear of persecution or death at the hands of terrorists is one of the bravest and most selfless acts I have ever heard of.
